Without a doubt, Dungen (based on their first eight studio albums from 2001 to 2016, plus what I've seen of videos of their live performances) are one of my top all-time favorite audio artists. They've conjured up a unique magical range of music, mood and aesthetics that I find uplifting and inspiring. Often having a vintage vibe I adore, yet timeless and forward-moving. Their well-considered musicianship is another factor. Every time I listen to the aforementioned studio albums, I shake my head in admiration. Dungen have my utmost respect and love.
@@vladtepes3201 While my personal top four favorite Dungen albums (in alphabetical order) are "Allas Sak", "Häxan", "Skit I Allt" and "Ta Det Lugnt", I first heard "Ta Det Lugnt", so I would probably recommend that one first.
Dungen is one of my favorite bands, and Ta Det Lugnt is possibly my favorite album of the 21st century, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that their selections are fascinating. I have not heard a good chunk of these artists, so I'm really looking forward to listening, thanks guys!
Two of them have super sophisticated tastes, while the other two are bringing more common records. These different approaches to music might explain a bit about why Dungen is so special. Generally though, it's just really fun seeing what inspires the musicians you listen to.
Sophisticated? Just because of the genre? I don't think so, just different tastes doesn't make one genre better then the other as that's subjective. The other two that you called common could clearly by anyone's standards be called sophisticated. Just more classical and the other ones like more modern music.
you can't compare a beat maker to a classic composer, so yeah to me one is sophisticated and the other is just what he is... the thing is I think all of them have really amazing tastes, but Holmegard has something a little special

hell yeah, Yumi Zouma love, Nisennenmondai love, Melody's Echo Chamber love, etc etc etc These guys have excellent taste and that is reflected in their excellent records!
These guys are great. Seen them many times, always a great show and they bring such a charming Swedish vibe and wonder to every show. And the music is pretty darn good, too! ;).
Kind of surprised that he liked Melody Echo Chamber, makes me believe that he could also be into Broadcast, Portishead, Cocteau Twins and/or The United States of America... Anyway, love Dungen, especially their last two records, and awesome from Amoeba for bringing up this series to youtube! cheers from Northern Germany
@@xfbhhhhh Melody Echo Chamber's first album was produced alongside Kevin Parker, and the second album was produced alongside Dungen. So there lies your answer :)
I know of many Swedish artists becoming big singing in English. But getting recognised outside of Sweden by singing in Swedish, that is not easy. They definitvely took over from the classic 60's and 70's Swedish psychedelic rock and just went along with it, adding their own flavour to it. If you're a language geek, they do have a rather thick Swedish accent when they speak English. If you'd really like to try a stereotypical Swedish accent while speaking English, this is EXACTLY what it sounds like.
Love them and their selections. Several bands completely new and several I love similarly. I wish I could ask them if they've listened to Arthur Verocai!
Yumi Zouma did a full album cover of Oasis's What's The Story (Morning Glory) for the Sounds Delicious series through Turntable Kitchen and it's SOO good. Unsurprising to see them repped by Dungen.
I really didnt think their taste wold be so soft and liked new music .I would go bored after 5 listenings of these records and then have to wait 1-2 years for a second session .Nothing here for me that i have listen to before . If you want to know my taste as 20 year old Swedish Elegi was one band , and yes not Lars Winnerbäck but a girl group in the early 1980 s.
An itsy bitsy teeny weeny bit of powder woudn't have gone amiss ? Why do all these Amoeba bands look so nondescript and boring ? What the hell happened to once overflooding 60s and 70's charisma ? Now *that* guy >1:51< just *has* to be in my band..........

Thank you Matias, I did not know about Nisennenmondai, gave that album a listen and was blown away. I bought it the next day.
yumi zouma is ace, thanks

Amazing picks. I know some, and will eagerly check out the rest.
His description of Ariel Pink is spot on! Always though Ariel was a modern day Zappa
I suspected Dungen would recommend some really unique records, they did not disappoint
Dungen are such a great band. I will check out their recommendations.
thanks for the Marcos Valle and Yumi Zouma
Yumi Zouma did a full album cover of Oasis's What's The Story (Morning Glory) for the Sounds Delicious series through Turntable Kitchen and it's SOO good. Unsurprising to see them repped by Dungen.
I ❤️DUNGEN.
thanks! Fleet Foxes brought me to Dungen. and Dungen brought me to several albums they present here.
Gustav is sooo beautiful ❤
I didn't really like dungeon when I first heard them. But now there isn't a song that is not fascinating that they have. My personal favorite is 4.
Dungen

You should do a What's in my Bag with the band Hinds !!!! That would be so coooool.

Where are they from?
Sweden
If metalocalypse were true music nerds.
shouts to wolfgang mo
Gustav kind of reminds me of Elijah Wood.
dungen are way better than melody echo chamber
Dungen has eight albums. Melody only has one. Not a proper comparison.
Mozart is the best...
when the dude chirps him for spending $500 on one record lol.
1:33 i prefer Rakta
“Reo Pink”? Haha
tearing up over Mozart. interesting.
Nice picks, but the Zappa comparison is pretty ridiculous.
the music elitist fans will be pleased with this episode hehe
swedes speak swedish
Used to enjoy this but it's too full of Americans no one over here's heard of?
Is this the asperger's edition of WIMB?
It's funny - when really intelligent folk are labeled with asperger's, because the people viewing them are having trouble reading them
dannytun It's also cause English isn't their first language
