Agreed!! She was/is still a fantastic artist and singer, and a revolution in making a female rocker known and accepted. Even as far back as the movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" her style was worn by MANY young women of the time and really stood out. Invincible made Pat Benetar even more famous, and made Helen Slater a dream for many teen boys lol. Long live the 80s!!!
Remembering seeing this senior year of high school. We loved pat B. And this is timely now, women know the assignment and are taking care of each other- most of them. We really are battling for our lives. We are a force !
That was Sunrise mall which was fairly new at that time. Oddly enough it was built right across the street from an older dying Padre Staples mall. Decades later, the Sunrise mall is now the dying mall like so many other malls across the country and Padre Staples mall continues to grow and is stronger then ever.
Malls were the center of the social world for teens and people of all ages. Pretty much everything you used to do and see at the mall is compressed into the internet. People don't go to the mall anymore, they shop on Amazon and nobody talks to one another or hangs out in person, they just Instagram/Snapchat and text one another. Half the malls in existence in the 1980s are now, sadly, decaying and empty shells of themselves or are just completely gone, demolished and replaced by some other housing or retail development. I grew up in suburban St. Louis in the 1980s and one of the malls I used to go to in junior high is completely gone, torn down and the other is slowly dying as tenants keep leaving in droves. Very sad.
The 80”s were the best for movies and music. I’m so glad I was raised in that decade. It’s funny that the teens these days love ❤️ wearing 80’s clothes and listen to are music from back then. If I could go back in time it would be the 80’s where life for me was simple 😉

Oh my feeling a little nostalgic right about now. How I sure missed the 80's. It sure was the best. Remember oh to well watching this movie and all the wonderful 80's movies like The Wraith, Teen Wolf, Teen Witch, Weird Science, Monster Squad, The Lost Boys ect.., so much more. Also listening to 80's freestyle and watch real MTV and VH1 where they actually played music not all this reality tv. Kids and teens in this time have no clue as to what living is really like. That was living life not now. Things sure aren't the same at all. 😢😢😢😢😢
I Truly Miss The Movies Then. Not These Disgusting Sex Movies That Now These Children Watch. I Remember If My Folks Said Not To See A Movie That They Did Want Us To See. We Did Not See It Until The Age Was 18 Not Like Now 10 Years Old.
I can remember as far back as the very end of the 1950's, the 60's, and the 70's. I was in my twenties and thirties in the 80's and I knew even then how special that time period was. Decades later, and many years older, I claim that time as my own, and I am "stuck" in the 80's forever.
The 80s were priceless the best time ever clothes movies music everything was so much fun and the way it was meant to be I think . I would literally give up my phone and all this other technology in a heartbeat if us as a world could go back . 80s kids never die !!!!!!!! Legends
John Llewellyn Rolling Stones played Buffalo, NY 6 times, bummer Led Zeppelin cancelled 1977 when Robert Plant son passed away. Even Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd came to Buffalo. Never forget Mick Jagger opened saying HELLO BUFFALO. It sucks we have to deal with 10 feet of snow every winter from Lake Erie. Buffalo was called SNOW CAPITAL OF USA after 1977 Blizzard. I would too it snowed everyday in December & January. 19 feet we got that year, we still had snow on the ground in June. Citys & Schools closed for 3 weeks. We only got Visitors because Niagara Falls is close. Crazy of all Citys near 5 Great Lakes why Buffalo gets most Snow. Oh Yea Buffalo Bills Losing 4 Superbowls & were also labeled a Big Drinking Town, I think that's because we have lots of IRISH Familys in Buffalo. 1 good thing were called MIAMI of the NORTH because we have lots of 90 degree days in summer. Always WHITE CHRISTMAS IN BUFFALO
Yup and I am not positive but abandoned theme park was called magic isle for all us Bluff Rats,,lol (Go Hornets ! ) Great Movie and Pat B killed the music as always, Hope to come home soon, God Bless TEXAS!!!
trey chic a lots changed. the old Mall is now the new Mall. The bluff has grown too. Buc days & Bay fest still goes on. supposed to get a new & taller harbor bridge.
Have you ever noticed that post millenium kids do not have any 'adventure moives'? Stand By Me. The Goonies. Explorers. Big. The Last Starfighter. Adventures in Babysitting. The Monster Squad. Whitewater Summer. Where are all the kids adventure movies now???? Are their imaginations being suppressed on purpose??
I was stationed in Beeville Tx.....65 miled from where this movie was filmed, when it was filmed in the Corpus Christi area I remember the casting call for extras.
I lived in Flour Bluff, Texas where most of this was filmed...... as a child of the 80s we past by the Sonic while they were filming :) and the Sunrise Mall scene....
John Staggs would you happen to know where the lake scene was filmed? (the scene where the scooter gets stolen). i suspect it is somewhere off laguna shores but i havent been able to pin down the location.
I lived thru out the full 1980’s absorbed every ounce of this time from the music to the movies and locations the full lifestyle it was my time my time to shine it’s faded away now everything just like I am
I feel the same way, always hoping to "die young and leave a good looking corpse " these tunes give me a spark to keep me going. "It's better to burn out ,,than fade away " no truer words
I was born in 1975, so this music was the soundtrack of my childhood. This song screams of summer! Endless days on our bikes, hanging in our clubhouse/hideout, bottle rocket wars, building go-carts, nighttime games of manhunt, whiffle ball, ...........and just playing outside till it was dark out! The summer back then had a different feel. No, .....really. It just felt different. Maybe it was the shrinking ozone layer we were all warned about? Not sure, but the summer sky was hazier, almost orange. What a time to be a kid! I drove through my home town on Long Island last summer on a Saturday afternoon. Not one kid outside. Not one. It made me very sad. Back then, there were "gangs" of us out. Not sure what happened, but it must be terrible to be a kid nowadays, ........or perhaps the kids now don't even realize it. Cheers to my childhood!
80s CHILD I was born in 72...and can relate to everything you just said. My neighbor's kid has to ride his bike back and forth on a closed in driveway...with a full gear of helmet/pads while she watches. So sad to be a kid nowadays...no movies, music, NO CULTURE.
I hear you, Carlos! My wife and I are not raising our three kids like that. Always outside. We see neighbors in our town who actually drive to the end of their driveways in their cars to pick up their kids from the bus, which stops in front of EVERY HOUSE, and drive them back up the driveway to the front door! Pathetic! Cheers Carlos!
So glad I grew up in the 80s with all this stuff, and eventually moving onto metal with Headbangers Ball in the late 80s and early 90s. You know, back when MTV (Music Television) actually played music.
I remember working at Cine 6 movie theater when this movie came out. In fact we had it in our theater. I knew a couple of people they used as extras. Real cool times.
You must watch it. It's a movie with nice story and good vibes. Helen is awesome. She is cutting her hair and turn into a strong girl. This movie passes lot of messages.
I still need to see it. Supergirl 4eva, though. Earlier, I'd asked if we have new '80s style songs' anymore? I said that I don't know about country, but I like some 'club/trance' (ex. Laura Aqui - After Dark or any Emma Hewitt). Elsewhere, someone mentioned Retrowave music.
@@StMichael7 Not EVERYONE did that. A few did, but likely not as many as you'd assume. I grew up going to drive ins. When I was a kid, there were no theaters, only drive-ins and when the drive-ins arrived, they were often too expensive for kids to bother with.

One of the best movies and songs when I was a kid growing up in the 80's.
Loved this movie.Helen Slater is beautiful, she can sing, and is one of the most underrated actresses I've ever known.
The word underrated I find to be underrated...........
@@TheJer-jg4nz
lol
I find the word underrated to be overused on UA-cam. It is ridiculous. It's under every post and in almost every other comment. People aren't thinking. These people, vids, whatever, are not underrated. That's why they're on UA-cam to begin with! And it's why people are looking them up!! Exactly because they are not underrated!
What a powerful voice Pat Benatar has! Highly underrated!!!!
WTF..lol. She's NEVER been underrated!! She was a superstar back then, and even today is still playing to sold out crowds
"The memories will come back so thick, they'll have to brush them away from thier faces." -James Earl Jones
Watched Pat Benatar about 3 years ago live. I think she was 61 at the time. She was awesome. Still sounds fantastic. If you get a chance to see her, do it. She is still a rock queen.
Exactly
Just saw her at 70,she sounds better than ever, unbelievable!!!
I'm a 37 year old Brooklyn/Italian Female who is currently on the 5 train. Just passed 125th st and for some reason this song and movie popped in my head. Lol can't make this shit up 😂
this was one of my favorite Pat Benatar songs. in the 80s she ROCKED!
May Loo Pat Benatar played on New Years Eve & I was so Drunk I kissed a total stranger instead of my GF
May Loo This song and, We Are Young are my all time favorites from her.
@@jamesogrady6612 what was his name?

somebody should have asked Michael Jackson where she was. lol
Another one of my 80's jams!! Love Helen Slater"s haircut & look!!! 💘 💘 Pat Benatar & her husband, guitarist, Neil Geraldo, Musical soulmates!💘
helen slater most underrated 80s babe
She was a smokeshow.
My brother met her at comicon a few years ago and she was gorgeous and super sweet!
This is one of my favorite songs, favorite movies and favorite era. The 80’s and 90’s was the shit!
Hell yeah.
one of the most underrated songs of all time - love it.
Underrated? WTF. Lol..
Amazing how these lyrics have taken on a new and dynamic meaning. The fight is timeless! Don't let them steal your rights or brainwash you.
Amen!

Speaking to this 4 year old comment - Just wait until you see what they do/try over the next few years.
Exactly
Remembering seeing this senior year of high school. We loved pat B. And this is timely now, women know the assignment and are taking care of each other- most of them. We really are battling for our lives. We are a force !
"And with the power of conviction there is no sacrifice / It's a do or die situation / We will be invincible!"
Iam 70 years old and grew up listening to this kinda music i love the 70s and 80s and even the 90 where great love them old days ❤️ ♥️ 💕 💗 💖 💙 ❤️
85-86 the peak of the 80’s
Something about malls in the 80s,they just seemed cooler back then!
Art V yeah. You could smoke in them back then. Lol
That was Sunrise mall which was fairly new at that time. Oddly enough it was built right across the street from an older dying Padre Staples mall. Decades later, the Sunrise mall is now the dying mall like so many other malls across the country and Padre Staples mall continues to grow and is stronger then ever.
..they were..and such a more brighter time in the world too
Art V +largely graveyards now.
Very sad.
I was 19 when this movie hit the theaters. Great memories 80s.
The 80”s were the best for movies and music. I’m so glad I was raised in that decade. It’s funny that the teens these days love ❤️ wearing 80’s clothes and listen to are music from back then. If I could go back in time it would be the 80’s where life for me was simple 😉
back when kids stood up for themselves..unlike today where they run home or to the therapist...pathetic...
Blessed are the chosen who were 80s kids!
takes me back to the 80's ❤
So fantastic to see my hometown on screen.. I remember when they filmed here in Corpus Christi.. it’s like looking back in time.. one of my all time fav movies.. and I was lucky to Pat in concert.. legendary 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Shame what happened to the Sunrise Mall. Used to hang out there all the time.

Helen Slater was hot as hell in Billie Jean yes one of my cult favorites
Back when I had my whole life ahead of me.
I hear that.
Dustin 3423 You still have the rest of your life ahead of you.
I can't argue that.
Oh Dustin, I feel the same way... peace \m/
No shit brother.... damn
"The Legend of Billie Jean" Will forever be a top 10 movie in my list. Thank you to all the actors and the director of that movie and thank you to Pat benatar absolute powerful song! 🙏🏾💪🏾
Zoey Jafferally 80s forever
I was only 11 when they ended but I knew even then there was something special about it. It sucks it all had to change.
Zoey Jafferally The Wraith is one of my all time favorite car movies.
This was my favorite movie growing up and I still love the song 💕💕💕💕💕
The 80s were priceless the best time ever clothes movies music everything was so much fun and the way it was meant to be I think . I would literally give up my phone and all this other technology in a heartbeat if us as a world could go back . 80s kids never die !!!!!!!! Legends
This is when music was all that, real musicians
This movie was shot in Corpus Christi Tx... Awesome Movie!
bullshit D Luyo I was there and a good friend was an extra at the beach seen,

Lived there for 7 years and never knew. Hey what do you have when you put 8 Bluff Rats in a room?
A full set of teeth.
Have you ever noticed that post millenium kids do not have any 'adventure moives'? Stand By Me. The Goonies. Explorers. Big. The Last Starfighter. Adventures in Babysitting. The Monster Squad. Whitewater Summer. Where are all the kids adventure movies now???? Are their imaginations being suppressed on purpose??

I lived in Flour Bluff, Texas where most of this was filmed...... as a child of the 80s we past by the Sonic while they were filming :) and the Sunrise Mall scene....
John Staggs would you happen to know where the lake scene was filmed? (the scene where the scooter gets stolen). i suspect it is somewhere off laguna shores but i havent been able to pin down the location.
???? Good location query??? I don't know either, have been trying to find
i miss living there but i thought the sonic was in portland my sis worked there. and yes the mall scene! so fun.
I'm glad Igrew up in the 80's but unfortunately I have to grow old in the it's all about me, and the how does it affect me era!
Pat benatar, thank you for the memories. Saw her a few years back and at 60 ish rocks with the best of them.
I remember renting this movie so many times back when there was video stores
This movie was a great memory of our dad. This was the fun days in the 80's.May our daddy rest in Heaven. ❤. We will forever miss you and LOVE you.
I must admit i miss the 80s
I lived thru out the full 1980’s absorbed every ounce of this time from the music to the movies and locations the full lifestyle it was my time my time to shine it’s faded away now everything just like I am
I feel the same way, always hoping to "die young and leave a good looking corpse " these tunes give me a spark to keep me going. "It's better to burn out ,,than fade away " no truer words
@@robertmcevey3773 yes sir (1986 highlander)
My daughter an I still cuddle up to this movie!!its one of our favorites!! She got good taste in movies &music like her mother!!💕💕😁🎶🎥📼
80s CHILD
I was born in 72...and can relate to everything you just said.
One my childhood favorite movies and song
The 80's still Rock
Filmed in my hometown of Corpus Christi Texas
I lived in cc too lmfao my street was everheart
I remember working at Cine 6 movie theater when this movie came out. In fact we had it in our theater. I knew a couple of people they used as extras. Real cool times.
That premier must’ve been amazing! I LOVED this movie.
I'm only 4 hours away from the filming location....😁😁😁
Sunset mall when it was a mall, now it's a ghost town
The 80's were the best of times...hands down!! Music, life, everything. After that it went downhill.
It's not just nostalgia. It was superior. We will not see a decade better.
I saw this movie at a drive-in in 1985. Good times.
+RecordWarped Definite good times! I remember this gem of movie! This movie showcases one of our best memories of the 80s!
me too
You are a lucky man
You must watch it.
Best time period ever.
Pat benatar she is one of my favorite singer and her band
Send me back to the 80s and let me be there forever, please...
Great song and one of the best movies from the 80s! Thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh I remember this movie back in the 80's, seen it at the drive in. Awesome memories from back then.
One of the best 80s songs...one of the best 80s movies
i still remember it like it was yesterday
when i was just a kid and they where filming
this movie in south Texas
Melón malone I’m assuming that maybe a lot of those kids in the crowd were real teens from that town? That set must’ve been poppin! Lol!
whoever made this video did a fantastic job! i thought it was an official music video, but no pat benatar. way to capture the movie in 4 1/2 minutes!!
I remember seeing this movie at the Drive-In theater with my boyfriend in 1985. We were in my dad's 1979 Ford Bronco.
same here me and my girlfriend but mine was a 72 ford maverick
Brenda S. People didn’t go to the Drive In to just watch a movie but to make out or have sex. Lots of jumping cars from the back seat or van
Wow, that’s dope!
Are there still any left in america??
@@StMichael7 Not EVERYONE did that. A few did, but likely not as many as you'd assume. I grew up going to drive ins. When I was a kid, there were no theaters, only drive-ins and when the drive-ins arrived, they were often too expensive for kids to bother with.
Loved this movie as a kid. I'll always associate this song with it.
