Haha yeah wasn't in great nick, in overnighters I've done since this trip I've worked out different arrangements for my sleeping mat after what happened on this day.
Good video mate reminds.me of my friends land and hut near Lee's paddocks superb and we are so lucky...just hope they don't privatise it all in the future etc
Gday Caedence.....well after doing The Never Never a few weeks ago, watching this vid makes more sense! I did it the opposite way to you (M F Rd-Jnctn Lake- The Never Never-The Overland-Paddy Harnett tk- Lees Paddocks). i went down the true right of Mersey River, crossed the tree bridge near Mc Coy Falls and continued down the true left to Harnett Falls...yes, the section where you crossed over to the other side (at 7:49) looked good from where I was on the other side, but there IS a track there on the true left! Overall there IS a track that you can follow all the way BUT you REALLY had to look out for it!! I got "lost" in 2 sections of the whole Never Never but go back "on track" not long afterwards. I am surprised that there wasnt ANY "pink/orange" marker ribbons AT ALL, considering that a few people do it! I can send you GPX file........for the next time you do it! Also discovered a small waterfall on the Paddy harnett track as it comes close to the Mersey River....do you know it?
I reckon that mountain at the start of the video is actually Falling Mountain; Mt Geryon is further to the south near pine valley. That peak you were unsure about through the Never Never is either Mt Rogoona or the Mountains of Jupiter, probably the latter. I'm keen to go through the Never Never actually, looks tough in places but some of the forest (& waterfalls) seems pretty gorgeous!
Ah cool thanks, to be honest I'm pretty much clueless on mountains so was just guessing based on vague recollections of being told their names on the Overland Track last year. I'd say the Never Never is definitely worth doing at least once, although it's not exactly high on the list to try again anytime soon. As you said the forest and waterfalls are really nice through there.
Mate the matt on the side of your bag looked stuffed after that day
