Be careful sending her with the check cord attached. If she gets caught up in a snag while in the water, she could drown before you could get to her.

One thing i can't handle is a wining dog, interesting seeing the different limits and what you guys shoot over there versus what we shoot over here
Very few people can train a dog. You either send the dog to a trainer or have a pet. But there is nothing worse than hunting with someone that brings there mutt with them and stands in the middle of the decoys trying to get a dog to pick up a duck when you can walk out and get yourself. There are places a dog is a must otherwise a dog is like someon elses 2 year old child making others in the vicinity miserable.

My dog always cheated the river, swim to get ducks straight to bank and run back, didn't bother me. Ice is always a challenge. be carefull sending her immediately after the shot, let her sweat it out a minute when possible!
You should trim that collar tag and remove the lead when you send her. Less for her to get tripped up on
Im betting he had the leash under his boot and thought the dog couldnt pull the leash out or had the dog tied up with it somehow with no buano

Hey Josh love the videos. Please do be careful when the ice in thin like that. I had a pretty scary situation when my dog ran across the ice and she found a thin spot and fell in the water. She couldn’t get back up on the ice. I had to bust ice about 35-40yards to get to her. By the time I was about half way to her she started to give up on trying to get up on the ice because she was so tired. Luckily I got to her in time. I Definitely thought she was going to drown. I won’t take a dog on ice anymore.
Fantastic and that dog just loves it whatever the conditions.

Young dog doing a great job, but also a very cold dog. Think about getting her some of the dog booties, The vest is one thing. But their feet get cold too.

Hard to tell with GoPro video but one of the things Josh does in many of his videos is he doesn't shoot most of the time until he has them in the decoys. You don't see him chasing a lot of cripples as a result - he does a great job.

Little brown dog has come a long way. The reason she tries to get up on the ice before the release cuz that is what she is use to. Dry ground releases
A diving duck will educate her you did the right thing letting her figure it out she did great tough conditions on a young dog

Not unless the dog is sent to a professional trainer. Otherwise its basically a pet in the field .
This is the one situation where a dog with dew claws shines, they can hook the claw and pull themselves up on the ice

It has worked well for us. We haven't finished the program yet, but she is doing great in the field. Honestly, all you need is 30 minutes a day for the most part. The program is outlined with 4 days of training each week. When you do it yourself, you build the relationship with your dog and grow as a handler.

Poor guy. Everytome he hunts with you it seems like your the one getting all the birds haha. I remember the one day he couldn't stop missing. So funny..well not at the time probably. But it is now.
Has Kora had her dew claws removed? If so it is probably a factor in her struggling to get back up on the ice b/c that is a big purpose of those claws is gripping ice to pull their body up onto it. In the future I would have my breeder leave them on for waterfowl dogs.

What’s that ear piece you are using?
Look at the quick release system from gun dog outdoors, it’s well worth it.
Don't worry about her cheating. Under those conditions "textbook" goes out the window. She will figure out the best/easiest way to get the ducks back to you like a good "meat dog" will. Don't fret it. Good job Cora

I was wondering how to improve my shot and miss less ducks?
Go shoot trap and Sporting Clays and practice. Pattern your gun to see where your shot pattern goes. Get your gun fitted to you so when you pull up the gun it is always with your head down and looking exactly down the rib.
Most new hunters havent had enough expierence judjing distance espically with ducks and geese and birds ie quail is what hunters call birds . Geese are also more diffucult to judge there speed.they look slow but are really fling as fast as a duck.

We have had several hundred Martins migrating thru . The Black birds havent arrived . The sparrows have most ly unchanged . Its been pretty mild so far.
Dont worry about the crying. I have a pointer that does the same thing. Does not scare the ducks away, just an uncontrollable drive they have! P.S please get rid of that check cord. You dont want her getting caught up and drowning.

Your dog needs a hella more training on everything even to cut the whining out, she needs and leased a 1 year and a half to two years at the trainer.
