Matt, I really appreciate the usefulness of your content. Wondering if in the future you can elaborate on how you use your UA Console AUXs and Virtual Channels in creative ways.
Thank you very much! Check out my Apollo Quick Tips playlist for several uses of Auxes (including as a drum bus) and one use of Virtuals (master fader). Hit me up with any questions and let me know what you want to see in more detail!
hello thank you for the video! what would you advise me, low latency is interesting and I would like to use it but I have a previous autotune plug-in that I want to use in protools directly as an insert, if I put the monitoring on low latency it is deactivated would you have a solution?
The insert in PT would be deactivated. My recommendation is to see if there's a cross grade option so you can get the UAD version. It is also possible to mute the channel in UAD Console and leave Low Latency Monitoring off.
Hey, i see in the video you line Mon L/R input with Mon L/R output and you recorded with Mon L/R. L when i do that and have a 2 track that im recording to it records the 2track on the audio track im trying to use to record vocals on. Did i do something wrong?
I also see that your output says Mon L/R in console and pro tools I/O but when you create new tracks in pro tools it changed to A 1-2. How was that possible?
Mon L/R should only be used to record a track of whatever you're actually hearing (full mix during tracking, sound from a video game or website, etc.). If your Pro Tools setup has A 1-2 as defaults like mine you'll go to Buses in the I/O setup and map Mon L/R to A 1-2. Normally, A 1-2 is from when you use PTHD hardware, which I also use on my other setup.
@@MattHepworth what about mic line do i not suppose to use that one. Im having trouble getting what i hear from console to print correctly to pro tools. Its clear in console but when it make it ro pro tools it sounds like i recorded with a usb microphone. Been driving me crazy for about a year now. I dont record vocals nomore because it sound totally different. Auto tune dont even tune my vocals the effect with retune speed at zero but you can barely hear it. Im thinking the signal getting sent through a bus are something before hitting pro tools and being degraded. 🤦🏾♂️
Great information. Thanks! One suggestion...for the beginners in the group you move way too fast. Perhaps highlighting your cursor to make it easier to follow. You often make the selection before you finish the sentence explaining what you're doing. 🤓👍
Any idea on setting up an Apollo Solo with Ocenaudio? I just upgraded to the Solo and I only use a single voice track, so Ocenaudio is ideal, but I am struggling to connect the two...
Each DAW is a bit different here, but there's probably a lot that will be the same. The persistent sends may be completely different in other DAWs, though.
Was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a new Apollo Twin. I can get protools to register my mic and I have the Apollo set as my Play Back Engine. However, I can record but cannot hear any sound that I recorded unless I switch my playback engine back to Protool Aggregate. It's like my output to play the sound back into the interface and out my speakers doesn't work. I made sure to reset my I/Os and everything. Honestly don't know what to do. I am pretty lost because I switched from a Scarlett and Logic Pro to Protools and an Apollo Twin and wow it truly is something different (and better). Let me know if anyone has suggestions.
Are you talking about trying to force Apollo to record 32-bit? Pro Tools uses 32-bit float processing, but that's different. What's your buffer set to? Start with 512 and see if it helps. I'd also need to know what kind of distortion you're hearing.
in 7 minutes, you solved an issue I been having for years and couldn't find the answer anywhere else... Thank you VERY MUCH..
Awesome! Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
Simple & straight to the point
Thank you! That's my goal!
This literally saved me hours!!!!! "Low latency monitoring" was it!!!!
Awesome. Glad to help!
Thank you. Your video is the only video that solved my issue! Appreciate this. You definitely earned the LIKE from me.
Awesome! Thank you!

Hi there, Thank you for making time to do this. Have you done similar please for Either or both Logic Pro X and Cubase? Thank you in advance Aindre
Hello! I haven't, but I probably should! Thank you!
You’re a pro tools ninja.
Thank you for the compliment!
Such a very helpful video for newbies like me Matt. Thanks so much for sharing. Wow, Just what I needed! :)

FIRE youtube channel!!!! had to subscribe!! A quick one: do you have a video on setting up an apollo x with an external converters via ADAT?
Thank you! I do not, but I'll put it on the list!

ANy idea why my Line 1 and 2 are not showing on the outputs for the Console settings i/o matrix
Most likely alt Mon is active
This guy knows what he’s talking about🫡 thanks bro
Thank you! Glad it's helpful!
Need a one on one session
Hi Calvin, you need some one on one help with Apollo and PT?
Please send me a message on the forum - uadforums.com
thx bro!!!! very helpful!!
Searching… have you made a routing hardware inserts through Console from pro tools? Having the darndest time…
I've not done a video on that. Thanks for the comment and interest!

Thanks for the comment! Maybe I'll check it out and do a really quick vid on it.
@@MattHepworth I would be forever grateful! I can't seem to work it out and it is so frustrating!
My playback engine in protools is not showing my interface to select?
In that case it sounds like there's an issue with the Apollo installation or driver.
the plugin button was grayed out

Make sure you've done Allow in your system privacy settings for Mic for Console. That's probably it.
@@MattHepworth That worked! Thank you Matt. Much appreciated

why i can use 32 bit with 96hz it will sound distorted im using an apollo twin

Console recall?
I don't normally use it. I save Console sessions during a project as needed, though.
Simplicity is Why I want to go with Carbon.
Totally valid!
ì dont have io matrix ?
Which exact Apollo do you have?
@@MattHepworth i dont either and i have the apollo twin
Nvm, rookie mistake, didnt change playback engine first
@@TreeTea11 Ah, it happens!
Great!
Need
I don't have i/o matrix and I own a Twin
I believe Twin USB does not have it. You can skip that part if you have a Twin USB or Apollo Firewire.
Man didn’t work, sound still coming thru the Mac Studio only
this did not help at all. i’m still not able to record. the only time sound comes through is when it’s on talk
If you're on Mac and it's a new Apollo or install, make sure you "allow" microphone access in System Preferences.
Been a one on one session. Is that possible ?
