I have an old 45 of this song, and it still plays perfectly. Since I work every Saturday, it's my personal tradition to zoom home from work, grab a root beer out of my fridge, put this 45 on my record player, and dance like a madman for all 2 minutes and 56 seconds of this song. It's one of the few things that brings me any happiness and temporarily cures my depression. Thank you, Les and the boys.
yeah you go
god bless you
cool
Keep strong sir and great music choice.
This was the very first 45rpm I ever bought. I'm not going to admit how many after that.
This was the top roller skating song for all us 4th graders in 1975.
You really get it. Nice job. ☮️
Indeed!
Those of us too old to know who the f#@k Kenny is or give a damn about his birthday....
My one girlfriend was nuts about them, and yes about the skating rink. From Reading, Pa. I haven't seen her since. We were best friends for a short season. Would love to see her today, all these years later. I think she was in the foster system, if I remember right. Danette? Janette? Dam...I can picture her face and hair. She was crazy about one of the guys. I was nuts about Dennis Wilson and the Beach Boys while she was in her BCR's craze. Great memory
@@dizbrainanew what's funny if I'm understanding your reply is that you were in Reading Pa in the mid 70s. I was in Erie Pa.
Today is Monday January 29 2024 and I'm 63 yrs old and I still love this song
Well, happy belated birthday. I'm not far behind you, and I, too, still love this song.

Im 19 and have this on a 45.

Keep on rocking, my friend.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who starts singing S-A-T-U-R in a full blown Scottish accent ALL because of “So I married an axe murderer”
They’ll always be first on my Scottish wall of fame.

One of the greatest chants in Rock N Roll history (if not the greatest). Supposedly it inspired the Hey Ho Let's Go chant in Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones. And of course Saturday night should be celebrated as much as possible. 😃
That's what I believe Dee Dee Ranone said
Hey ho, LET'S GO !!!!
The best part of the story? I think Joey really thought they would compete with these guys. I think his not-so-secret desire was to be on the cover of teen-beat.
This is one of those songs you only need to listen to once to fall in love with it.
This song is a classic ❤

Surprisingly, this song by The Bay City Rollers was the inspiration for Bltzkrieg Bop by The Ramones.
They were both in Umbrella Academy wtf??
Is that really true?! Cobain cited them as an influence too, but he was sort of joking. But he sort of wasn't.
I also watch trash theory
This literally sounds more like the Ramones than any punk band so not really surprising.
"Hey Ho, Let's Go!"
I remember cruising in my '74 Vega with this song on my 8-track. Those were the days.
If this song doesn't get you going, you have no pulse !

This song was my favorite song when I was in gym class in elementary school. My gym teacher played it often whenever she wanted. She recently passed away last week Tuesday and the funeral was today. So whenever I play this song I’ll always remember her and the good times we had in gym class. Fly high to the angels, don’t forget about me, and thank you for an amazing gym class and for being part of my childhood. You will be dearly missed. Godspeed 👼✝️

This group formed in 1970 in Edinburgh, Scotland Though The Bay City Rollers were initially hyped as the new Beatles, " The Rollers actually were cute young musicians who were vigorously promoted to a market of teenagers. Probably the most successful act ever to emerge from Scotland, the group scored its first English hit in 1971. The next few years with manager Tam Paton who named the group by sticking a pin in a U.S. map and hitting Bay City Michigan. Rollermania spread to the U.S. briefly in early 1976 with the groups first stateside concerts and a late-1975 #1 single Saturday Night. The cover of Dusty Springfield I Only Want To Be With You was a fine song too an early hit from The 60's that went to #12 in 1964.

It reminds me of the heavyweights movie
Confession: I remember the first time I heard this song. It was in a Planters Peanuts commercial back in 2007. I then spent the next ten years of my life thinking it was a Beatles song.
This literally sounds like the music you hear during a Scooby-Doo chase sequence
Shaggy: "Like, it's the g-g-g-ghost!"
Ghost: [Zombie-like groan]
Scooby-Doo: "Ret's get out of here!"
[Scooby and Shaggy flee]
Velma: "You know, Shaggy and Scooby had the right idea! Wait for me!"
[She starts running]
Fred and Daphne: "Velma!"
[They go after her. Cue the usual recycled animation of the gang running]

1975: after charting in the UK for awhile, they came to the US with this one, and hit big. And I first heard it when it was just an Arista 45, just before Christmas. Long live Scotland!

Yup, it's Saturday night, so I'm playing this! I was like 9 when this song came out, and it still hasn't gotten old!
Agree i remember going to high school dances back in the day and this song was playing lol great memories cheers .
I feel ya, Vanessa!! However, in my case, I was 5, I think; my oldest siblings were in high school, lol. My sister had this on a 45; I wound up getting it, and I think I still have it in my “vault” somewhere! The B side was pretty good, too; I might not be spelling it right, but it was “Marilina”, a decent song in its own right.
@@TheGraveyardDogThanks man, you reminded me to go to the Little Big Store in Raymond soon, I wanna see if Betty has any BCR on vinyl. She probably does, she's got everything else, lol! I mean, I've still got a decent collection, plus I inherited my uncle's collection when he went Home. I also have a lot of my grandpa and grandma's from the 40s and 50s. Just no BCR, my uncle was more of a Zeppelin and Grand Funk fan, lol!
Rest easy Les. You made my drives up and down Main St in the 80's with the 8 tract blowing more exciting.

I've always loved how this song sounds more like something from the mid-60's than the mid-70's, if I'm not mistaken there was some nostalgia for the pre-Vietnam War era 60's at the time..
If I'm not mistaken this was around when Happy Days was the biggest show on TV so that fits.
