By a huge margin, the largest number of death occurred to Nepalis, those loyal, wise, and dedicated guides who often give their lives to rescue us. I am so glad that they saved him.
Guy pulled out of 50 ft crevasse gloveless and shoeless after 3 hours- "dont worry, im fine." Me when the schoolbus was 5 minutes late "Are you TRYING to kill me???"
Simply insane. I have mad respect for these fearless adventurers, but can't imagine wanting to do this. Thank goodness they are willing to film for me to enjoy from my warm, cozy couch. Wow!

I have climbed many mountains in my country Norway. It is a fantastic experience. But there is also a great sense,of humbleness and respect. To always not leave traces of my visit. To keep it as clean and beautiful as it was before my visit. I vould never climb Mount Everest, but I would like visit it and treat it as a wholy and magnificent catedral.
Rather climb for sure then sitting on a damn couch or being bored laying by some pool doing nothing but the price tag that comes with doing so is to much. Understandable why it’s expensive just couldn’t justify it. So I’ll be sticking with skydiving lol

Man congrats to all those people for achieving something like that. My biggest dream is to climb everest but ofc I am scared of the khumbu icefall, death zone and all of that, and honestly Im kinda worried about like not understanding the sherpas and stuff if thats even a problem
Khumbu icefall is mostly dangerous only for the Icefall Doctors. For everyone else, the decent from summit to camp 4 is by far the most dangerous part. (Going by the numbers)

Omg! That ladder is hardly standing on lots of snow. I’m a bit scared of heights, don’t like too cold and harsh wind. Seriously how cold does it get on death zone? Is it a bit easier for a 5’3 shirty or best for taller kinds? Been watching a few documentaries although the beauty is quite there I wouldn’t dare (although just admit the thought of the adventure dies cross my crazy mind). I’m only a marathoner. That’s plenty of disasters right there but mostly mild ones an it band rip, shins splints can take you out of the game, other things but this is too much of a dare. Yikes!
Not-so-fun fact: This year (2023) was the 2nd worst year in Mt Everest history. 17 climbers died. Even the massive avalanche in 2014 could not trump stupidity, 16 Sherpa died in that disaster trying to feed their family for the year on around $3000 risking their lives. This year was only trumped by 2015 in an avalanche that wiped out base camp. This year was purely due to climbers, not natural disasters!

I think it's rare to see people trying to summit Everest as their 1st peak. Often they are experienced people with many 7-8k summits.
I've seen videos of folks trying to climb this mountain before trying anything else. I understand challenges but start small.
