At 15:45 on 13 September 1943 a Vickers Wellington crashed on the hill. The flight was part of a cross-country and practice bombing exercise from RAF Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire. The crew encountered a severe thunderstorm above south Shropshire and was seen to be struck by lightning while flying over Lydbury North causing the plane to catch fire and lose height before disintegrating on the hilltop killing all eight crew members.
Beautiful landscape with drone! This video gives me a good experience as if I were flying over there! Appreciate sharing your good work!
Thank you for your kind comments. I’m pleased you enjoyed watching.

Thanks David
really nicely done, i shall be going in search of this v soon :)
Well worth a visit but pick your day as weather is often poor and can be very windy. It took 2 visits to film this, the first was way too windy. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@adamsdrone2770 What is the best way to get there? I looked on a map and cant work out how to get up the hill... best to approach from aston or hopesay? Also do you think i will get up there on a mountain bike?
Cheers
It’s quicker from Hopesay but a nicer walk from Aston on Clun. Bit of a climb both ways. If you want an easier option, Bury ditches is only a couple of miles away and is much easier to get to. It has a car park and easy path. It’s also easier to fly because visibility is much less obstructed. Have a look at my Bury Ditches video and see what you think.
Mountain bike possible from Aston but you are gonna need strong legs 😅
@@adamsdrone2770 been to bury ditches flying many times, didnt even know this one was here so keen to check it out! My bike is an Emtb so hills are nothing :D
thanks for the info and happy flying dude!
