Ive been testing my RX 5700 XT for 20 days now and I have to say I'm tired. Too many fucking bugs, too many crashes, too many errors, amd takes ages to fix issues, and every time I actually manage to fix somrthing, another problem pops up. I gave amd a try, but its not worth it. Rx 5700 xt is 10% faster? Yeah, thats for sure, but its also 20% more unstable, and I'm willing to sacrify 10% performance and have a stable card with no driver issues or game crashes at all. I still have 10 days to return the card, I really dont want to do it but I think I have no other choice but to change to a rtx 2060 super.
Performance on this card is awesome but the fans are problematic. Above 70% fanspeed they make a rattling noise, below 39% they start oscillating constantly changing rpm or switching on and off in short intervals which is very annoying. I wish fancurves could be set on a firmware or driver level. My solution was to create a custom fan curve with MSI afterburner that only ranges from 39 to 70%. Forget about Gigabyte AORUS it's slow and it sucks, MSI afterburner loads instantly at boot before the fans become even audible and is super light on system resources. Luckely 70% seems to be enough to keep the card running at full speed or some occasional throttle to 1850Mhz which is still a 200Mhz overclock from the stock boost speed. The 39% base fan speed is completely inaudible. Usually this card runs at 1950Mhz with no problems. Overall very pleased with it though I'm actually considering putting the windoforce coolers on from my old 660Ti which had no such issues. I don't care one bit about the looks as I don't have a glass panel in my case and probably never will. I prefer a clean stealthy with no fancy lighting.
@@blcknd210 To give a proper reply I'll have to take my case sidepanel off because I don't have a lot of arflow through the case (low noise/rpm fans in use) but what I can tell from the top of my head with closed case it idles at the case temperarure. On high load (90 to 100%) the card is set to throttle at 83°c which only drops it to 1850Mhz at worst. This is with 70% fanspeed, it never throttles at 100% fanspeed but it's just too loud for me. With good airflow it will clock over 2000Mhz no problem. For comparison playing Cities Skylines (very large build) the gpu sits around 40% load with the temp pinned at 47°c. If I get to it I'll run some test with no sidepanel, should be a lot better.
Rx5700xt is a way better option in my country, it costs about 20 euros more than a 2060 super and about 120 euros less than a 2070. Just gotta wait for those coolers tho...
@Weeblackie Had nothing but issues with the 5700xt Sapphire Nitro +. Constantly black screens, issues with fans cutting out - Swapped out for a 2060 Super
What I usually do, is to get the fastest factory overclocked version that I can, that doesn't require additional power connectors over what the reference spec calls for, that way, I can get away with a lower wattage PSU.
I was in desperate need of an upgrade from a GTX 980, so I got one of these, though it was the MSI version. I'm extremely happy with it, 2.05Ghz and temps stay in the mid 60's at 55% fan speed.
