I'm in the set of people who really don't find "American" comedy funny, Ive watched any number of shows and at best I've smiled .. not sure what that means

We have heard that same sentiment from others, maybe English comedy is a bit funnier!

I have to 99% agree with You. But the 1% missing is for the American shows "CHEERS" & "FRASIER"

Isn’t the big difference that American comedy is about the line or action, and British comedy is about the reaction to that line or action?
Another thing is that British comedies can happily have a Basil Fawlty or Rupert Rigsby in the lead, whereas the American lead has to be likeable..

American "comedy" is weak and corny compared to British class. Think instant coffee compared to the real thing. Our whole approach to humour is far more sophisticated than the painting by numbers kind of stuff the Americans churn out. I suppose it depends what you're brought up with. I'm glad I was brought up on this side of the pond.

That's NOT Peter Sellers (in the Alec Guinness section)
That actor was Dennis Price, Peter Sellers was never in Kind hearts & coronets.
Try to get it right if you're going to do these types of video otherwise what's the point.

@@WhyFunnyUA-cam I don't mean to add to the pile but you were talking about Fiona Shaw during the Killing Eve segment but you were showing footage of Phoebe Waller-Bridge

American comedy is all about persona and reasonably amusing scripts working to a pattern which becomes too predictable. The American series is too often too long and they try always to avoid audience and sponsors offence.
The Brits just let rip without any deference to audiences and the skill of the well trained actors working brilliant scripts that rarely work a series to death, makes the difference between the two styles of comedy.

I think that is why IT Crowd did not work in the US. My funniest movies are Holy Grail, Caddyshack, Fish Called Wanda and Airplane.

The UK hands down!!! Take the show "Man About The House" from the UK..funny show and I laughed a lot. When the USA got ahold of it, it turned into 'Three's Company' one of the dumbest show to ever be on TV.

I think it's best to not remake them and show the original instead, you'll always get an audience for that. A uniquely British or American comedy isn't going to work if remade for a slightly different culture. Monty Python crossed the pond but could you imagine it working if it had been remade?
