    I totally agree that vintage fans are a lot better than modern fans. I use my vintage 80's Sanyo desk fan every night to circulate the air in my bedroom, and even on high, i really don't hear much noise other than my air conditioning unit's fan which rattles quite a bit.

    I absolutely love oldschool fans. A few years back, I saw an old fan on the side of the road for garbage!! It was an AMAZING 80s Panasonic fan and the thing looked brand new! 5 years later and the thing still works perfectly. I always had a nostalgia to these era fans because those are the ones I grew up with... And they are better than new fans in every aspect. Another time I got so lucky at goodwill and found 2 vintage fans, both still in the package!!!! Because the tape from the box gave up, they were exposed to heat and light. The smaller of the huge fans works perfectly and is the best fan I have ever seen. The bigger fan wan another issue.when I removed it from the Styrofoam, the blade just crumbled to a thousand pieces :)
    For anyone looking to buy a vintage fan - Always check out the blade... They seem to be the most delicate... and in many cases, it may be very difficult to find a replacement!

      12" blade replacements are readily available.. They're functional but likely not the same color and shape as the originals..

    Yes they are! I have a early to mid-60's Lakewood metal box fan that still runs. It's noisy, has big paddle-like blades but is built like a tank! The noise doesn't bother me. I need noise at bedtime or else I can't sleep!

      For the amount of air it throws,, those are far quieter than the petal blade fans.. I also much prefer the sound they make..

    Back then manufacturers were about making a damn good fan. Now they are about making damn good profit, and let quality fall where the customers will put up with it.

    So quiet, I usually have my Blue Blade 12" one on Medium through the night and it gets the air moving pretty cozy. Best fan I ever bought besides a Samsung one from the same era.

    The only fans in my house and in my classroom I use are vintage fans I keep on up on the back cabinet and it keeps the air moving in the classroom and it is nice and quiet so no one is paying attention to the fan instead of me and one time I had a new box fan in the classroom and it made more noise than air I hate new fans so I gave that fan to a nother staff member because I hated it. And I love how the older a fan gets the more of a start up sound it gets.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  7 років тому

      The new fans are definitely too loud,, that's what I dislike most about them.. The startup sounds from the older motors are definitely neat..

    It's simple new fans are China crap. However the only Decent to alright modern fans are: Lasko, Honey well, Vornado , Dyson and Patton.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  7 років тому +2

      I have no experience with Dyson fans,, but from what I've worked with Lasko and Honeywell really do put out a decent product for the price.. Vornado is good too,, but their prices recently have gone far out of what most people, including myself, would be willing to spend on a fan..

    • @delta_cosmic

      I have vornado three speed fans (95% steel) in my bedrooms and livingroom/dining room ... no need for a/c. They're great and circulate the air evenly. They ran $70 a piece - fair price. In the long run you save on electricity.

    Vintage fans are better for sure. I can't stand my crummy box fan from 2 years ago. It rattles, shakes, and provides little air movement on low. I once had a panasonic desk fan and it was awesome. Quiet, strong air flow, and long lasting.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  3 роки тому +1

      Panasonic used to make great quality stuff back in the day.

  • @versedbridge4007
    @versedbridge4007 2 роки тому

    You are absolutely correct Jordan, pretty much any modern fan will never outperform a vintage fan, especially those galaxy fans. I could never use a modern walmart or target special fan that would last 6 months and break and be super loud, plus the vintage fans usually look great.

    • @JordanU

      Jordan U The only one I could recommend that isn't Incredibly modern is the Gigaset A165. Only issue is they seem to only be available in places like the UK or Germany.

      That can be said about most appliances.

  • @JoshuaAndMom
    @JoshuaAndMom 4 роки тому

    I would agree 100%. As of today, lasko thinks the fans are made in USA with domestic and imported parts, which they are flat out lying about the quality (which the motors are possibly china pride). The box fans are pure junk. Steel body, built to last, NO! Its built to break. 100+ years of quality, (Not even close to 100 years. well its 85 years prior to year 2000). Its not just modern fans that ends up in landfills, all modern HE major appliances, such as TVs, washers, dryers, fridges, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, toasters, dehumidifiers, and HVAC units are built to break nowadays. We have like 2 central air units one upstairs and one vintage one downstairs. The one upstairs was purchased almost 10 years ago. And it needed repairs not just once or twice, while the 40-year old unit (downstairs) lasts a long time. Everything vintage is just made better, not just fans btw.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  4 роки тому

      You are absolutely correct; all new appliances are junk.

      @@benp.5698I would say, give that GE a run during the day for a few hours and check up on it every 30 minutes or something to see if any burning smells are present, if there are not then that is a good thing. A burning smell is usually an indication of an overheating motor (I think, it is still a very bad smell anyways)
