I spent a freshman semester as a college radio DJ. This was the last song I played before my brief, pathetic career came to an end. At least I went out in style.
Man, brings back memories of better days (tho they didnt seem like it at the time :). This was an age when music was still real (not just a marketing vehicle). Long live Madchester.
Wow. The memories. The Madchester Scene, the burgeoning rave scene. All the great bands of that time. There was something in the air, it was bristling. Incredible. I had this in my sony-walkman and just let the whole (great) album play (good old 'autoreverse' :). What happened to music guys? WHAT HAPPENED? The shit of today cant hold a CANDLE to the good vibe we had then.
I used to live in Southern California back in 1992 when this song came out. I was listening to the radio one day, while listening to KROQ the song starts to play. I was stunned when I heard it and loved it right away. When the song finishes the DJ never says who sings the song. I was like, wait, wait, who is this, who sings this song? I had to wait for the song to play some other time, so it does come on again and my ears perk up, there I am listening, the song finishes and they go to commercial announcements; i was like no, no, no, you cant do that, son of a b¡+¢h!!! I was pissed 😡 😡 😡, it took a some time for me to catch it playing again, so I hear it play again, then the moment I had waited for comes; the DJ says "that's Two Worlds Collide by Inspiral Carpets" i was like fu¢k yeah. After that for whatever reason i never heard it play again; a very underrated song. Now here on UA-cam i can play it over and over, what a fantastic song, brings me back many memories of my teen years.
The wordly kingdoms are empty like a shell. High pride and hot air make no relevant life for future generations. Its only the soul that cries for a more promising meaningful future...and the Lord hears this.
Great days guys. Anyone heard of the New Fast Aitomatic Daffodils. They were bloody amazing live and I've seen the Roses, Mondays, Blur etc. Loadsa quality bands in the early 90s MBV were young then.
bloody fooking brilliant, AND, no less and truly, one of the best songs ever made, and you better believe it stands the test of time, in fact, it gets better over time....believe it!
What have I done with my life... such a powerful song... I seriously think if I never heard this song, i would have been dead... and I guess that makes me a bad man... I used to play it over and over again.. until I knew all the words.. Love it!! Life saver!!
I am sure they have their own meaning behind the song. However, this came out during the Balkan wars. It always reminded me of that. A terrible conflict....who was supporting what, religion, religious politics..east-west...men going and not sure which side was which really. Many young men
Even now, 33 years after I first got into them, I'll be waiting for kettle to boil or the microwave to ping and my anxious fingers start randomly taping out a rhythm on the worktop or the cupboard door, and then a second later as my mind asks "hmmm.... what's that from again"? as my ears tune in. And there it is the 4/4 offbeat intro to 'Joe'. No doubt, I'll still be tapping it in the nursing home as the robonurse changes my colostomy bag? Yup. Cool as fuk
Manchester music at its most brilliant. These guys are legends and the tune is a masterpiece, feel brilliant that I've got it in my music library, tons better than the crud you get nowadays.
I wish there were two YTs, one for all those people who want to curse, talk rubbish, bicker and fight and one for the "squares" like myself that just want to enjoy videos, have a chat with a stranger and leave a comment that was constructive and not rude or insulting to anyone, that really would be two worlds parting, and not colliding, EVERYONE, just be pleasant and understanding, it costs nothing
I think people do find it an effort to be constructive because firstly they we don't even identify our own destructiveness and secondly the effort of changing the habits of a lifetime. So that is the "cost".
I was lucky to see them live in Thessaloniki, Greece, in an unforgetable, enchanting night. After the show the band took a cruise in the night life of the city.Good old times.
you just can't get any better than this....and it holds up perfectly over time, twenty years or more gone by, I still play it over and over and it just gets better and better, really!
If you like Toms voice, you should check out Juvenilia.. it’s an album from his previous band, Too Much Texas. The track Harp is beautiful and Toms voice is amazing. It was one of the tracks they did for the John Peel session.
Ive just heard the drummer Craig has died. Its been one of them years for musicians and others dying. It makes you think about your own mortality thats for sure. Great band, and great song this one. One of their best
Yep. Feel sorry for kids today, all they know is facebook and twitter and useless chatter-shit like that. Plus, armageddon is at hand and they dont even notice. Long live Madchester.
Bob Dobalina my man I'm 15, born in 01, and I know and have every song by this band, even their unreleased songs. U know, u guys give our generation a lot of shit these days, I mean, yeah we mostly addicted to social media and stuff these days, and there are some things that we are ashamed of bringing in. But we still aren't all terrible like u guys make us out to be. Geez, u also act like rock music is like an ancient passing to our generation when I bet u that there are just as many metal heads from our generation out there was in the past. Just starting singing "This is how it feels" to myself and sent the shivers up my spine, as usual! Pleased to read these comments, I thought it was just me stuck in a 90's time warp but obviously we were jusy lucky enough to be around at this awsome time for music. Loved it all . . . espec. You were doing something wrong if you thought they weren't good times.
The early 90s were epic.
Couldn't agree with you more, mate

This is their best song ever. Just can't stop singing it. My 12 year old son loves them and just loves this.

It's a beautiful song
RIP Gilly, thanks for keeping the Madchester beat for so many years
Thank you for making our youth even more romantic with your songs!

Saw Tom playing last night in Leeds. He played this, superb song. Brilliant vocalist with a great stage presence
My favourite carpets track
Fantastic band criminally under rated
And Oasis criminally overrated
RIP m8..you shaped my dad's life....the best manchester band...
These guys were brilliant and legends of the Madchester scene....never really broke as big in the US as the bands they influenced
I totally agree.
90's Classic ! Hopefully this banger will get played on 8th April at Leeds O2 ...can't wait .
So underrated up there with joy division, buzzcocks brilliant musicians
This is a great song to harmonize to. If I ever have a band, I want to do a cover of this incredibly cool song.
