  • Rudaki Park is a scenic, meticulously landscaped garden area featuring fountains, statues, manicured lawns, trees from across the globe and a plethora of stunning flowers.
Depending on your visit, it can be a real assault on the senses or a lazy morning reading on one of the many benches.
The centrepiece of Rudaki Park is, of course, a statue of Rudaki. This impressive sculpture has the poet standing under a beautifully decorated mosaicked rainbow.
The figure stands amongst a remarkable fountain of which part doubles as a stage. During national holidays and summer weekends it's excellent to view Tajik singers and the locals dancing along to a few tunes.

Prominent poets, such as Rudaki, who were influenced by the existing scientific-rational trend of their time, made poetry a means to express their philosophical and theosophical thoughts. Rudaki was a poet in the Samanid court and composed poems in praising Amir Nasr bin Ahmed Samani and other courtiers. He believed in Epicureanism - developed by the Greek philosopher Epicurus - and these thoughts may have formed the intellectual foundation of people like Khayyam, Attar and Hafiz.
