I’ve never graded a card, but I get the impression these big name companies grade much harder now to control the market. As long as little 10s exist (for higher name cards), they get MORE submissions. They will never fail as long as collectors crave the returns.
That's why I'm looking forward to AI grading companies like AGS becoming popular. AI grading is theoretically much more consistent than what have today.
@Garrett Dixon I give a shi*, and thousands of others give a shi*. All the people that sent in crap like this, it clogged up the entire grading service industry, causing fees to go through the roof and waiting times became unreal; in some cases 18+ months. So when something in turn affects tens of thousands of people negatively, then yeah, people care
Great video. Never submitted anything for grading before. I've only purchased a handful of already graded cards. Big Knicks fan so I liked that you had a couple Obi's in there.
I have not submitted a card yet just starting off in the hobby again and trying to figure out what to submit with the new prices on psa. Tough Luck on all those 9s or lower. Thanks for the content, appreciate you putting yourself out there.
Looks like my same rope of submissions.. got several back as 10's. But the last two batches came back like yours.. lots of 9's and even 8's.. very few 10's.
Love a PSA return even if it makes you sick to watch haha. I definitely submitted some junk last year. I know I've got a 47 card sub I sent off in February 2021 I'm still waiting on and at least half of that stuff was not great. A few bangers but unless I rack up a bunch of 10s, probably gonna be a sick to your stomach opening like this one lol
I once submitted a Lebron topps chrome refractor I thought was absolutely perfect and got back a PSA 5.. I cracked it, the same exact card came back a 9 😑
First off, I've never graded a card so I don't have any crazy grading stories. But I can 100% understand how this happened to so many people. 2020 was a wild and crazy time and we were all looking for things to do indoors and take our minds off of Covid. I think the sports card market was drunk and still kind of is. But it's more of a happy hangover right now.
Not sure if it’s happy for the guys that have lost thousands but the market will continue to decline since panini and topps are printing into the stratosphere since fanatics have the licenses now.
I’ve had my fair share of grading blunders. When I first started I was way too eager to send to PSA and got stung on a few cards that looking back I should have never sent. So I know how it feels.
Still waiting for my value group sub I sent out December of 2020... maybe I'll have a good story then... honestly don't remember what I even sent... got it written down somewhere
I finally received my 100 card Psa order after 15 months and I’m pleasantly surprised that I had 70 Psa 10’s. I didn’t use a grading service either. But I’m also very picky what I’ll send out. I’m just happy I graded stars and not prospect rookies.
The last sentence of your comment is the key takeaway from this cautionary tale 😝 Doesn’t make sense to grade prospects and why PSA took a year and half to return submissions.
@@JusNoBS420 that’s why i sent mainly star players. Not prospects. You send out a rookie get the rookie cards back in two years and they now play in the g league. I’ve submitted hundreds to multiple grading companies over the years. I learned my lesson long time ago. The new guys will have to just go through the motions of losing the money.
@@greekperspective2076 granted times were crazy weird in 2020 and the grading game has changed because of it. But 1st round picks and high prospects have always been a gamble just like you said.
i have a few boxes of nba 1986 fleer sealed im debating on letting a card break youtuber open 1.5 boxes of the 4.5 boxes i got left i think it be cool to let someone just starting thier channel open a grail for his fanbase
You had me cracking up the whole time, James.....lololol!! Hindsight is 20/20, right, friend.... 😉 I think of all the $$$ I spent on (premium) Paschall singles when he was getting some decent run with GS, and then.... *ALSO* ....all of the " *FREE* " Jordan Poole cards I threw in on customers ebay orders. Even some autos! If we could only go back 2, short years ago....lol
Would love a QA on grading. I submitted a couple of cards for grading before and there are some things I think I should have done first before sending them in. Interested in your whole process.
I submitted a steph curry marvels press proof because I love the design. I'm not sure if I even looked at it. I got it back and it came back a 7. Had I looked at it I would've seen that there was nearly no bottom border. Still cool for the collection but was a huge bummer.
I’ve never had a blunder, still needing to pop my PSA Cherry! Gotta send in that Josh Allen Blue Lazer! Thanks for sharing that info on KK. I wanna submit a few cards and def wanna use a service but I’m nervous about it!
Have not submitted a card to grade yet but just waiting for bulk! Going to send a couple including my 2016 Bowman Fernando Tatis Jr. Yellow from the value packs and my Jonathan India Chrome X-Fractor from update.
Never even graded a card before. So can't get to down. Probably would have done the same thing as everyone else back then. Do you think we will ever see PSA under $50 ever again. Also is there something wrong with BGS. Never see any bulk reveals from that company always PSA or SGC during that time
I have some PSA cards that I bought but I’ve never sent any cards to psa but I’m thinking about it because I have a few good cards that are in great condition
I sent two Jason robertson young gun rookie cards. One got a 10 the other got a 5! Not sure what I missed on that one. Show us how yo snap out a card I think that would be a cool video
Ouch the 9 train ran right over you RunGood :( I had a similar submission come back recently - older cards that I had collected back in the 90s, but yeah I should have learned more about the intricacies of grading before I submitted them...
Glad to see that you got a 10 on KD Genesis at least. I only submitted one card to PSA so far due to the crazy increase in its fee (luckily got a 10 on Halliburton Select Elephant). However, did a few HGA submissions and came up quite poorly (some 7s and 7.5s)……
Never graded a card but I’m just getting back into hobby currently building my collection so I can start sending stuff of , your videos are very helpful on product appreciate the content
I've never had a grading blunder because I haven't gotten anything graded yet lol. I used to open boxes/packs years ago and got back into collecting in 2020/2021. My first graded card is one I recently purchased: a rookie DeMarco Murray Topps Chrome XFractor PSA 10.
If you ever get your cards graded you should look into Automated Grading Systems (AGS). They are a new grading company that grades cards with AI to make every card graded as fairly and accurately as possible. The AI that they use is also consistent so the same card will always get the same grade every time. Grading companies that grade with manual work is not always consistent since people can make mistakes.
I was really disciplined with subs until my very last one before they shut down - subbed a bunch of base donruss basketball. Like you said, it made sense at the time. I think Coby White base psa 10s were $100+ and 9s were still very profitable. Now not only are values way lower, it's tough to find buyers at all for them.
I recently submitted my 89 Upper Deck Griffey Jr that I pulled when I was a kid. Card centering was perfect and I was hoping for a high grade. Came back from PSA as a Good 2. Fair to say I was heartbroken hahah.
I’ve never submitted cards. But love picking them up at card shows or off eBay. Can definitely find great values considering the prices PSA charges now. Love your channel and love the PNW card community. Have a great weekend!
NO Blunders. This proves hind sight is 20/20 and we have all learned a lot Over the past year.I think the frenzy in the marketplace might have blinded us from Sending in only 10s and creating blunders. Thank you for taking the responsibility of shutting down the grading companies. I always enjoy your contentBlessings Bruce Almighty
I have never graded a card. I have a few that I am thinking about sending in eventually. I feel like I'm fine with having my PC cards raw. Love your content RGL.
I submitted a Mac Jones rated rookie from draft picks. I was way early on him but opened the pack the night I was doing my submission and decided to send it in. When it came back it was so off center it was comical. I must have had too many drinks that night!
I like the box battles. Grading tutorial would be nice. Random pack rips are always fun as well. Maybe a mix of 10 different random packs or something. Love your channel RGL.
Never submitted a card to grade before, or owned one even, hoping to invest in a slab at some point, or even submit my own cards. Real bummer you got a lot of nines, that’s just how it goes sometimes. Hope I can get a chance at one of those slabs! :)
Never graded a card, have bought a few... Would like to see more consistency out of grading in general. Have definitely seen some cards get 5-6's that seem like they should be much higher, and with PSA not giving sub grades or an explanation, it seems like the wild west where they can throw whatever number they want on a slab with no recourse.
I have only done one PSA Submission. I just did the blind reveal on my channel, and I think it went well for my first time. Great video. I would love for you to do a Q&A about all things cards.
I’ve never actually submitted to any grader yet, I plan too. And man I’m realizing I am really tough on my own cards. I can see a lot of center issues on a lot of your cards. Of course I can’t see the surface or the edges/corners unless you show them. But I am tough on my own cards, makes me glad because I believe I’ll get good grades back
Bro last year i ripped a 2021 UFC Debut edition blaster box and pulled a jon bones jones green pulsar 16/25 . I was so happy . Sent it in to PSA and it graded out at a 6😵
damn
Really late on some of these giveaways. This is our winner. Please email rungoodcards@gmail.com with your address to claim your slabs!

That's why I'm looking forward to AI grading companies like AGS becoming popular. AI grading is theoretically much more consistent than what have today.
I never graded yet but will send soon.
As someone who’s never graded these reveals are sorta helpful to set some expectations. Looking to prep my first sub in the next month.
Man, I really appreciate your honesty:). Crazy to think people sent in soooo much base and low end cards

Blind reveals are the best. So much emotion involved due to the amount of money on the line. It takes some guts to do this behind a camera.
Haven’t tried submitting a card for grading because of the ridiculous prices PSA and other companies charge you. 😩
What are you asking for the chase claypool?
Ive just started back in the hobby the past few months. Have sent only a handful of cards in for grading. Some definite upsets but learning as I go.

Just an observation. Why did the first card already have a perfect fit sleeve on the PSA card from out the box from PSA? Never seen that before.
I have only recently started grading cards and (knock on wood) have not had a blunder yet.
drink every time he says 9... and dont die challenge
My grading blunder is sending in a Pokémon card to HGA last October. Still hasn’t been scanned in.
