    We want to give a big thank you to KEEN for providing us with both pairs of boots in exchange for an honest review.I have been using the KEEN NXIS EVO boots for over a year now, while the NXIS Explorers have been used only a few times, allowing us to offer you an initial impressions review on the latter.

    Hello from Australia: Keen Men's Targhee III Oxford Low Hiking Shoes Dark Earth Mulch are the most comfortable shoes I have worn in many years for my rather board feet; BUT SADLY the soles don't last even when used mostly on clay soil river country with no stones/rocks; and some bitumen/concrete walking.
    I'm 70, closer to 71 , and wear then outdoors for only few hours (at most) a day but not everyday --- basically a dog (oldish) walk. I'm not talking years ; maybe a year and the soles have lost most tread :) . Not just one pair ; but 2 pairs. KEEN have sent me a free "good will" pair I'm still use if not sell and a shop assistant told me she has friends who said the similar.
    So disappointing for Au$200 leather shoes and also similar mid hiking boots.
    Shoe testers/reviewers need to come up with a sole test chart. I can send you photos.
    Cheers

      That’s a pity, to be honest I didn’t rate the Targhee boot. I’ve been wearing the leather EVO all through winter on 3-5 mile dog walks each day and there’s still plenty of life left in soles.

    Had the Evos since July. Agree with your comments on them. Would like better waterproofness but comfort-wise I love them.
    SportsShoes have had them down at £85 so would buy them again next time they're that price.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому

      Yeah I can totally live with that for the comfort. The leather ones appear to perform better, so may alternate them depending on the weather.

    Cheers for showing us those boots, they look in not bad nick for having been used as much as you do. I've looked at Keen boots online as the toe box does look wide, but sturdiness seems to be lacking (just a personal preference, wearing my Bhutan's year round is probably over kill) might get the Pros for my birthday and give them a bash during the summer. Cheers Robin

      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому

      Cheers mate, I've had a pair of Bhutans too, and prior to that the Burma Pros that the Bhutans replaced. The Keen efforts do lack a bit of sturdiness, but a lot of people are moving away from that traditional more stout hiking boot. I love the flexibility of these and I won't go back to a firmer boot for 3 season use.

    Nice wee presentation Robin 👍The waterproof ones look no bad and the price is round about average-ish for good boots these days. The other ones looked well battered it looks as if you have been wearing them while kicking a bag of bricks up and doon Leith Walk for the past year LOL! Nice one mate hope all is good big man :)))

    I had keen targhee 3’s which were epic…. Except the sides split in the same place on both pairs I had within around a year of having them 😵‍💫 so I’ve moved on as too expensive to keep replacing x great review vid though

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому +1

      Cheers Kerry. The Targhees have the exact same fit. I didn't think they were grippy enough to be honest. You'd expect more than a year from them.

    • @DrunkOnWanderlust
      @DrunkOnWanderlust Рік тому

      @@WalkWithWallace I liked the wide fit as I have flat feet and for me grip was ok, the flexibility of the sole was also a win
      But they both split along the side in the same place so won’t be buying again x

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому

      @@DrunkOnWanderlust yeah the wide fit is the win for me. These seem more rebust than the Targhees to be fair, given the amount of abuse they had last year.

    Nice review bud. Like Jamie said, think Bhutans for me too, all year round is overkill. Sometimes feel too heavy. Need something lighter and flexible. Might look intae them. 🤔 Free pair for yur pal? 🤭😉

      Yes, the Oxford has the same fit as the regular Targhee, which the NXIS boots are based on.

    Got 1st pair of targee few months ago, find they dig in across my foot due to design, also insole arch support no use so changed that however thats normal. The sole has come away slightly at the edge so over all i think they are poor quality. I do like the wide toe box although i wont be buying a 2nd pair of keen and will wear these untill they really fall apart.😂

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  Рік тому

      Must admit I didn't get on with the Targhee either, I got the dig across the foot too. I much prefer the NXIS model, the Evos in this vid have stood up to a lot of abuse on rocky terrain.
