I got it only for the a.i that doesnt need a app to work. Zhiyun Smooth 5 5S was my choice but after a solid decision on functionality this is the heavy weight winner, only gripe is that one axis cant be locked.
@@Photoshopuzr i agree with you, it is the only nag I have about it. But I get around by using a bongo tie or recently I started using a long-ish nylon cable tie that dies the job, easy, quick and neatly….
@@Photoshopuzr same here. None of the others I was checking got this feature. They all require you to use their proprietary apps. For instance, if I want to use my teleprompter app to record, I can't. Getting mine tomorrow. Will see how it goes.

No, the hohem app cannot do prores. But to be frank, I use a 3rd party app and I would strongly recommend anyone to do that too, and only use the hohem app for the very few instances when you need to (settings and adjustments)
I hope the M6 will be all you want it to be. Hohem is upping the game. I am soon doing a comparison between the hohem M6 and the new Mt2… but the M6 is a great gimbal!!

I've recently received this gimbal, and I must say that the AI tracking is marvelous for solo content creators. Very happy with it all-around, the quality is top notch. My preferred video APP is Cinema P3 Pro, but the Hohem APP does certain features better, although limited, as you explained.

Great video, thanks a lot. As a real estate photographer i make a lot of videos of houses as well, just quick and cheap videos with a phone and gimbal. And with my DJI Osmo the head of the horizontal arm (that's holding the phone) comes into the screen whenever i make a pan and 'suddenly' stop or when i reverse the angle, so when making a S-pattern down a hallwall into a living room for example. The head at the end of the arm of this gimbal looks like it protrudes less forward, so im hoping it doesnt show up when filming in ultra wide. Did you ever notice this happening with this gimbal?
The gimbal has al ultra-wide mode that rotates the gimbal arm and gives you full clearance. You wonlt see the gimbal. I do show this towards the end of the video. Trust me on this, you shouldn't have any problem at all

Hello, Your videos are very informative. I really like. There is a detail that I cannot do on my gimbal, I don't know if anyone has already asked the same question here or not. But you turn the gimbal horizontally and vertically with just your hand and it responds well. But I can't do it on my Hohem iSteady M6. Do I need to adjust something, program something? I see several times a minute that you turn it with just your hand to make it the same, but mine doesn't stay vertical. Thank you and continued good videos.
You need to have the gimbal in a slight angle when you do the move. If you see the clip, i am holding the gimbal in a 30-45 degree angle. Try and let me know how it goes!
Very nice review Sam, as always, after all. You look enthusiastic in the video, so I believe it is a very good product. I see just one big weakness in the M6: the fact that the arm doesn't allow the phone to be charged while using it. Which, unfortunately, is mandatory for me, as I need long shots and my iPhone 14 Pro runs out of battery quite easily. BTW do not change your 13 Pro Max, I regretted it a lot! The M6 does allow for reverse charging too! I just tested it and it works, iphone charging through the gimbal. Unless I understood your point incorrectly….

It holds up well, but I was trying to use the neewer cage so that I could add an SSD drive on top. It does not fit the gimbal clamp when we add the cage. How would you add the SSD drive to the kit? Thanks to video when you talked about the DJI osmo mobile 6, I returned that gimbal because I was convinced that you were right. I bought this gimbal and I believe it's good because I haven't found a single review that speaks against or is bad for this gimbal.
Good choice! It is a good gimbal, it is not perfect and there is room for improvement but it works great. My next video out today is the M6 vs the smooth 5S. I bet youMll find that one interesting too!
This is great bro. Your videos are really good and fun to watch. I bought the Hohem V2 gimbal after seeing your video last year. I really loved it, but unfortunately I had to return it because it had too many problems and I may have gotten an early release model that wasn't ready for the market. The V2 had lots of jitter problems and it would not completely return to center unless I restarted the gimbal. I also found the handle to be too small and the phone mount was way too tight and could cause me to drop the gimbal and phone. It was not a good experience, except for the AI sensor. The Hohem M6 looks like the flagship product I was hoping for. Finally, I am really excited about a Hohem gimbal and they have definitely matured in this market. I may have to sell my Zhiyun Smooth Q4 after seeing this gimbal. I love my gimbal but the AI tracking which I used on the V2 is amazing and the M6 looks like a real game changer for phone gimbals. The M6 ai sensor is very, very good. My next video is M6 vs smooth 5S and i show more samples of it. But the bottom line is, you will love it, I don’t usually give so straight recommendations unless I am 100% sure of it.
Thanks for the video, it cleared up all my doubts. May I ask which mode you enter when you do the usual up/down test and crane shot? POV, PF, PFT, S, L....?
When I do down up or up down, I choose the final frame I am happy with, and then I use Lock (L) and it works amazing, I use Lock mode because that way the gimbal doesn't move sideways in case my wrist movemkent is not perfect. Try it, it works much better than pan follow.... I use pan follow when I move around. The sam applies when I do side reveal shots, I lock the end frame and then do sideways "tracking" knowing than the gimbal won't do any funny movements.. I hope it makes sense. Try and let me know.
Do you know if there is object tracking without the AI add-on, if the native app is used? And does it track animals as well as humans (with or without the AI add-on)? Thanks for a great review!
There is a tracking app in the app for objects and another one for faces. The AI tracker is for 1x face only so there are also limitations there. I hope this helps!
You actually don’t even need to open the app to set your Timelapse locations. You can do it using the A and B buttons on the side next to the wheel. You can use them for panoramic shots or just to have a setting to recreate the same shot multiple times. Doesn’t have to be Timelapse. Any reason you might want to smoothly flow between specific locations, you can do it there, and without using the app! Very cool feature.
Yes, you can do it that way but when I was testing that it feel it wasn’t well implemented and it was all a bit unreliable… need to do more testing on that.. but yes, this gimbal is so good in so many ways…

However, I have one last perplexity that I would like to unravel: the Flow has the ability to take spherical photos and for me who travels a lot that is a killer feature. Can the M6 do something like that? If not, is there an app or something similar to do it without Flow? Thank you very much in advance!
There are apps that can do that effect for you. Are you in android or iOS? Trust me, as a whole, the M6 is going to give you a way better experience, especially if this was to be your only gimbal…
I don’t own the dji mic but the gimbal’s roll axis has clearance enough to fit the phone with the cable. I would say yes. But personally when I use a gimbal and I need to record sound, I use an little external H1N recorder and then sync in post. Less hassle, no cables, etc. Would that be a good solution for you too?
you are brave to fit the smallrig smartphone cage in the gimbal. i tried it really hard. it wouldnt. dont want to break the gimbal. but yes i use it with freewell lenses and am usually doing 500 grams. including about 40 grams in counterweights. so yeah no problem. nice video . thanks.
To be honest with you, I don’t do that really. Soon after filming I realised it is best to use a lighter case and also smaller that supports whatever lenses I use. Your set up sounds really good!!

Hello Samuel, thank you for your detailed test report. What I notice with my M6 gimbal is that I can hear the motor noise from the gimbal on the shots. Is this normal? With your recordings I have at least not noticed it. Did you use an external microphone?
Have you done a calibration? If you did and still hear the noise, you might want to contact hohem support. They are very good. Please let me know how you get on with it. I would like to know they get you sorted out asap.
For those who bought the m6 for a while now, hows your experience so far? I was planning to buy one but I saw some overheating issues commented by users from other channels. It somehow made me skeptical to buy it.

The gimbal is independent to your phone so if your phone streams well onto YT, the gimbal will help you big time stabilise shots or even better, using the AI sensor, it will track you as you move around.
@@SamuelSotiega Hey Samuel... so i got the gimbal and now can't use a microphone with it... mount the phone and the microphone connection is blocked by the gimbal. What solution did you use? I can't find anything on youtube or the hohem site about this major design floor :(
The gimbal’s roll axis is strong and capable enough so if you fit a right angle cable. It will will balance. I always record audio on a small H1N that I carry in my pocket…
@@SamuelSotiega other than that non locking arm and some weirdness with the fill light knocking up against the gimbal in a low underslung shot, I haven't had any issues. I'm still putting it through its paces to see if I can get it to freak out or fail during some common usages. I'm really hoping future DJI OM models continue to fail the up and down test. It's really weird to see you so happy with a product! I miss the videos with disbelief at crap design and dildo in the pocket references. I hope Hohem keeps the lead because I need a few laughs down the road!

For hand gesture you need to be within 1.5-5ft. The AI tracker will work reliably within the range if 1.5-10ft. Anything further and you are outside their advertised range so it might or might not work.
I got mine and had to return it because the motor kake a cracking sound. Was defective i think. I m waiting a new one. The other think is the tracking on portrait mode we are not in the center of the frame because the tracker is on the side. 9:28
It's been over a year since this video. Do you have a "best" gimble recommendation for a Samsung S24 Ultra for live streaming and recording? Walking, touring POV and selfie? Landscape mode?
Can you help me answering these questions so I can give you some objective opinion? Do you need a gimbal that has very good/ AI tracking? Do you need it portable or a big bigger (and better) is what’s needed? Also, do you do crane up (from the ground up) shots or that is not something you donor case about?

I still recommend the hohem gimbals. They are solid and reliable and I have yet to get one person to get back to me complaining about not being happy. I just put it together and tested it and there is no new version for the app. Saying that, I still enjoy using it as it has become my favourite smartphone gimbal, by a long stretch, despite the lack of firmware upgrade...

The two omissions in the app around framerate and shutter speed are pretty glaring. Very bizarre. Have they addressed that in an app date since this review?
They have addressed it and included more frame rates and easier shutter speed adjustments. They have actually changed the layout too and it now feels and looks more like the mimo app. It is a usable now nowadays.
I use sandmarc filters, and they have proven very good. The VND is 8-64ND is good for cloudy days adn sunset sunrise but you will need a 128ND for sunny days. Or, as I do, a 40.5mm 64ND filter that i can then add the sandmarc VND on top, and get no X effect at all. I strongly recommend you get the phone case and the filter mount adaptor so you don't have have light spill/ flares that you will get if you use their clip-on mount. That's my recommendation.... @@peymansalar7804 yes, but you buy quality. I have tested others and these ones from Sandmarc has no color shifting. You buy cheaper glass and as you stop down filter you’ll get color shifting. Unless you buy straight NDs, but even then the cheaper ones will change color from filter to filter… but ultimately you decide. But do some research, you might find something good for less…
From what I've seen so far is that almost all 3 axis gimbals don't have sufficient clearance to incorporate an external microphone. With an I-phone and the Android phones the charging port is covered by the tilt axis gimbal arm having no allowance for a microphone. While the Android phones have a usable separate mic input the length of the 3.5mm plug interferes with the tilt gimbal axis.
there is some truth in what you say. If you want to use an onboard mic, I would suggest you get a gimbal like the zhiyun crane M3S or Hohem MT2, which are hybrid, and you can mount the phone upside down. You could mount the mic on to the gimbal and then you just need to run a wire to the hone, which as you have it upside down, it has clear access. Could a set of wireless mics be a good alternative for what you want to do?
@@SamuelSotiega I have a wireless mic but the receiver still has to be plugged into the phone and the plug interferes with the tilt gimbal. The MT2 is all most 3 times the cost of an Isteady Mobile+.
Simple thing as you can't lock the axis will stop me from buying it. Will wait for the next version if they are going to implement it. Anyway, good review and thanks for providing the useful information.

Hi sir. How can you do the vertical to horizontal so easily. What is your mode? PF? PTF? L? POV? I tried to copy what you did but my M6 can’t do what you did.
It is not waterproof to the level of heavy rain. I would imagine it can take a bit of light rain but there are a lot of moving parts that don't feel water-sealed to me. It can take a fair amount of damage, if you know what I mean, and as far as I have experienced, the gimbal works after using it since it came out.... But then again, my usage might be different than yours... But it does look solid to me...

You are right, the hohem ia more focused towards vlogging, content creator filming themselves or talking to camera, whatever the environment, whereas the flow is more for a but of everything, but always keeping everything and everyone in the middle of the frame remember that…

I don’t know. I have never used it that way. Have you tried emailing hohem support? My experience with them is really good. But maybe the implementation in terms of software for those platforms is not in place, but I don’t know.
@@SamuelSotiega probably would not. What I’m talking about is adding like a blink 500 iphone receiver. There’s no room since the lightning port butts right up to the gumble. I love the way the new INSTA360 Flow leaves room to access the lightning port

The pan lock has given way. It locks but it is not solid. I use a bongo tie to keep it all together… it is the one area they need to work on… but it is still a lot of fun to use for sure. And that doesn’t mean it will happen to everyone, just the unit I have… Thanks for watching!

Are you going to review the Insta360 Flow? It's not like these conventional gimbals like M6 or Smooth 5/5S, but I have it as well for pocket sized portability and the unique software features of the Insta360 app. Spherical Panoramas like no other gimbal and Deep Track can track better than any other gimbal. It requires people after losing them behind things and can tell subjects apart! Limited on some axis though, so you might find that an issue. Curious what your thoughts are since this is your area of expertise.

I usually record audio externally on a zoom H1N when using a gimbal. You could use any unit and use the 3.5mm adaptor so you record via a 3.5mm cable, rather than one of those units that the receiver plugs directly onto the phone. This is convenient but will give you a bulkier set up than just using a cable. I will soon be testing and review the Boys BY-M1V5, but I am not sure it is the best for using with a gimbal. The gimbal's roll axis bar is long enough to compensate for the phone sticking out a bit. Do you use a lot of accessories like lenses and filters, or just the phone on its own?

I watched your other great video and decided to buy the hohem isteady v2 mainly for its portability! I'll be shooting nature, scenery and hiking so most likely some still shots with a little bit of panning. I won't be doing much talking to the mic and was hoping to pick up the sounds of nature. Am I right in thinking that a shotgun mic would be best for this purpose? Currently no plans to use lens but maybe in the future! Thanks for your response
@@mattl9146 a shotgun mic will probably render your kit heavier than you want. If it was me and you plan to record the aounds of nature, have you considered a stereo recorder with built-in mics. You can place it anywhere you want and you’ll get amazing atmos recording (this is what I do with a tascam DR40X) and you could get a cheap(ish) mic for your phone that you plug directly onto it for when you talk to camera or interview anyone, if you ever do that. How does this set up sound?

I just received my iSteady M6 and it's great! Should I disable the Google Pixel 7 Pro "Standard" stabilization for light movements to get best possible quality, or keep it enabled? (It's enabled by default)
I think if you leave it on it will help but by all means run some tests yourself. Do a walking test and a tun test with and without and see which options feels better for you. Congratulations!!! Is it easy to attach a microphone? Because the end of the phone clicks in the usb-c I think? I would like to combine it with the rode wireless go 2 if possible or would you suggest the dji wireless microphone?
@@SamuelSotiega Maybe a ND filter, but not that much. Just thinking about starting with my iPhone 14 pro, the right gimbal (doubting between zhiyun 5s and this one, but after this video I am leaning towards Hohem) and a good wireless microphone (rode or dji). Do you have any other suggestions?
well, the secret is to make sure there is no wind, because all smartphone gimbals are lightweight and any strong wind or even small breeze can move the camea even if slightly meaning your long exposure gets ruined. But in the right conditions, it can get yu really good results. What exactly dom you have in mind?
You do but for the most part, it is still the same app with almost the same features.. but I am on iPhone so hard to say for certain which features you lose...
It is a smallrig case for the 13 pro max, but they have for many iPhone models, make sure you choose the correct one and also the correct lens mount for the lenses you have or plan to have. Make sure it all works! amzn.to/3tzRP5p
You can use any monopod, nothing is particular.. Find one that suits your budget and requirements. You just need to make sure it as a 1/4" screw at the top (most have) so that you can screw the gimbal on top and do those crazy shots.
someone please help... does this gimbal have any major problems at all? like is it level/does the phone clamp actually keep the phone level? I recently had to return zhiyun smooth 5s because of phone clamp slanting phone unevenly
I have been using it for weeks now and no issue at all. The pan axis lock has gone though, and I reported this to them and they are aware it is something they beed to improve on in future models. But as a gimbal, works perfectly…

I have been using filmic pro legacy and it works fine but also I’ve been using lately an app called mavis pro. Not the same but the image quality is great. But it is probably a bit complex or advanced for some to use. Maybe I should do a video about smartphone camera apps now that filmic pro has changed payment structure…

I got it only for the a.i that doesnt need a app to work. Zhiyun Smooth 5 5S was my choice but after a solid decision on functionality this is the heavy weight winner, only gripe is that one axis cant be locked.

No, the hohem app cannot do prores. But to be frank, I use a 3rd party app and I would strongly recommend anyone to do that too, and only use the hohem app for the very few instances when you need to (settings and adjustments)

I've recently received this gimbal, and I must say that the AI tracking is marvelous for solo content creators. Very happy with it all-around, the quality is top notch. My preferred video APP is Cinema P3 Pro, but the Hohem APP does certain features better, although limited, as you explained.

Great video, thanks a lot. As a real estate photographer i make a lot of videos of houses as well, just quick and cheap videos with a phone and gimbal. And with my DJI Osmo the head of the horizontal arm (that's holding the phone) comes into the screen whenever i make a pan and 'suddenly' stop or when i reverse the angle, so when making a S-pattern down a hallwall into a living room for example. The head at the end of the arm of this gimbal looks like it protrudes less forward, so im hoping it doesnt show up when filming in ultra wide. Did you ever notice this happening with this gimbal?
The gimbal has al ultra-wide mode that rotates the gimbal arm and gives you full clearance. You wonlt see the gimbal. I do show this towards the end of the video. Trust me on this, you shouldn't have any problem at all

Your videos are very informative. I really like. There is a detail that I cannot do on my gimbal, I don't know if anyone has already asked the same question here or not. But you turn the gimbal horizontally and vertically with just your hand and it responds well. But I can't do it on my Hohem iSteady M6. Do I need to adjust something, program something? I see several times a minute that you turn it with just your hand to make it the same, but mine doesn't stay vertical.

You need to have the gimbal in a slight angle when you do the move. If you see the clip, i am holding the gimbal in a 30-45 degree angle. Try and let me know how it goes!

Very nice review Sam, as always, after all. You look enthusiastic in the video, so I believe it is a very good product. I see just one big weakness in the M6: the fact that the arm doesn't allow the phone to be charged while using it. Which, unfortunately, is mandatory for me, as I need long shots and my iPhone 14 Pro runs out of battery quite easily. BTW do not change your 13 Pro Max, I regretted it a lot!

The M6 does allow for reverse charging too! I just tested it and it works, iphone charging through the gimbal. Unless I understood your point incorrectly….

My phone is the 13 pro max. But to be honest. I use a smaller case. I use sandmarc lenses and I use their lighter case and avoid pushing it so hard…

Thanks to video when you talked about the DJI osmo mobile 6, I returned that gimbal because I was convinced that you were right. I bought this gimbal and I believe it's good because I haven't found a single review that speaks against or is bad for this gimbal.
Good choice! It is a good gimbal, it is not perfect and there is room for improvement but it works great. My next video out today is the M6 vs the smooth 5S. I bet youMll find that one interesting too!

I bought the Hohem V2 gimbal after seeing your video last year. I really loved it, but unfortunately I had to return it because it had too many problems and I may have gotten an early release model that wasn't ready for the market.
The V2 had lots of jitter problems and it would not completely return to center unless I restarted the gimbal. I also found the handle to be too small and the phone mount was way too tight and could cause me to drop the gimbal and phone. It was not a good experience, except for the AI sensor.
The Hohem M6 looks like the flagship product I was hoping for. Finally, I am really excited about a Hohem gimbal and they have definitely matured in this market.
I may have to sell my Zhiyun Smooth Q4 after seeing this gimbal. I love my gimbal but the AI tracking which I used on the V2 is amazing and the M6 looks like a real game changer for phone gimbals. Thanks again for this review!
The M6 ai sensor is very, very good. My next video is M6 vs smooth 5S and i show more samples of it. But the bottom line is, you will love it, I don’t usually give so straight recommendations unless I am 100% sure of it.

May I ask which mode you enter when you do the usual up/down test and crane shot? POV, PF, PFT, S, L....?
When I do down up or up down, I choose the final frame I am happy with, and then I use Lock (L) and it works amazing, I use Lock mode because that way the gimbal doesn't move sideways in case my wrist movemkent is not perfect. Try it, it works much better than pan follow.... I use pan follow when I move around. The sam applies when I do side reveal shots, I lock the end frame and then do sideways "tracking" knowing than the gimbal won't do any funny movements.. I hope it makes sense. Try and let me know.
Do you know if there is object tracking without the AI add-on, if the native app is used? And does it track animals as well as humans (with or without the AI add-on)? Thanks for a great review!
There is a tracking app in the app for objects and another one for faces. The AI tracker is for 1x face only so there are also limitations there. I hope this helps!

You actually don’t even need to open the app to set your Timelapse locations. You can do it using the A and B buttons on the side next to the wheel. You can use them for panoramic shots or just to have a setting to recreate the same shot multiple times. Doesn’t have to be Timelapse. Any reason you might want to smoothly flow between specific locations, you can do it there, and without using the app! Very cool feature.
Yes, you can do it that way but when I was testing that it feel it wasn’t well implemented and it was all a bit unreliable… need to do more testing on that.. but yes, this gimbal is so good in so many ways…

However, I have one last perplexity that I would like to unravel: the Flow has the ability to take spherical photos and for me who travels a lot that is a killer feature. Can the M6 do something like that? If not, is there an app or something similar to do it without Flow? Thank you very much in advance!
There are apps that can do that effect for you. Are you in android or iOS? Trust me, as a whole, the M6 is going to give you a way better experience, especially if this was to be your only gimbal…

Can u use the dji mic with this???
I don’t own the dji mic but the gimbal’s roll axis has clearance enough to fit the phone with the cable. I would say yes. But personally when I use a gimbal and I need to record sound, I use an little external H1N recorder and then sync in post. Less hassle, no cables, etc. Would that be a good solution for you too?
you are brave to fit the smallrig smartphone cage in the gimbal. i tried it really hard. it wouldnt. dont want to break the gimbal. but yes i use it with freewell lenses and am usually doing 500 grams. including about 40 grams in counterweights. so yeah no problem. nice video . thanks.
To be honest with you, I don’t do that really. Soon after filming I realised it is best to use a lighter case and also smaller that supports whatever lenses I use. Your set up sounds really good!!

Hello Samuel, thank you for your detailed test report. What I notice with my M6 gimbal is that I can hear the motor noise from the gimbal on the shots. Is this normal? With your recordings I have at least not noticed it. Did you use an external microphone?
Have you done a calibration? If you did and still hear the noise, you might want to contact hohem support. They are very good. Please let me know how you get on with it. I would like to know they get you sorted out asap.

For those who bought the m6 for a while now, hows your experience so far? I was planning to buy one but I saw some overheating issues commented by users from other channels. It somehow made me skeptical to buy it.
I have so far not had any issues but tomorrow I will been using it for 3 hours non-stop filming something and I can give you some feedback.

Hello - do you know if this works well UA-cam live streaming outside walking around using the UA-cam app ?
The gimbal is independent to your phone so if your phone streams well onto YT, the gimbal will help you big time stabilise shots or even better, using the AI sensor, it will track you as you move around.

The gimbal’s roll axis is strong and capable enough so if you fit a right angle cable. It will will balance. I always record audio on a small H1N that I carry in my pocket…

@@SamuelSotiega other than that non locking arm and some weirdness with the fill light knocking up against the gimbal in a low underslung shot, I haven't had any issues. I'm still putting it through its paces to see if I can get it to freak out or fail during some common usages.
I'm really hoping future DJI OM models continue to fail the up and down test. It's really weird to see you so happy with a product! I miss the videos with disbelief at crap design and dildo in the pocket references.

For hand gesture you need to be within 1.5-5ft. The AI tracker will work reliably within the range if 1.5-10ft. Anything further and you are outside their advertised range so it might or might not work.
I got mine and had to return it because the motor kake a cracking sound. Was defective i think. I m waiting a new one. The other think is the tracking on portrait mode we are not in the center of the frame because the tracker is on the side. 9:28
My experience is ok when in portrait. You just have to do the pause sign, adjust position and hen the ok sign again. It should work fine.
It's been over a year since this video. Do you have a "best" gimble recommendation for a Samsung S24 Ultra for live streaming and recording? Walking, touring POV and selfie? Landscape mode?
Can you help me answering these questions so I can give you some objective opinion? Do you need a gimbal that has very good/ AI tracking? Do you need it portable or a big bigger (and better) is what’s needed? Also, do you do crane up (from the ground up) shots or that is not something you donor case about?

The two omissions in the app around framerate and shutter speed are pretty glaring. Very bizarre. Have they addressed that in an app date since this review?
They have addressed it and included more frame rates and easier shutter speed adjustments. They have actually changed the layout too and it now feels and looks more like the mimo app. It is a usable now nowadays.

I use sandmarc filters, and they have proven very good. The VND is 8-64ND is good for cloudy days adn sunset sunrise but you will need a 128ND for sunny days. Or, as I do, a 40.5mm 64ND filter that i can then add the sandmarc VND on top, and get no X effect at all. I strongly recommend you get the phone case and the filter mount adaptor so you don't have have light spill/ flares that you will get if you use their clip-on mount. That's my recommendation....

@@peymansalar7804 yes, but you buy quality. I have tested others and these ones from Sandmarc has no color shifting. You buy cheaper glass and as you stop down filter you’ll get color shifting. Unless you buy straight NDs, but even then the cheaper ones will change color from filter to filter… but ultimately you decide. But do some research, you might find something good for less…
From what I've seen so far is that almost all 3 axis gimbals don't have sufficient clearance to incorporate an external microphone. With an I-phone and the Android phones the charging port is covered by the tilt axis gimbal arm having no allowance for a microphone. While the Android phones have a usable separate mic input the length of the 3.5mm plug interferes with the tilt gimbal axis.
there is some truth in what you say. If you want to use an onboard mic, I would suggest you get a gimbal like the zhiyun crane M3S or Hohem MT2, which are hybrid, and you can mount the phone upside down. You could mount the mic on to the gimbal and then you just need to run a wire to the hone, which as you have it upside down, it has clear access. Could a set of wireless mics be a good alternative for what you want to do?
@@SamuelSotiega I have a wireless mic but the receiver still has to be plugged into the phone and the plug interferes with the tilt gimbal. The MT2 is all most 3 times the cost of an Isteady Mobile+.

I am on pan follow. So the gimbal is always horizontal. But I also get good results with using follow mode. What phone do you have?
Is it rugged enough to carry in a pack hiking? Waterproof?
It is not waterproof to the level of heavy rain. I would imagine it can take a bit of light rain but there are a lot of moving parts that don't feel water-sealed to me. It can take a fair amount of damage, if you know what I mean, and as far as I have experienced, the gimbal works after using it since it came out.... But then again, my usage might be different than yours... But it does look solid to me...

Your videos made me change my mind as I had the OM6 on my sights. Hoping for the best results as I am trying really hard to find negatives of the hohem and so far I only found one person that complained about motor noises during filming.

You are right, the hohem ia more focused towards vlogging, content creator filming themselves or talking to camera, whatever the environment, whereas the flow is more for a but of everything, but always keeping everything and everyone in the middle of the frame remember that…

I don’t know. I have never used it that way. Have you tried emailing hohem support? My experience with them is really good. But maybe the implementation in terms of software for those platforms is not in place, but I don’t know.

No. It draws power from the gimbal’s battery. Quite clever
I've been thinking hard about getting this gimble, however I wish it had room for an external mic reciever on the iphone.
The payload and strength of motors are enough to handle the iPhone cable. Do you use accessories like lenses and filters with your gimbal?
@@SamuelSotiega probably would not. What I’m talking about is adding like a blink 500 iphone receiver. There’s no room since the lightning port butts right up to the gumble. I love the way the new INSTA360 Flow leaves room to access the lightning port

The pan lock has given way. It locks but it is not solid. I use a bongo tie to keep it all together… it is the one area they need to work on… but it is still a lot of fun to use for sure. And that doesn’t mean it will happen to everyone, just the unit I have… Thanks for watching!
@@SamuelSotiega Okay thanks. I worry about durability, but I generally treat my gear well, I'm not one who is hard on my gear so maybe mine won't experience this. Are you going to review the Insta360 Flow? It's not like these conventional gimbals like M6 or Smooth 5/5S, but I have it as well for pocket sized portability and the unique software features of the Insta360 app. Spherical Panoramas like no other gimbal and Deep Track can track better than any other gimbal. It requires people after losing them behind things and can tell subjects apart! Limited on some axis though, so you might find that an issue. Curious what your thoughts are since this is your area of expertise.

I usually record audio externally on a zoom H1N when using a gimbal. You could use any unit and use the 3.5mm adaptor so you record via a 3.5mm cable, rather than one of those units that the receiver plugs directly onto the phone. This is convenient but will give you a bulkier set up than just using a cable. I will soon be testing and review the Boys BY-M1V5, but I am not sure it is the best for using with a gimbal. The gimbal's roll axis bar is long enough to compensate for the phone sticking out a bit. Do you use a lot of accessories like lenses and filters, or just the phone on its own?

I'll be shooting nature, scenery and hiking so most likely some still shots with a little bit of panning. I won't be doing much talking to the mic and was hoping to pick up the sounds of nature.
Am I right in thinking that a shotgun mic would be best for this purpose? Currently no plans to use lens but maybe in the future!

@@mattl9146 a shotgun mic will probably render your kit heavier than you want. If it was me and you plan to record the aounds of nature, have you considered a stereo recorder with built-in mics. You can place it anywhere you want and you’ll get amazing atmos recording (this is what I do with a tascam DR40X) and you could get a cheap(ish) mic for your phone that you plug directly onto it for when you talk to camera or interview anyone, if you ever do that. How does this set up sound?

What the pan range when holding the gimbal handle parallal to the ground? Can it do 90 degrees?

I just received my iSteady M6 and it's great! Should I disable the Google Pixel 7 Pro "Standard" stabilization for light movements to get best possible quality, or keep it enabled? (It's enabled by default)
I think if you leave it on it will help but by all means run some tests yourself. Do a walking test and a tun test with and without and see which options feels better for you. Congratulations!!! Is it easy to attach a microphone? Because the end of the phone clicks in the usb-c I think? I would like to combine it with the rode wireless go 2 if possible or would you suggest the dji wireless microphone?

well, the secret is to make sure there is no wind, because all smartphone gimbals are lightweight and any strong wind or even small breeze can move the camea even if slightly meaning your long exposure gets ruined. But in the right conditions, it can get yu really good results. What exactly dom you have in mind?

You do but for the most part, it is still the same app with almost the same features.. but I am on iPhone so hard to say for certain which features you lose...
Whats the name of the case you are using on the iPhone?

Hi... which monopod are you using for the crane shots? Or is it the selfie stick hohem supplies?
You can use any monopod, nothing is particular.. Find one that suits your budget and requirements. You just need to make sure it as a 1/4" screw at the top (most have) so that you can screw the gimbal on top and do those crazy shots.

someone please help... does this gimbal have any major problems at all? like is it level/does the phone clamp actually keep the phone level? I recently had to return zhiyun smooth 5s because of phone clamp slanting phone unevenly
I have been using it for weeks now and no issue at all. The pan axis lock has gone though, and I reported this to them and they are aware it is something they beed to improve on in future models. But as a gimbal, works perfectly…
i have noticed that a lot of your outdoor videos are washed out for some reasons. maybe color grading issue or lack of.
Or simply put, I don't like overly saturated and contrasty look.... But it could well be your monitor. On mine they look bright and colorful... But thanks for bringing this up! Can you let me know what computer/ laptop you use to se e if I can work out whether it is at my end or yours? Cheers

I have been using filmic pro legacy and it works fine but also I’ve been using lately an app called mavis pro. Not the same but the image quality is great. But it is probably a bit complex or advanced for some to use. Maybe I should do a video about smartphone camera apps now that filmic pro has changed payment structure…
