Ed King is a Guitar God. Just a fantastic guitarist.
Still gives me chills. I love the intro, "Stand by camera 1. Take 1", and they're off to the moon!
Just perfect 👌
Holy shit Ed's solo is so good
Ed King was my favorite Skynyrd Guitarist
Ed Kings solo was Pure Art...RIP Boss
Smokin solo by Ed King!
Melodic minor lick from outer space
god how I would have killed to see the original guitar lineup with Rossington/Collins/King hammering it out. RIP Ed King, you were the heart and soul of the guitar section, the secret weapon.
I have this on vcr. Ed wrote this with Ronnie. I love the story he tells. It’s on the tube somewhere. Steve Gaines was Ronnie’s boy, but Ed was a genius with his leads he just couldn’t take touring. His tone here was awesome. It just didn’t sound like his original Strat he used and for me that was Skynyrd.
ED KING, the GOAT Skynryd guitarist. RIP. You were a good man, Ed.
Allen Collins
Man was a savage on that guitar-
I love this solo to this song he just attacked it! Ed King was the man
not 1994 this is from tribute tour 1987
ktwebbdevil yup - Southern by the Grace of God - Tribute tour 1987
Gary Wilson pretty much the original line up - except Johnny Van Zant on vocals, Randall Hall on guitar - Ed King returning to the line up replacing Allen Collins who was in a car accident
Actually, Randall Hall was stepping in for Allen Collins. Allen asked him personally to do it. Ed was essentially taking Steve Gaines' spot.
WTF are you talking about Jokers when you say "Gaines spot"? Gaines had been dead for 10 years in 1987 and spent less than a year on the road with the band before he was killed. If anything, it was Ed King's rightful spot for all his key contributions before 1976. Ed also wrote MCA. He was the best of the guitar lineup.
Which show?
happy bday ed!!!Rip
Wasn't this 1987?
1988 San Francisco
1987 not '94
@2:04 Amazing Solo.
Artimus left the band in 1991
but that was definitely Artimus playing drums....so what's the year here?
@@Arturo-sm1tb 1987
Ed King would be lead guitarist in a super band with Leslie West.
ed king was amazing-
it must have been so great to see all the original lineup excepting of course Ronnie and Bob Burns. Allen Collins was there but could not play being confined to a wheelchair, even though he could at least make an appearance. He personally chose Randall Hall to take his place though. sad that all are now gone except for Johnnie and Artimus. RIP Gary Rossington.
I need the glasses of Ed
Anybody know which 1987 show this is?
This is from 7-2-1988. At shoreline amphitheater, San Francisco, CA. They toured in 1988 for the second leg of the tour.
Gary was Ronnie's favorite. Watch all the videos
Artimus Pile in drums?
Yep
This was in 1987, not 1994!
When I see Ed King with Lynyrd Skynyrd I think two entirely different thoughts. (1) How did Ed end up in a band like Lynyrd Skynyrd? (2) Lynyrd Skynyrd wouldn't have been the same without him.
he was no better than collins and rossington, can't believe you wrote that
@@leevonmanstein7459 I didn't say he was better. He came from a phsychadelic band during the late 60's. He wasn't a southern boy like the other members. That was my point. But Ed King was a phenomenal guitar player.
@@davidsolomon7966 Sorry Dave, I misunderstood your comment. Yeah, Ed was absolutely fantastic on guitar.
The strangest part of Strawberry Alarm Clock is that they indirectly link Lynyrd Skynyrd to Oingo Boingo of all bands. Their flute player ended up playing in Oingo Boingo years later but was in the band at the same time as Ed. He truly was California born and bred but is still Southern rock's greatest guitar hero.
Ack,they're too far away from each other....puts Ed behind the beat. But yeah he rules anyway
I love these guys, but i really cant take their hairstyles seriously.
I love there hairstyle it was the good old days
