Where does the whole "Link doesn't talk" come from? Not being voiced and not talking are two different things. Link is usually sassy and forward. It's just that you control his responses. So it's not that big of a stretch to give him a voice.
with this idea… i do believe this can come to existence, and the problem can be counterfeited. nintendo being a very new film industry makes and opens up new doors to new possibilities. you have to keep in mine… they have one movie right now, without a sequel. think of big movie companies like marvel or dc that have multiple movies with different stories that all somehow correlate to each other. a zelda movie is totally possible even with the current circumstances. maybe nintendo can make a movie for every zelda game so far and have some zelda multiverse. idk i’m just throwing ideas out because this movie would be a hit, and i know for sure i would love it.
I want a photo realistic animated LOZ movie mainly inspired by TP, OOT, MM, and SS in terms of tone, character design, etc. Especially for Link. I want the classic defacto Green tunic masculine Link to come back.
If they make a Zelda movie, I hope they take inspiration from things like The Ghibli movies, kubo and the two strings, Indiana jones, and lord of the rings, maybe even stuff like the Witcher and castlevania’s anime The link voice probably could be fixed by making link either a man with a few words like John wick or let context clues like body language/face expressions speak or he can just talk like anyone
I would have the movie based off of skyward sword or we could have it as just different elements from different games all together like the Mario movie. That movie isn’t based off of a certain game. But there are cameos from other games.
I really thought that DreamWorks should be the responsables for a franchise like this, cause i mean they also have goofy characters and situations, but also can combine them with human like personalities and compelling conflicts. For a Links voice, either could be a character with few words like in jhon Wick 4 or take full advantage of corporal expression to make him express with poses and gestures like Wall-e, but at this case of course he would need a companion all the time like Zelda as a mentor at the same time. An for a plot, i think should be original but based at some games, amybe if ilumination would take this, would be better a vibe like Wind Waker being the most fitting one with Iluminations style. This movie needs one of the best directors ever with either Spielberg or Lucas. This could be one of the biggest animated movie ever. Zelda is a Medieval version of the hero’s journey mixed with many other stories. It has a link (no pun) to Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Neverending Story, The Avatar, Dune, and even more old, Peter Pan. This can put Nintendo where Disney was with their IP stories. Zelda could be it’s own cinematic universe. The Ocarina of Time could be a trilogy. Just my two cents. Also, the villain has to stand out, be scary to a degree
I completely agree that Illumination is the absolute wrong studio for this. Would you put Illumination on to making a Lord of the rings/Hobbit movie? I don't think so. Zelda is in a very similar vein to franchises like LOTR.
Since Zelda and Marios conception they've been distinctly different properties. They would have certain ideas and concepts that works for Zelda and then separate ones that worked for Mario. That being said, they should not use the same studio to make both franchises movies.
I genuinely feel like it would be an even bigger problem to explain the three split timelines to someone who has no idea what Zelda even is... Also there's just wayyy too many important characters in each game to just stuff in one big movie and keep it all organized and logical, tribes that exist in some games and don't in others... The list of why a Zelda movie is kind of unrealistic goes on hahaha😅😅
For a Zelda movie i personally think whatever company wants to make it can just be based on 1 game. That one game possibly being ocarina of time as it is one of most popular Zelda titles, or skyward sword because that's the game that starts of the main story line of the entire franchise. Also I think the movie should be made by either Dreamworks or Studio Ghibli. Dreamworks for the story telling and studio ghibli for animation (or both)
The real question: should Illumination use its cgi 3d photorealistic animation like in Mario or artistic painted animation like Dreamworks' Puss in Boots 2 (even the upcoming Illumination' own movie, Migration, seems to have it, kind of)?
@@CheerfulMarioBros nintendo already have only a deal with universial for making their movies. So i think it's too late to let ghibli studio's let do it
I think that if they are doing a Zelda movie, they are going to have to make one for every game, releasing them in the order of the timeline, one split at a time once you get there. The ocarina of time movie of course you could have Zelda explain the timeline splits, so that people would follow. I feel this would be the best possible way to accomplish this I think the next movie should be a splatting movie. That would be straight fire Or donkey Kong. Donkey Kong is probably the easiest! 😂 but splatoon would be fire
Imo I think that if the legend of Zelda would be doing good as a movie for illumination I would only trust Lord and Miller just because look back at the spider verse movies, cloudy of a chance of meatballs, the lego movie, the Mitchells vs the machines, and old clone high and from the spider verse movies proves how they can make a dark but kid friendly movie
I kid but I agree they should make a (better) show because there's so much lore/story the should fit in. They should have the 2019 links awakening intro/ending art style or the manga art style
My preference as an old nes fan: Two projects. For kids and family, A mario movie style animated film based on the retro 80's nes original but with original story and for adults a dark bloody anime series. No live action Zelda though please.
I wish it was an anime. I have seen fanarts and ai images of Zelda in a cartoonish style and honestly I hate it. Illumination or Dreamworks, I feel that cartoon is not the style that will fit Zelda, and neither live action. If only it could be an anime, the cutscenes in Link's awakening and the Zelda manga are really beautiful, it's the perfect style...
Honestly. I trust nintendo on this. I bet they already have designs and such fleshed out because i doubt Nintendo would go all in on this blind, they dont want any repeats of the 90s mario movie. Just my thoughts tho
The solution i think they will go is to make a movie on one of two premises: Skyward sword: It tells the beginning of the story. If done right it can be a intro to new people who haven't played zelda and still keep fans happy. Botw/Totk: this would be nintendo just capitalizing on the success of the best selling zelda games in the modern era of zelda that most people may be familiar with.
instead of being a movie that's being talked about, it could end up being a legend of zelda expansion to super nintendo world at Universal Studios parks, the next Nintendo movie should be a donkey kong spinoff
I Feel like illumination was trying their hardest not to add a fart joke in the Mario movie, If they're making a classic, cg animated movie I'd suggest Sony Animations, whoever, if they wanna make an anime, JUST GO WITH STUDIO GHIBLI
i think it would be awesome if they made a movie for every important game, skyward sword ocarina of time majoras mask twilgiht princess wind waker and botw/ageofcalamity/totk.
They can't give Ganondorf justice with just one film, imo. I'd argue it'd feel wrong to have him be the main villain in the first film, he's the endgame of many games in the series. The first film has to use a minor villain who's a follower of Ganon, like Ghirahim, Zant or Astor. Or make up a villain just for the first film (maybe they turn good in sequels?). Also, I'd adore if Link had companions from other races with him. Like a Rito and a Zora as close friends or rivals (Zora girl love interest and Rito boy rival/childhood friend that people will ship endlessly with Link).
The problem with an anime seiries is the art style. There are so many different art styles in Zelda games but none of them really resemble the style of an anime. I would rather they used 3d animation art style that would probably look something like from oot and that would connect the audience better with the characters.
Out of all studios Universal is the worst. The Zelda movie would have to be an artistic, darker, and more compelling story than the family friendly route could offer. Also making Link talk would be extremelly offputting compared to him being the usual stoic silent protagonist. And I can definitely see some forced humor which would just not work well. The only way I could see it work is if they took a more simplistic art style like Botw and Totk, and made it a twisted story with a silent Link.
The Legend of Zelda NEEDS to be live action. Ive said this for years. Us fans who have been waiting for the moment that the April Fools Day trailer became an actual serious film deserve this. Animated could work if they go with Wind Waker's style but I just wanna see it in live action. Its a grand and epic setting akin to Lord of The Rings and deserves respect.
Mario has no plot at it's heart. You run right, break blocks, stomp on gumbas, collect mushrooms, save a princess. But Zelda allowed you to adventure!! Adventures require plots. You can't throw in action scene after action scene. Things gotta make sense. Things MUST connect in a Zelda film. Mario doesn't have that requirement.
I’m just scared that link will be talking the whole time. And also if he’s silent the whole time, since I’m not sure how a movies main character can not talk
Honestly a nice Zelda trilogy like lord of the rings would be best. If you want you can even pull a Spider-Man and have different actors for each iteration of link for future iterations. Easy movie series like avengers and marvel.
It doesn't have the modern zelda appeal, but a Link's awakening movie could work. It's short it has wacky characters and a bittersweet ending. Also, Gibli could make zelda work as an anime.
The whole Zelda franchise is gonna change if this is true. A perfect execution is needed, Otherwise the fan base will tank so quick and Zelda will be shelved till rebranding
You’re actually super late. There was a confirmed Netflix official Zelda series they were producing a couple months ago, pre SVB collapse and they had to cancel it
I think the reason why they won't make an anime series is because Zelda actually isn't that big in Japan. It's freaking huge in the west for sure but if they were to make an anime series you're not going to get the same people who watched the Mario Movie. Only people who are interested in anime or those who know Zelda would really want to watch it. In a roundabout way the best way to adapt Zelda is with a western animation studio but for the love of god it should not be Illumination. I just don't trust them with Zelda, Dreamworks maybe but for sure not Illumination.
I would love a Zelda movie or tv series. My vote is for a Zelda tv series that fallows the game timeline but I have a feeling if they made a Zelda movie or tv series they would probably make it fallow just one of the links. I think most likely ether the og link, the hero of time or the hero of the wild. I think if they only pick one link the hero of time would be the best because he has the most fleshed out personality.
I for one really want to see a loz movie. I would love it to be either live action or animated...but why...why illumination???? Yes the mario movie was a good movie and illumination did a great job, because illumination and mario was a good match. But loz??? I would KILL to see a studio like dreamworks do loz, especially after seeing their work with puss in boots. But illumination does not fit with the tone of zelda
Here's the thing. I think I can speak for a lot of people that a Smash type crossover at the end of a marvel-like movie phase would be AWESOME. Something where the mario universe, zelda universe, and any others they make movies for come together to take on some massive evil would be amazing. But having an anime series instead of a movie would not work, it would need to be a movie
Why not a series? Gathering all the power needed to fight Ganondorf or whoever else would be the villain from multiple complex temples sounds like a 6-8hr movie.
you make good points, but i feel like it would be MUCH better to make a series in a different style other than anime. Zelda has always had a unique art style, and it would be far more appealing to mimic the art style from the game instead of making an anime. This is also helpful to consumers who aren't so fond of anime, considering how a more generalized art style, theme, and character behavior would have a very little percentage of consumers unsatisfied.
Thanks so much for watching! What do you think the best approach for Nintendo & Illumination is here? Just being clear, I’d love a Zelda movie! But I do see a more neat approach! 💜

The solution i think they will go is to make a movie on one of two premises:
Skyward sword: It tells the beginning of the story. If done right it can be a intro to new people who haven't played zelda and still keep fans happy.
Botw/Totk: this would be nintendo just capitalizing on the success of the best selling zelda games in the modern era of zelda that most people may be familiar with.
I recon there’s gonna be a movie for each branch in the timeline idk though
instead of being a movie that's being talked about, it could end up being a legend of zelda expansion to super nintendo world at Universal Studios parks, the next Nintendo movie should be a donkey kong spinoff
I Feel like illumination was trying their hardest not to add a fart joke in the Mario movie,
If they're making a classic, cg animated movie I'd suggest Sony Animations, whoever, if they wanna make an anime, JUST GO WITH STUDIO GHIBLI
i think it would be awesome if they made a movie for every important game, skyward sword ocarina of time majoras mask twilgiht princess wind waker and botw/ageofcalamity/totk.
Yes.
Another problem is that link doesnt speak so i expect the movie to not be that popular with the main character not speaking
Ngl a zelda anime would be pretty freaking dope
The problem with an anime seiries is the art style. There are so many different art styles in Zelda games but none of them really resemble the style of an anime. I would rather they used 3d animation art style that would probably look something like from oot and that would connect the audience better with the characters.
I think zelda should be a mini-series with CGI
Out of all studios Universal is the worst. The Zelda movie would have to be an artistic, darker, and more compelling story than the family friendly route could offer. Also making Link talk would be extremelly offputting compared to him being the usual stoic silent protagonist. And I can definitely see some forced humor which would just not work well. The only way I could see it work is if they took a more simplistic art style like Botw and Totk, and made it a twisted story with a silent Link.
Will link talk?
Cause I need me some "excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me Princess"
The Legend of Zelda NEEDS to be live action. Ive said this for years. Us fans who have been waiting for the moment that the April Fools Day trailer became an actual serious film deserve this. Animated could work if they go with Wind Waker's style but I just wanna see it in live action. Its a grand and epic setting akin to Lord of The Rings and deserves respect.
If they use one of the lighthearted games (wind waker) it could work but if they use a darker tone games this ain't gonna work
I want them to adapt Wind Waker, Toon Link is far more expressive has actual motivation and the characters are fun
I could imagine something like War of Rohirrim style anime movie😮
i want a more long lord of the rings style trilogy. that would be awesome.
Im sure it will be horrible to make it with illumination, zelda is so much serious for being à funny movie for Kids
The movies plot has to be link vs ganondorf. I dont want it to be about idk, the yiga clan?
Bro is playing TP and SS in the background😎
zelda anime would be 🔥
I agree full heartedly plus an anime would last longer to watch even though I'm still exited for anything to happen with link and Zelda
The whole Zelda franchise is gonna change if this is true. A perfect execution is needed, Otherwise the fan base will tank so quick and Zelda will be shelved till rebranding
Did this guy just suggest that they put Zelda on NETFLIX? Lol...
Netflix is the graveyard of content. Netflix is trash. Worst, suggestion, ever.
That’s just not true. Zelda is massive in Japan, if they trend it in a LOTR style this will bring in a major amount of new fans
If it’s with Universal, it doesn’t necessarily have to be illumination. Universal owns dreamworld, and I think they could make a fantastic Zelda movie
I feel like the movie is going to be based off Age of Calamity - Tears of the Kingdom.
I way I see it Link doesn’t have to talk. He can use sign language instead.
We could get a decent movie but with a whole new story and not with illumination,I just hope they will make it a game too.
The answer is quite simple. They'll use toon link.
I love the spirit tracks music
Here's the thing. I think I can speak for a lot of people that a Smash type crossover at the end of a marvel-like movie phase would be AWESOME. Something where the mario universe, zelda universe, and any others they make movies for come together to take on some massive evil would be amazing. But having an anime series instead of a movie would not work, it would need to be a movie
Why not a series? Gathering all the power needed to fight Ganondorf or whoever else would be the villain from multiple complex temples sounds like a 6-8hr movie.
I reckon illumination could pull it off with nintendos help
you make good points, but i feel like it would be MUCH better to make a series in a different style other than anime. Zelda has always had a unique art style, and it would be far more appealing to mimic the art style from the game instead of making an anime. This is also helpful to consumers who aren't so fond of anime, considering how a more generalized art style, theme, and character behavior would have a very little percentage of consumers unsatisfied.
