Amen Amen Amen! A beautiful and wonderful message and reflection!🙏💖 "COME, HOLY SPIRIT, fill me, consume me, and use me for Your glory." There is something very special that happens when we approach the birth of our Lord. As you have said, Christmas has become very secular and, oh what a shame. It isn't so much the gift giving, for the Christ child was presented gifts, but it is the depth of the meaning in Christmas that has become, how should I say, lost it's impact on the faith it was meant to bear. The song of praise which we heard in our Gospel reading is an example of the joy we should feel, just as Zechariah was feeling when he, in prophecy, announced the fulfillment of the prophets prophecying the birth of his son and the Christ child. The birth of John the Baptist was an important event to the coming of the Christ. Looking closely at his life, he was driven by the Holy Spirit, free from the temptations of the flesh and empowered by the truth. Just like Jesus, John's coming was not with pomp and immediate recognition, but by prophecy through a promise by God to His people. John knew his purpose and as we read in Luke 3:16 one of the most powerful testimonies in the Bible. John said, "I baptize you with water, but He who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." There is no doubt that, John was endowed with the Holy Spirit and that his prophetic messages concerning Christ came from the Holy Spirit! In this wonderful time, let's look closer to the gift that God gave to us and ponder over it's divine meaning to our lives. We celebrate Christmas one time a year, and all those gifts we give or receive will soon be forgotten, only to be replaced by something else later. But the greatness of the gift that God gave to us will be with us forever and not only that, it is the only gift you will ever receive that will only make your life better. The more intimate that you become with Christ, the more peaceful and productive your life will become. Zechariah and Elizabeth discovered that as well as Joseph and Mary. God provided the opportunity and they accepted it in faith and trust due ones creator. I AM is an appropriate name for God, for there is no greater than He. The fruition of the story tomorrow is only the beginning of the journey God invites us to travel. The life of Jesus began in humblness and was lived in that same humblness and humility. Holy Spirit, relieve me of my pride, ego, and selfishness, not only in that day, but every day of my life.🙏💖🕊🕊🕊
