Space Exploration: The Age of Hubble: • Video
Are we alone in the universe? We may be very close to finding out. Planet Hunters follows the astronomers at the forefront of the search for habitable planets outside our solar system. The Kepler Space Telescope has discovered hundreds that may be Earth's twin. Scientists now believe there may be billions of habitable planets in the universe, and that extra-terrestrial life is almost certain to exist. Can we detect it?

Are we alone in the universe? That question has been plaguing curious minds for centuries. We may be very close to finding out. Planet Hunters follows the astronomers at the forefront of the search for habitable planets outside our solar system.
The Kepler Space Telescope has discovered hundreds of planets that may be equivalent to our Earth. A twin planet? Scientists now believe there may be billions of habitable planets in the universe, and that extra-terrestrial life is almost certain to exist. Will we be able to prove it? Find it?

Are we alone in the universe? No we are not alone. There is life out there. We are not special.
@@timjones9206 There is a lot of life in the universe if u ask me
the question has been answered but, we seem to have a funny way to acknowledge it truth will not be denied
We already have a habitable planet.
It's like having the best car ever, then ignoring it because there are billions of other usable cars in the world.
What happens when that car gets damaged? When you run out of things to fix that car with?
@@MattBo1993 you’re missing the point. With habitable planets come possibilities of life forms. Humans trying to find another habitable planet with proof of life is not about ignoring our planet. It’s about exploring the universe like never before, and providing life changing proof that we are in fact not alone. With such advanced technology, it’d be criminal to NOT use it for these purposes. Wow.
"Could it be intelligent life?" The way Homo sapiens has been wrecking this planet, if there is intellgient life out there it will intelligently hope not to be discovered
Equally possible it will be so appalled by our behaviour that it will just call the Galactic Pest Control Agency.

Let's make what we have better!
There may be life...intelligent life forms on others planets, but they could be in very different dimensions that we may not be able to perceive

Someday, yes. But not in our lifetimes.
Our universe is so big. We've a long way to go...
It’s one thing finding a planet.
It’s another thing finding one with a moon exactly in the right place for any planet to be habitable.
An interesting point , without the moon life on earth would cease to exist , but would that apply to all planets and stars , maybe other factors involved.Going of our own solar system perhaps many exoplanets have moons
@@davehoward22 I can see your point but the basics for life are pretty common , things may not and probably could not be exactly like on earth but I have a gut feeling that life is probably quite common in one form or another ,I don't know about more advanced thought , perhaps nuclear war will put the block on that.
You forgot to mention that this is only OUR understanding of how life forms can exist. Almost everything we know about space and situations needed for life to exist are simply just theories that apply to earth and that’s it. We try to understand the universe, but it doesn’t give a F about our theories’ that we’ve stamped as fact over time.

poor Geoff naughty man.
There might be life out there but the extreme distances needed to cover to have meaningful interaction with them is dizzying. They could be 1 million light years away... Just imagine how long a spaceship could take to cover that distance 🤣😂. The physics of worm holes are unfortunately still beyond us by a long way as well 🥺.
Thanks for an astronomy documentary for change. Props 👍
Some where out there an alien is drifting off to sleep as he listens to a doc on habitable planets in the universe...
And that is indeed possible because we are doing it.
Could very well be possible.
Planets do swing to the side of their stars, but we still can't see them, because all we can see is light that comes to us.
Before Kepler we had atleast 10years under our planet-finding belts. From where we're they learning about exoplanets during those days? James Webb is watching and waiting for our next move.....and we are anticipating an absolute deluge in our very near future. So exciting! There coming fast and furious now!🤪
I wanna see this 👽 Telescope
Theres no impossible for human minds..
Thousand years ago, we doesnt have any gadgets. at that time even television or mobile phone are impossible. we are already experiencing the future of humanity.
Theres so many impossible things that is already been created.. and i know in the future, human can still go to that inter stellar stars that they are talking about..

Is it me and my limited knowledge, but is it strange that all the planets and suns being observed are somehow orbiting along one plane...... directly in-line with the Telescope....?
I say we should play marbles with the asteroid belt. An object in motion, tends to stay in motion. Accelerate an asteroid into Europa, and knock Europa into the Goldilocks Zone. The travel you propose is onerous.

In my dreams, I travel to some other planet, not earth at all, all the time..its so odd being there; its darker than earth, no sun ,but not completely dark; the sky is very close to the ground ,and all the other planets are colorful and also close to the ground. Cant quite touch it, but it's just right above you- amazing feeling...colors are from purple to pink to charcoal black, to yellow and green; a mixture of these vibrant colors, just above your head...and people are- regular humans, but they dont speak...everyone is friendly, but living under some sort of structure, as if hypnotized ..very odd!

@@politicallycorrectredskin796 Considering some of the channels you're subscribed to, you're probably one of those nutjob flat Earther conspiracy theorists.
They know that there was life out there as in the 90s they picked up some sort of signal from the Andrometer galaxy that had been sent out some 70.000 years earlier and it took 20yrs or so to decode the massage and the planet that it came from had went to war which destroyed them so there is definitely plenty of life out there it's just finding these planets but it will come one day

I’ve heard of that theory but billions of what we currently know as the Universe sounds so unfathomable. Again so is the universe itself lol.
Hey, its Talky Toaster. hah, still grillin.
In what year was this documentary made? The year at the end of the video is obscured.
30 years ago, in 1990, we had no evidence of exoplanets. They were just a hypothesis.
No, but most people knew there would be, just because of the way matter and scale works. From dust to black holes, it's all the same stuff. And there are obviously more small things than big things. And we know there are endlessly many big things, so it stands to reason there will be even more small things. It's just basic logic.

When they are talking about the the planet orbiting around the Sun makes the Sun wobble, i get a bit confused because they talk about it as though its only one planet orbiting the Sun but in this & many other solar systems there are many planets orbiting the Sun at the same time so they must all have an effect on their Suns movement in their galaxys so why arnt all the Suns we observe through telescopes moving very eratically?

The main issue with looking for radiowaves as a sign of a technologically advanced alien civilization is that humanity itself only used radiowaves for around a century before adopting fibreoptics and laser-based communication. So radiowaves is a transient form of communication. Who knows what will replace fibreoptics.
