I love my housework/made grinder! I learned a lot about fabrication while building it, a "hidden" bonus that will spill over into your knife making and any other building project you take on :)

I'm a knife and scissor sharpener. I've had several customers aske me to repair handles, I've done a couple but realized replacing the handle would be easier, so I'm getting in to handle making. just bought the OBM. I'm happy with the mix of features at the price point. The things you point out that it lacks compared to the BeaumontTX don't affect what I'm doing. I'll shape handles with it, but I'll also be able to do convex sharpening on it so it serves two purposes. Thanks for the great videos!

The revolution through Housewerts is where its at. Awesome grinder with a larger group of followers constantly making it better. And their customer service is 2nd to none. Its the Kleenex of belt grinders 👍

Good review. I'm sort of in the market for a grinder. Using a "set screw" in the middle of a tube is just stupid.. I see this done all the time. Best solution is to put the "set screw" on the corner of the female / outer tube so the force is applied to the corner of the "inner tube." this locks the tube in securely by forcing it into a corner. Takes some more work, but is best.

If you were to just mill in a slot down the tube the roughed up area would be down in the grove and not on the surface.
Your assessment is spot on. I can add a couple things things you are probably hesitant to say.😂. TX is a very slightly inferior copy of Northridge. Unfortunately, doesn’t look like Northridge is selling grinders anymore. OBM charges a lot for shipping and their customer support is rumored to be questionable. KMG has occasional discounts and I think over free shipping. the Brodbecks price has become ridiculous. I guess you have to fund the shillers. Beyond that, it’s pretty rough and probably not ideal for somebody who is a beginner at any price. Honestly, I think KMG currently has the best value.
The Kmg currently has 650 off! Best bang for the buck if you ask me!!

I’ve never used those grinders before but ever since I built Brian’s revolution it’s been super good! Super industrial like the kmg at a better price. Ofcourse you’d have to build it yourself which isn’t difficult if you know how to weld

Diktator's build-yourself kit is light years ahead of Housewert's revolution, I have built both. Housewert is an internet content creator who makes tons of money off YT etc with nice pics. His machine is nothing compared to the Diktator. Most recently it looks as though he's cutting his plates out on a plasma cutter, shocking. Not that Housewert's or any other build yourself grinder kit can ever come even close to the two top notch machines featured in this video.

Fill the pitting in the tooling arm with jb weld or something better and file it down every year or so. You’ll be great.

Mine is setup for just forward however I think you can add a reverse switch. Double check with them first though!

My burr king uses a ratchet system to put tension on the belt. It is nice. Compared to my kmg.

Great Review and feedback. Thanks!! I bought the OBM a few weeks ago based off your review! thanks. ... quick question, how close do you run your platen to the belt on your flat platen? I am running mine about 1/16 off the belt and then push into the paten when grinding, but I've been trying to see a close up of yours is set up. Not sure if that question makes, sense. If it can't be easily answered - thats fine haha :)
Put it right up against the belt. If it’s too close you’ll get a little heat build up. How do you like it so far?

How does the tracking compare between the two? I have the older model OBM with the motor that mounts separately from the chassis. Really have no complaints, but I am looking to get a new grinder that tilts. Thanks. Nice video!

Ameribrade is a excellent machine! and the people are great…
Bought a Fastback last year. Built like a tank and very well designed. I love it and felt like it was great "bang for the buck".
Ameribrade should not be mentioned in the same context as OBM & KMG. Ameribrade uses inferior materials & processes compared to the other two, yet charges more. For instance their tooling arms are cheap steel tubing, not solid aluminum bars like a knife grinder should be, ditto for the d-backing plates: thin steel instead of aluminum. Their tooling arms are 2" square, all other popular knife grinders use 1.5" square, so once you buy Ameribrade you're stuck with them. Their 'fastback' is based on a machine that a guy from Poland used to sell on eBay: cheap formed sideplates with ridiculous small tubes as spacers between the plates. Fair enough to make things as cheap as possible if you're trying to put a cheap machine on the market, but theirs' is not cheap, it's dang expensive! Then you still have to pay extra if you want the thing to tilt? IMO OBM is the best value for money big boy machine on the market. They also ship same day or next, NO other company does that.
