ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From Michael Schur, executive producer of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Parks and Recreation," comes a smart, unique new comedy that follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, "House of Lies," "Veronica Mars"), an ordinary woman who, through an extraordinary string of events, enters the afterlife where she comes to realize that she hasn't been a very good person. With the help of her wise afterlife mentor (Ted Danson, "Bored to Death," "Cheers"), she's determined to shed her old way of living and discover the awesome (or at least the pretty good) person within.

Janet gets smarter and smarter and remembers every time she is rebooted, she is the common denominator, she must be the reason it won’t work out.
R Ade It doesn't work out because Elenor honestly tries to be a better person each time, which this bad place wasn't designed for. They never expected Elenor to ever put others before herself, only do her best not to be noticed. Her taking every break she got would have been able to keep the ploy going, but her honest efforts to be good derails them every time.
R Ade I think the reason that it doesn’t work is because the whole purpose is to torture the subjects, making it blatantly obvious that it can’t be the “good place”. It would probably be more effective if they put them in a simulation of their life where they never die, having everyone meet each other and make the rest of eachothers lives miserable
The reason it is doesn't work is because someone is going to notice if they're being tortured.
Also she doesn’t know what happened before she gets rebooted
R Ade janet is bae. Janet is life. Janet is after life.
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD

“Aren’t trains neat? Choo! Choo!”
gaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy
I love Janet lol
Janet is everything
I love this show. How in the world are they going to escape the bad place. Once you are dead, your dead.
Gene Nolen what if they're in a coma? No wait has in was confirmed dead by the police....and how did tahani die already!?
goldgem2 tahani was at her sisters party at the rock and roll hall of fame and because she was jealous of her sister she tried to pull her sisters statue down and it ended up landing on her, as the episodes went on showing the flashbacks I felt sorry for tahani
Yeah that comment was made when that episode hadn't aired yet.
Now they gonna team up with Michael. This is gonna be fun
There's a good chance he's just saying that to "torture" them some way
I think Vicky will be the main antagonist now, she'll make it worse for them than Michael
@@katitax508 Guess what! you're correct
@@kirtu9035 oh, I haven’t seen the last season so I had no idea!
“We’re here. Aren’t trains neat? Choo choo!” 😂😂😂
This is so weird to watch after watching the fantastic finale
"I only go to one place, the Bad Place. Its a place of blood and death and monsters!!!" Oh wait... wrong show.
I really want a miniseries about "The Good Place" version 218
Because guess what chidi ur basic
Thinking that Eleanor and Co are effectively torturing Mindy without intending to by going through the same process over and over as they get repeatedly rebooted.
Great shoiw!!
But I like clam chowder :(
Bye-bye, Mama!
Let's go!
Is season 2 ever coming to Netflix?
I like clam chowder.
Can anyone tell me what is that song at the end of each of these webisodes?

@Lady Seashell Bikini why is it the worst of alternative milk?
@@strawberriec also, almonds require bees, but are in such high demand that they can't stop covering the crops with pesticide as they pollinate, causing massive die offs every year. They have to import out of state hives, who then get sick and die. also, it spreads bee diseases to other hives as many hives are brought in close contact.
Though, according to the way that points are counted, it kind of makes sense that almond milk took him into the bad place 😅
@@sandymladosich7364 I second that D':
You know? At the end of the day that did in part send him to the bad place, according to how point are earned, basically every decision will have a negative effect somehow and you'll lose points. So, Chidi were right about that haha
You know what I find absolutely funny? The whole reason Michael's plan isn't working is that it is working! But he's not realizing that!
I mean, think about it: He introduces them all to the "Good Place", then starts psychologically and emotionally torture them, making them miserable! Make 4 people miserable for a long period of time, they'll eventually realizes they are not in the Good Place, you know?
And you'd think after over 600 attempts Michael would have realized that, no? Basically the solution is NOT to reset the whole thing once they figure out they are being tortured, it's figuring out a way to pursue the scenario despite them knowing they aren't in the Good Place. Because, again, you can't torture people and not have them realized they are unhappy, especcially when they are supposed to be in a paradise!
You're right. It's basically a dead end, especially if Jason can figure it out.
ChevaliersEmeraude While you're right that this is a dead end, continuing to torture them doesn't work once they're aware because now they have no reason to be tortured. Elenor knows she's not surrounded by people who are better than her, Jason doesn't have to worry about getting caught, and Chidi doesn't have to make a decision about whether helping Elenor deceive people and become a good person is bad or not. And now that Tahani knows Jason isn't supposed to be her real soul mate, she can try to have a real relationship with someone else.
TheDoctor2nd To wish I answer by referring to you the theater piece "Huis Clos" (or "No Exit" in English) by Jean-Paul Sartre, which is basically the same setting as this show, aka a small group of people sent in Hell to torture each other. One key difference is that, in Huis Clos, they are aware of being in Hell. Yet they still torture each other! So it could work, you'd just have to tweek the scenario a little!
Actually the plan relies on the fictional 'perfect synergy' of the neighborhood. Eleanor and Jason aren't supposed to be there and therefore destroy the perfectly balanced afterlife causing suffering. In that way the reason for the suffering isn't the locale but rather they themselves.
I think it doesn't matter they get rebooted all the time because it is still torture only the torture exists is in loops. That does not mean it is less torture just that the torture starts again once they figure out that they are in the bad place
When will micheal take a cue and realize he's in his bad place?
Avbitten wasn't that one of the plans that failed? 😂
it was, but maybe there were failsafes put in place so he wouldn't notice. I assume his boss is smarter than he is.
I totally thought this exact thing; that after the second or third attempt, Vicki ratted out Michael, Shaun has basically been letting Vicki run things and included Michael as a torture subject
The whole line about "we're experiencing karma that we can never learn from" was another indication that they're still being intentionally tortured; they have to find out that all the stress they encounter is intentional torture, and that they're going to immediately revert back to being the same people they used to be once Michael wipes their minds
Just the Coolest Dude Yo i saw you commenting on crazy ex girlfriend stuff and i just wanted to say you have the best freaking taste in tv
Avbitten matpat did a theory on this!
Oh sorry! The door was open...Did you say I was in the bad place?
MCFPapa haha that was the best one
Anne Lorraine Ramos I personally love the one where Jason figures it out. Love Michaels reaction
chidi is life. chidi is love
Andy Howard yes ,yes he is😍
He is my favourite too :P I relate far too much to his indecision.
You forgot *chidi is laugh*
I knew Chidi wasn't a soup!!
The fact you put the sentences in the wrong order makes me think we're in hell
So I guess this means The Medium Place is real, and wasn't part of Michael's plan
or is it ?
I think the Medium Place is also part of the Bad Place. It doesn't really seem balanced and dips more into the bad side of mediocrity. I think Mindy just isn't tortured as much as the others because of her one really good deed.
Wendigo Dragon Well, I think the point of the Medium Place is to be able to say, just like every day life, it could always be worse, whereas the bad place it never gets better, and it's always already worse.
The train takes people to other parts of the bad place, the medium place is its own thing, but I think it is also part
Of the bad place
In episode 3 of S2. Michael explains everything. How many reboots, mindy, janet, and How Tahani died
Haha. You shouldn't put spoilers for your own show in the titles of yours videos on UA-cam.
Samuel Crouch well the audience knew they were in the bad place already since this is from season 2. Only the characters didn’t know at this point because of the rebooting
+Katelyn O'Hare Yeah but if you see this in your suggested it spoils it if you're early on in the show or haven't started it.
This is really unfortunate and I don't think I've experienced it with another show. idk I'm losing interest in continuing it
Interesting thing I noticed, they could have looped endlessly, but in this final loop, they break it by finding out theyre in the bad place and Michael isnt immediately aware they know. They gain a modicum of time between their discovery and the reboot which gives Michael the space to switch sides.
Assumedly this has happened before tho, because they had already shown up at Mindy's place several times. So interesting theory but they've definitely found out without Michael being present before.
"I usually panic, but I am happy to freak!" - I need that on a t-shirt. C'mon, NBC merchandising department.
Chidi shouldn't be in the bad place. They have already shown that Tahani is in the bad place because, despite doing good, her motivation was corrupt. So shouldn't it be the same the other way around? Despite making everyone miserable, Chidi only pondered over decisions because he wanted to do the morally right thing
I completely agree, even when they explained why he was in the bad place it just didn't seem like a good reason to me
Unfortunately, the reverse doesn't work. Doing bad things for good reasons isn't the opposite of doing good things for bad reasons. You still did bad things. They hurt people. That doesn't go away just because you thought you were helping. I don't think Chidi was a bad person, but he honestly hurt people more than he helped. Even though he studied ethics and moral philosophy, his indecisiveness made him a pain for everyone around him and made him unable to act when it came to actually doing good. He was like Elenor in a way, someone who no one wanted around after a while. As for why Tahani still gets stuck in the bad place even after all the good she tried to do, it's because it never served anyone but herself. I think that might have been a commentary on charities in general. She organized functions and raised lots of money, but we never learn if any of those charities ever went on to do any real good or effect real change. Only that it gave her certain prestige and a considerable fortune of her own. Also, any gratitude or positivity her image might have given to people was undone once the circumstances of her death were made public, finally exposing how selfish she truly was. Yes, she had a family who constantly neglected and belittled all of her efforts, but she still made all of those choices. As a result, she ended up in the bad place.
I love how no one argues for Jason lol.
The good place is only for the people with the top scores. Meaning that people can be in the green and still go to the bad place. Chidi’s indecisiveness led him to not actually do anything good to earn a spot in the good place. Combine that with how he inadvertently harms those around him and that is why he is in the bad place.
Mark Koehr honestly changing the will of a nation and ending slavery is almost impossible. Which is the biggest ticket items to get into the good place. Ex. Abraham Lincoln and MLK jr
Lol ironic how his almond milk reason turned out to be somewhat true
"Aren't trains neat? Choo-choo!"
I'm in love with not-a-robot Janet
Michael failed because he added too much outside badness instead of letting their inner badness fester. For example, the second attempt failed because it was too obviously meant to make Tahani miserable. If she’s supposed to be one of the people meant to be in the good place then why is everything making her miserable? Michael should have stuck with a more subtle approach like in the first part of season one when he only prodded insecurity instead of having big events happen. His plan started falling apart when the Vicky situation caused the bad place to demand people. Michael should have just added ‘Real’ Elenor into the mix and let the dynamics change and insecurities fester.
What he should have done is stop letting them choose who's going to the bad place that's also what's causing him to fail
I'm pretty certain "Micheal" is an Archangel, yeah THAT Micheal, and is pulling a massive con on Hell in order to fix the problems in Heaven.
@@spaceclaw1958 OH, you haven't seen the episode where Micheal finds out this was all set up to torture him all along?
This show makes me want to be a better person
I forking love this show!!!
the way the reuse jokes and funny statements from other reboots should make them not funny but it just makes them funnier 😂

I guess that's just another Hell thing
Became they made it seem like it was the good place
I think originally it was meant to be another form of torture, but then they forgot and just made it a good place thing
My mom always says that too.

I'm still confused as to why this sophisticated place has steam trains
For the aesthetic, a lot of stuff in the future across all different movies and shows has retro stuff just cause it looks and feels cooler
nope, just crazy place...
How did the bad place transport before trains were invented?

I feel like they may have stolen another Good Place Janet, since they rebooted her, (let's see) over 810 times?
Fan of Too Much #7071 she's hilaroius. Every time she is rebooted she becomes even smarter, and gains abilities she didn't have before
If this was the good place why couldn't you smoke a cigar?

In The Good Place, which takes place in a fake identical Good Place neighborhood in The Bad Place, everyone except for Janet are some of the most despicable characters out there, in any sort of media. _Everyone._ The worst of the lot are Brent Norwalk and Eleanor Shellstrop for sure. If we got to have a new VeggieTales video after Beauty and the Beet that was hosted on the countertop, and it was made between seasons of The VeggieTales Show, I want Lisa Vischer to write a kid-friendly parody of The Good Place called Nice List. Laura, Junior, Madame Blueberry and Larry all play people on the Naughty List of Santa Claus, who is played by Bob the Tomato. Finnegan J. Beet plays Krampus, and they need to devise a new way to punish people on the Naughty List when coal doesn't work for them anymore, so they make four veggies on the Naughty List think they won a vacation to the North Pole. Petunia plays Janelle, their vessel of knowledge who tells the accounting elves what naughty and nice things everyone is doing at any given time on Earth. At first, Laura's character thinks that only being nice in December paid off for her, until she meets Sara, the nice girl for whom she was mistaken who is actually on The Nice List. Laura, Junior, Madame Blueberry and Larry are allowed to go back to their homes once they learn that they have to be good for most of the year if they expect to get on Santa's Nice List, or even just to change their ways and be a good person regardless of whether or not they are still on the Naughty List, and the only reward that they owe to each other in return is to love each other, for the person who loves one another has fulfilled the law. That verse is from Romans 13:8. April 27, 2021, 1:49am
