I got to tell you man I've been doing the Magnesium the potassium in the beetroot and some hibiscus tea and my blood pressure is right where it needs to be it is wonderful
Great BP Meter, I took mine with me to my doctors office to compare readings with their blood pressure cuff, We got same readings sitting and standing, which made me confident the Omron was giving a accurate reading.
@@Thermocouple2short I love this reply. My doctor just changed my blood pressure medication to Norvasc and it has way too many negative reviews online. Thank you so much for sharing.
I agree. Omron is at the top of the list for home use. They are very accurate. I use an Omron that’s wireless called Evolv. Another good choice are the ones made by A and D Medical.
agree. tried other brands which gave ridiculously varying measurements from day to day. Omron is consistent and accurate.
I found out about a year ago that i have high blood pressure. I was prescribed 25ml of metoprolol. I am currently trying to lower it naturally. I have exercised my entire adult life, even thru my pregnancies. I work out on my Peloton at least 5 days a week for a good hour and then I walk on my treadmill for 45 min. I do push myself hard on the bike, just wondering if I should continue that pace after watching your video. I am 65, eat fairly healthy, I'm sure I could do a little better, gonna look into the mediterranean diet.
This many years in production and the OMRON still depends on battery changes and does not come with a USB charging
I agree OMRON is the best . I've had mine over 10 years
I have a Citizen wrist monitor for 30 years but OMRON is on the top too just stay away from the low quality no name brands.
I have an old one health mark from my pharmacy. 5 years. So, I decided to get a new one. An omron 3 series, BP7100 I didt know it was more than 3 years old. But, it's readings are bout the same.
At the doc office it been higher, I dnt know if it was from the walking i did or being nervous etc.
That has been my problem for some time. High B P and low heart rate . I am on peredopril and I cannot eat cruciferous veggies or leafy greens. Those elevate my numbers and brought me to emergency several times till I learned about this from the internet.
I walk daily. Exercise daily and my weight is low. No dairy or wheat or nightshades.
What else can I do to protect my heart. I also do lymphatic drainage daily. Drink lots of water.
So what do you eat?
In general, how long will an OMRON blood pressure machine last or stay accurate? I’ve only purchased OMRON to monitor blood pressure. I feel like the last 2 purchases only lasted a couple of years each. Thank you for responding. We enjoy your UA-cam programs.
@@lesliefriend9337 mine have lasted up to 5 years
@@AdamJStoryDC Which model they make 11 not all the same accuracy either.
Omron makes a good meter, but just know that the model the doc has a link to is for a product that is not returnable. How do I know? I bought one (from the doc's link, that he gets a cut from) and the meter is garbage. Either that or my BP is either 185/110 or 87/45. Piece of junk. I went to try and return it and "NO RETURNS". What kind of products on Amazon have no return? Maybe defective products sold by third party companies trying to make some money dumping products they know are defective? I don't know and I may have just gotten unlucky. However, if it smells like a greedy rat and walks like a greedy rat..... you know the rest. Buyer beware is all I'm saying.
I already have one before listening to this, mine is a&d medical purchased on amazon. I hope it is accurate unless I take it to surgery to compare reading I wont know. Being a UK citizen that is hopeless if you can get an appt. And when I go for my annual check you get about 5 mins with a nurse. Forgot to say mine looks very similar to yours.
i actually got my father in laws when he passed away, and it's the easiest one I've ever used at home.
Question.....How often should your machine be replaced?
@@TheGregWallace 5 years
@@AdamJStoryDC That's good to know. Our machine is way older...thank you for the info.
review wrist bp measuring devices
Hi doc,
Thanks for the video.
What about the Beurer blood pressure readers? Are they not supposed to be a well reputed German brand?
And more generally, is it better to buy a blood pressure reader with a tube, or are those without a tube (wristwatch type) also good?
And finally, what about the newer Bluetooth connected blood pressure readers? Which brands of this type are also accurate? And do they have other possible uses (e.g. measuring while asleep or during exercise)?
Wondering what your knowledge/thoughts are on the Checkme (brand) BP2 monitor? It was the RedDot winner 2022 (not sure of the significance/validity of this award).
I am looking for a manual cuff to use on patients.
Manual sphygmomanometer is still the best. Omron still has errors
You have to know what you're doing (many don't) and there's the "human error" you'll have to deal with. Thanks for watching and subbing!
@@AdamJStoryDC there's also a machine error, and using manual sphygmomanometer is very easy to learn
@@vicdd2889 machine error. Human error...what’s a person going to do?
Anyway
I always got peoples preferring Mercury bp monitor instead of digital one
Reason they say that later is less accurate
How much does it cost? The Amazon link isn't working!
Here's the new link: amzn.to/40v3CQv
I am very thin only 9.5 inch arm. Will universal small cuff work with Omron? I have occluded blood flow. The average automated pump in air really hurts my arm as it goes up way to high for my very low blood flow.....So then my arm & hand tingles & hurts for long time after. Prefer self pump up so not toooo tight .
Great review. I am wondering if people who say that Omron like all digital monitors are all inaccurate are basing it on the following. (1) fluctuations in blood pressure from hour to hour and even minute to minute depending on the individual and possible underlying/undiagnosed health issues that may give rise to fluctuations to a greater or lesser degree, (2) Users not properly cuffing or using their machines appropriately (3) Times of day you take readings. From what I understand, readings are best taken with an average of two in the morning before drinking or eating anything and after going to the washroom. And another average of 3 readings late in even before going to bed. From what I understand, readings taken at noon, usually 12 pm tend to be the least accurate. Having said that, some suggest the more readings taken throughout the day regardless of time, the more accurate the average is likely to be. This is the reason ambulatory blood pressure monitors only available by prescription, at least short term may be the best option. Since they take continuous readings daytime and night time and provide an average based on both, these are more likely to be the most accurate of all.
There’s also the fact that they don’t like the numbers and blame the machine… as they’re smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee… ha ha
👍 Lol, Agreed! I can totally see/visualize that. On a side note, and just out of curiousity, what is your opinion of pharmacy based public blood pressure machine setups. I read they tend to be super inaccurate given their one size fits all cuffs, which may be either too big or too small given differences in arm size. Thanks
@@azdhan They suck.

Sir Which omron blood pressure monitor model gives accurate blood pressure reading
Is there any of these that don't squeeze the arm...as in they measure on the way up vs the way down

The cuff’s available for the Omron are terrible. Most of them are the hard type which do not work very well. Omron needs more cuff options so we can upgrade to a proper cuff.
If Omron (the one we use at the office) is so bad, give us YOUR opinion of what the best BP machine is.
@@AdamJStoryDC In search of one that works. ALL of these cheap (under $100) “home units” have terrible cuff’s. Omron used to sell upgraded cuffs for these units, but it seems they no longer do that. And they also no longer offer wider (cover more of the arm, not a thicker arm) and/or the normal soft type cuffs which work much better that these had style cuffs. I spent 3 hours at a cardiologist office today testing 6 different machines, comparing them to a manual test with a stethoscope which of course is the only true way to get a real 100% accurate reading. None of them worked properly, and all had the hard type cuffs. They are either moving (velcro slowly ripping off while inflate/deflate) OR they are just to small (the width) to get proper readings.
@@Machria23 so even your cardiologist had bad cuffs?
@@AdamJStoryDC No, they had an Omron, with a very wide and soft cuff which worked ok (but not perfect!). And the doc said none of the auto machines work perfect, but with a proper wide and soft cuff, they are acceptable. But they double checked with MANUAL readings (manual cuff and scope) to get a more accurate and correct bp. I brought in 3 machines, and they had 3 to test. ALL of there’s had big wide soft cuffs, 2 of mine (Omron’s) had hard cuffs and the other (another brand) had a soft but very small cuff. Their 3 machines were were much closer to an accurate readings. All 3 of my “hone machines” with “bad cuffs”, were completely off. Not just a little, a lot!! 160/110 readings when done manually were and 125 /80 every-time. When we fit one of his larger, soft cuffs onto our Omron machine, it read almost identical to his pro machine, just a few points off the actual manual readings. And the doc said he has done this this 10 or so times, always same results! The machines work, BUT THE CHEAP CUFF’s they provide and no longer offer an upgrade to apparently (i cant find anywhere!) do NOT work. This is VERY DANGEROUS in my opinion.
@@Machria23 Why does the doctor even have them if he says they aren't great? Why not just do manual testing on everyone?
Thank you Doctor...
How did you know I was looking for one.
I have one and their easy fit coupler is anything but that can't put it on by myself readings are way high and it pumps up longer than it has to getting bad readings a soft coupler would be better but they don't make one for my model. Even had a rep listen on phone while operating under her instructions and said it was running too long. Problem is it costs you to send back they don't open monitor up and reset. They only run it and if it checks to their specs they just send it back if bad they replace. This is only under warranty. Not impressed.
The best is manual apparatus as it gives you mental satisfaction which digital does not give.
You have to know what you're doing (many don't) and there's the "human error" you'll have to deal with. Thanks for watching and subbing!
This is the one I have,I tried many in the past this is definitely the best home monitor ever
Not only is the automatic home use unit easy to use for those who dint now what they are listening for most people from home would not know anything about bruits or what they mean or other possible issues, not to mention it is difficult as a one man band.
What about the OMRON Evolv?
My problem is: I have an arm monitor and just looking at it my BP goes up. I want to try a wrist monitor, but can I depend on them for being accurate.
A lot of the reviews say it’s not accurate
Then what is? If the doctors' offices are using them, then what do you suggest?
I watched your video so I looked it up and the reviews on Amazon say the readings are off so my question to you is what do you think obviously if I was an expert I would not be looking at your videos
@@FORDTECH313 Find me a blood pressure cuff with excellent reviews that gives 99% accuracy of the readings on Amazon. See if you can find one.
A mercury sphymomanometet?
Reviews are subjective as many people don’t know how to use the machine and give bad reviews. It may not be the product but be the users error.
Link to accuracy verification review? The few reviews that I found that actually tested accuracy led to other products. You mention getting manual blood pressure tests. and although that may be the best I haven't seen that done for 30 years or more in any medical setting. I'd like to see facts, not 'everybody has this one' . Also, the ones in professional settings are pro grade and you can't compare with consumer devices, so that's a meaningless hand wave.
Consult the websites and independent tests prior to buying.
The omrons that I have had only last about a year, before they start giving e4 and e2 codes
Microlife?
Bc of the big numbers
I have an omron but when I went to my appointment my doctors blood pressure professional monitor read 150/100 I have heart failure at 33 years old they're confident I can get my ejection upto 40 or 50% from 30% I walk 30 minutes every day and my sodium is cut wayy I'm half dont know why I'm seeing decent blood pressure readings at home and high ones in the Drs office
It could be anxiety. Even if you feel relatively calm, like not freaking out, yiu can still be anxious. This happens to me in any social situation with strangers, which includes going to the doctor.
Higher BP at the doctors office vs home is usually called "white coat syndrome"...but it may not be exactly that. Oh, don't take your BP at home it the most calm state yiu could manage, take it during your normal routine.
I have had VERY high BP at the doc, as high as 220/110, which is a medical emergency and could kill at any minute. At home my BP would be 130-140/80-90. Anyway, only here because I'm looking for a new BP monitor. I wish you good health, God bless.
This is a widespread thing. Even though you may not realize it, you're more stressed in the docs office, that pushes your blood pressure up. Docs are (or definitely should be) aware of that. The gold standard of measuring BP is a 24 hour screening.
Hi doctor- what you think about micro life in Costco. Appreciate for your info

They suck. I have one and it's way off. Had to buy a new one. Different brand.
Not good. I returned it and bought Omron platinum. So much better.

Okay...so which is the best?
ADVICE. PLEASE!!!!!. MY OMERON GIVES ERRATIC READINGS ??????????CAN THEY BE RECALIBRATED. DO YOU. KNOW????? THANK YOU I APPRECIATE. ALL YOUR ADVICE
Call the company. Use the warranty.
Ten years ago I would swear by OMRON. That is no longer the case. Poorer quality in accuracy and long term dependency.
No good drs office would use these. They do make commercial units that are $450.00 for Dr offices. They do no use $66.00 amazon specials for that.
They do and they do often. Maybe not where you are, but here they do.
@@AdamJStoryDC Oh I don't doubt some use them. They are cheap but quality of care takes a nose dive. We lost that long ago in USA. Now its cheese burger type service.
@@Physics072 So what do you want to do, spend $450 on a home blood pressure machine? Would that be worth it to you?
@@AdamJStoryDC I would like to see objective testing done on all the units to see which is the most accurate. Which is the best bang for the dollar. There might be a 100.00 unit that is better than a 300.00 unit. You can tear them down to see how they are made what is cheap about them why they might fail faster than a different unit.
@@Physics072 Why not contact Omron and give them your suggestion? It's a good idea.
BC senora
👐👏
There is not such thing as "The Omron" They have like 11 different models they are not all the same.
@@Physics072 that’s like saying “There’s no such thing as Honda … they have like 21 different models and they’re not all the same.” Choose the one that fits your budget.
@@AdamJStoryDC I can afford any of them. So that budget thing is not valid. WHen if 2 of the 11 were not accurate on testing maybe engineering flaw in the design. Would be nice to know which one to avoid. Some times paying more does not over come a hardware issue. Wifi, blue tooth might not help accuracy at all. Performance is what counts.
@@Physics072 You're saying 2 of the 11 aren't accurate and you can afford the $450 blood pressure machine. Why don't you buy it then?
I just bought this brand and it SUCKS! - every reading I get, I get either normal blood pressure, or extremely low!.... it changes from one reading to the other.. even waiting a few minutes in between.. never again.
Bummer. What sucks is this is the one found in all doctor offices too.
This is so inaccurate piece of junk! The main reason I was looking to buy a blood pressure monitor was because my dentist used OMRON and it showed me elevated blood pressure. It has extremely inaccurate systolic reading that deviate 30 units up or down.
Then what is your suggestion, since you are against the OMRON?
