- In the 1960s and 1970s, The GOSPEL SINGING JUBILEE was the most popular gospel music TV show seen across America.
The program featured a cast of amazing artists every Sunday morning, such as The Hinsons, The Rambos, The Happy Goodman Family, The Dixie Echoes, The Cathedrals, The Inspirations, The Statesmen, The Blackwood Brothers & many others
Every Sunday morning, my Dad would turn this wonderful show on for us to listen to while we got ready for church! Sure miss this show and my Dad and Momma!
I remember as a child getting up on Sunday morning and listening to these old gospel songs I wish we still had these kinds of shows on in today's times it would be a sweet Blessing
Mom and dad had a reel to reel Sears tape recorder and every Sunday morning I would record Gospel Jubilee. We moved to Southern California from Louisiana in 1964 and I still recorded up until the time I got married in late 1964. I moved back to Louisiana and mom and dad and the recorder and all the tapes stayed in California. I remember asking mom years later if she still had all the tapes and told her the next time I visited I would like to get them. Mom died a couple months later and I never saw the tapes again and no one knew where they were. Unless they were destroyed someone has years and years and years of the Sunday Morning Gospel Jubilee.. God I wish I had them. It was years and years of Sunday mornings. You could hear mom in the background making breakfast and the rest of us getting ready for church which we were never late for. Oh what memories those tapes held.
The goodmans lived in my hometown. I remember delivering furniture to their houses when I was 17 years old
When I live in Pensacola Florida in the 60's. Wear Tv 3. Where I listen to this. I'm 59 year old now. I wish they would bring this Back
Every Sunday morning, this show was on television, we listened while getting ready for church. My Dad just passed away and loved gospel music. Today we say goodbye to him. Rest in heaven.
We used to get ready for church listening to the gospel singing jublee, from the moment we woke up!!! brings back sweet memories!
Thanks for posting this. Some of my favorite childhood memories were getting ready for Sunday church while the Jubilee was on TV.
I remember seeing them somewhere when I was young! I grew up in church in Mississippi, listening to Quartets and Southern Gospel Music. The Lighthouse has always been one of my favorites!
41 minutes in, Jake Hess singing "God Will Take Care of You".
We used 2 watch the gospel jubilee every Sunday morning in the sixties it was wonderful
You don't have to be religious to love this wonderful music. I grew up watching this show every Sunday morning,
Every Sunday morning on Wmc channel, 5 in Memphis TN at 8oclock we would sit in front of the TV before church.
As a child I would go spend a few weeks every summer with my grandmother. She could only pick up a few t.v. stations but one of them had gospel music all day on Sundays. We'd go to Sunday school and church, come home to lunch and watch the programs. This was one of those programs. Now I can watch them again. Great memories. I miss you Grandmother.
in going through many of the songs and artists from back then, I find that the old stuff was geared more to praise and glorification of God and Christ, but as we moved forward, country got mixed in, country-gospel, rock-gospel, bluegrass-gospel and so many of those tunes are the foot-stomping make the flesh feel good and far away from the old reverence they used to do. signs of the times and so it is.
This world needs this type of music now more than ever
God Is Calling His Children Home. Now They Singing Up There In Heaven.
My grandparents always watched the "Gospel Singing Jubilee" every Sunday morning on WTVT Channel 13 in Tampa.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BLESSING FOR NEW GENERATIONS!
