Helmut nailed it. To me this still is the best version ever performed. At the end we see our King really grateful. I love our King, he's a decent human being who does an excellent job, really devoted. He had a difficult youth, but he managed to turn it into a wonderful family.
But the king was not there, only the queen, that is the whole thing about the Koningsfeest, but Lotti did an excellent job as does the absent king Filip/Philippe

Possibly the best version I've ever heard. This is an underrated anthem, even among the Belgians. This is possibly because the idea of Belgium is somewhat artificial given the deep cultural fault line which runs through it. Pity- I love Belgium and the Belgians, they have much to be proud of.

Inderdaad een mooi volkslied, dat ik nauwelijks kende ook al woon ik vlakbij België (in Maastricht), en kom ik vaak in België. Helmut Lotti zingt het met veel overtuiging. Ik heb altijd gemengde gevoelens als een volkslied gespeeld wordt, aangezien het nationalistische gevoelens opwekt, die gemakkelijk kunnen ontaarden in een superioriteitsgevoel (wij zijn beter als de andere landen). Maar een zekere trots op je land mag wel. In ieder geval mag België trots zijn op hun Helmut Lotti, een van de meest veelzijdige zangers die ik ken. Hij zingt zowel klassiek als rock ‘n’ roll (vooral zijn grote voorbeeld Elvis Presley) als swing, wat erg uitzonderlijk is. This is the real anthem in my eyes ! Yes, it's way longer than the almost totallity of the other anthems but all the 3 languages are taken in consideration, it's easy to listen the pride shared by Helmut Lotti and the power of the song. This performance is just wonderful. It's the only Belgian Anthem that i allow myself to play it loud. C'est la véritable hymne nationale tel qu'il doit être chanté ! Cela dure une éternité comparé à la très grande majorité des hymnes mais les 3 langues sont respectées, le rythme reste soutenu et est positif. La performance est magistrale! C'est la seule hymne que je trouve digne à l'écouter au maximum du volume dans mes oreilles.

Inderdaad een mooi volkslied, dat ik nauwelijks kende ook al woon ik vlakbij België (in Maastricht), en kom ik vaak in België. Helmut Lotti zingt het met veel overtuiging. Ik heb altijd gemengde gevoelens als een volkslied gespeeld wordt, aangezien het nationalistische gevoelens opwekt, die gemakkelijk kunnen ontaarden in een superioriteitsgevoel (wij zijn beter als de andere landen). Maar een zekere trots op je land mag wel. In ieder geval mag België trots zijn op hun Helmut Lotti, een van de meest veelzijdige zangers die ik ken. Hij zingt zowel klassiek als rock ‘n’ roll (vooral zijn grote voorbeeld Elvis Presley) als swing, wat erg uitzonderlijk is. This is the real anthem in my eyes ! Yes, it's way longer than the almost totallity of the other anthems but all the 3 languages are taken in consideration, it's easy to listen the pride shared by Helmut Lotti and the power of the song. This performance is just wonderful. It's the only Belgian Anthem that i allow myself to play it loud.
C'est la véritable hymne nationale tel qu'il doit être chanté ! Cela dure une éternité comparé à la très grande majorité des hymnes mais les 3 langues sont respectées, le rythme reste soutenu et est positif. La performance est magistrale! C'est la seule hymne que je trouve digne à l'écouter au maximum du volume dans mes oreilles.
