I remembered my mother, who died 32 years ago, used to make cascadoo but preparing a curry stuffing of curry, saffron, onions, green seasoning, tomatoes, and it must have tamarind. She will stuff to brim and slightly fry them and set aside. Then she would chounkay the curry, and any remainder of the stuffing and mango pieces. After the sauce cooks she would add the cascadoo which was slightly fried with flour. This flour also thickened the sauce. That's mama's recipe, girl.
