please keep those World Cup videos coming. it's great to learn the history of football, and you do know quite a lot already :-) I was 19yo when this WC happened. being from Brazil, of course this is all about Romário: 1994 was the peak season in his career, he was in that famous Barcelona side managed by Cruyff, lead Brazil in the WC and was chosen by FIFA the footballer of the year
I always thought World Cup 94 had so many great goals. I even have the game ball of that tournament as well
Man, I was 9 years old when WC-94 was playing. Living in Sweden and watching every single game live that was shown from 1am to 7am.
To give some perspective on this World Cup for you:
1. Stoichkov Bulgaria) and Salenko (Russia) won Golden Boot, both finished on 6 gols.
2. Sweden was the first of only 2 nations to score a goal on Brazil during this WC. (Sweden wasn't even expected to qualify for the knockout stage by the experts)
3. Yes, that was the legendary Rudy Völler in Germany, also Jürgen Klinsmann is considered one of the best German players EVER.
4. Before the WC, Tomas Ravelli wasn't really considered to be selected for Sweden after having a really really bad performance for some time in his club and was thinking about hanging up his boots. I'm glad he didn't!
5. Andrés Escobar was, as you said, tragically shot to death in his hometown after Colombia was knocked out. People blamed him for Colombia being knocked out after being top contenders to win the Cup.
5. Two of the best coaches in the world (right now) played in this world cup.
Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid) and Pep Guardiola (Man City).
the world cup with more starts that I Saw- romario, rai, bebeto, baggio, maldini, baresi, stoichkov, balakov, brolin, hagi, popescu, mathaus, voeller, klinsman, andreas moeller, redondo, cannigia, batistuta,maradona , bergkamp, koeman, overmars de boer, preud homme, luc nillis. amunike, amokachi, yekini, finidi and much ,more that I AM missing

Yes R9 was in the squad but got no playing time. ShAme. They brought on a sub called Viola towards the end of extra time who did a nice dribble and almost unlocked the Italian defence. It’s a shame they didn’t give R9 a chance.. maybe he’d have provided the magic in normal Time! Or maybe he’d have given the ball away and lost the game for Brazil.. can’t say!
This game between Brazil vs USA was on independence day, the players said that the atmosphere in the stadium was insane, and some say it was the most difficult game of the World Cup, if I'm not mistaken, Brazil played with one less than most of the matc
That is correct. Brazil´s Left Wing Leonardo got a red card by purposely hitting an USA player with his elbow during a ball dispute. Scorching hot day, american independence day and an outnumbered squad. A tough match for Brazil.
To me mate It was the best world that I Saw either in terms in Number of quality squads and the Number of world class players.
Romario, Hagi, Ilie Dumitrescu. Many Brazilian players. Some Bulgarian players. Brazilian players were very good as a team but also in any 1:1 situation.
R9 didn't even play in this world cup. But he's there!
Even if Baggio has scored his penalty, then if Brazil scored their next one they still win the World Cup. And you’re right - they always make out that Baggio ‘lost’ then the world cup, but he didn’t. It’s just not true as you say analysing the penalties.
I think that Baggio was specially blamed because first of all, he was Baggio, at the time the best european player, and second, because he'd killed Spain and Bulgary in a row and he was on fire... but in the final he didn't appear and then missed his penalty.
To be fair, that final game was the worst game in the whole world cup and one of the worst finals ever. It's not that Baggio didn't do much, every player from both teams did kind of nothing...
If I remember correctly the only shot on goal made by Brazil in the whole game was by Mauro Silva, who was a defensive midfielder I barely seen shooting in my life, and I've seen Mauro Silva play very much, because I'm from Spain... Mauro Silva played for spanish team Deportivo during that time.
The first World Cup decided on penalties.

I think you were getting mixed up with Muller when you were talking about Voller. Voller and Klinnsman were both great.. but not the great Muller (the bomber)

I don't like this compilation at all, the editing left out all the freaking plays before the finishing... for instance, Owairan's goal against Belgium, the best goal in that World Cup and one of the best goals in any World Cup... the guy dribbled half Belgium team before scoring and the guy who edited this cut out that? 🤦♂🤦♂
Bulgaria were so robbed in the semi finals
