I was 12 when this song came out. I saw this group on SOUL TRAIN. I think the lyrics are beautiful, and this song didn't get the credit it really deserved. the song "ALL IN LOVE IS FAIR" by Stevie Wonder took precedence over this song.
God Almighty Father blessed this soul. And the person that wrote the dedications to her. Gods unconditional love never left you and a blessing of more grandchildren ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for posting this video! I’ve always loved this song since the first time I heard it when I was 15. That was 50 years ago and it still hits me at my very core emotional level 😢 I found my “Wildflower” 41 years ago & we’re still going strong!!!
Awesome! awesome! She's your "wildflower" indeed,,. You ever say to her, "If allowed just one possession" I would pick you from the garden to be mine,,,??
Yes, yes, it was 50 years ago, also for me. Back in the Spring of 1973 when the song came out and I think went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. My first and only wife was my "Wildflower" And "The Silent Wind Still Blows, That Only She Hears & She Goes! Well, she went and now our daughter is a free and gentle child growing wild! I would still "pick them both from the garden to be mine!"
Adequately proportionate.."The song and the chosen background"...A hugging felicity that thrills and insinuate a loving mind...The kites of cotton crowns the atmosphere with a loveliness that nature proudly gives...A meander to an artists hand if his stroke is timid and bland...Give it for a copy to draw and replicate but not me for its more than my heart wishes to have...Pin the ribbon to the bosom of a loving wild flower that exudes in fragrance and mocking ..Gurgle for its pot!!!!
The first time I've heard part of this song was in 1991 when we entered a bar in Lake Havasu City. It was during our second USA Holiday. Had no idea who the singer/band was/were. Back in the Netherlands about 3 weeks later, heard this song again on the radio. It was on a non stop music station and the track was not announced. I though it must be a new song. Maybe a new blues album. Not my favorite music style in those days. Went to a record shop and ask the guy if he knew any new blues album release and he said maybe Gary Moore, so I listened the entire album, skipping track by track and even tried other Gary Moore's albums, since I just didn't know any other blues singer at the time. But than I realized the radio program in which I heard the song, was listed on a radio guide. I knew the day and even the hour, as I was riding to a car garage for a service. And there I found Wildflower by Skylark. I went back to the Free Record shop, the biggest record shop in our country back in those days, and asked the guy if they had the record. But they didn't. He went to the PC and found the track on a best of the 70 ties, 4 CDs compilation. I believe the track was from 1972. We were quite surprised because it was all but outdated. It was the only Skylark song on the CDs. It costed 59 Dutch Guildens, which was around 45 dollars if I'm correct. Quite a lot, since most of the other 60 tracks were rubbish. Still what a great song.
Your story about this reminds me of my own search for "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. While shopping record shops for it I found Neil Diamond's "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" LP; and, like "Free Bird," it became one of my favorites. Thank you for your story. And my grandparents came to the US from the Netherlands.
Actually, I read that this started as a poem written by a police officer for his girlfriend. The poem fell into the hands of David Foster who was with Skylark at the time and he gave it to one of his band members who wrote the song. It is very beautiful.
I do not believe women understand how truly beautiful they are because they cannot see themselves through the eyes of a man. I remember this beautiful song from my youth. It fits so well with what I was experiencing as a young boy: I was in awe of girls! Their femininity was intoxicating!!! I saw girls as precious, gentle flowers needing to be cared for, protected, appreciated, and adored. At 60 and single again, I'm still intoxicated by femininity.
The only one that I can remember in this song was my neighbor who is so good in singing...I heard him singing this song when I was just 10...I felt sad knowing I can't hear him singing this coz his gone..he died 3 years ago...but his voice still in my head whenever I hear this song in everywhere I go...uncle g-bobs is singing with the lord up in heaven now...
The first time I heard this song I was very young and it resonated with me and I didn’t know why but as I grew up through the years it actually was a preview of the life I was to live ❤️🩹 I will forever be grateful to the hard lessons I had to learn so here’s a shout out to Rudy V Gutierrez Ride or Die 🙏✝️🙏
