Not just "La Plata", but "Argentina" also means "Silver".
The hats are called Phrygian caps and they're a symbol of liberty (especially since the French Revolution). If you look at the flag of West Virginia, you see the day the Hatfields and the McCoys put aside their differences to brutally murder their common enemy Papa Smurf with crude farm implements.

Argentinian here and honestly not sure what he is going on about "La plata", there is no region of land called that in the country. Either he refers to the Río de la Plata basin (which is huge and extends to Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay) or to the provincial capital city of La Plata (that didn't exist at this point yet).

Interesting factoid: handsome was originally a compliment for a horse- being many hands tall was being handsome, and thus, being a majestic unit. People who knew little about horses picked up this terminology as a favourable compliment of appearance. People who did know something about horses went along with it and enjoyed being able to call Phillip horse-faced without being executed for treason.

Another thing that wasn't explained is Britain kicking off argentine inhabitants in Malvinas on 1833. Argentina was actively settling on the islands since 1820, arguably being the first country to do it and that's the main reason for the Malvinas war and the permanent claim from Argentina since then.

@@joepopplewell680 The facts that the anticommunist military junta were a bunch of totalitarians that enjoyed raping and torturing their own civilians and that they were the ones that invaded the islands only for propaganda doesn't change the fact that te UK military performed warcrimes against inexpert conscripts. Everyone knows the ARA Belgrano was outside the conflict zone carrying injured and that there were lots of "KIAs" with just a bullet behind their heads. Those are not factoids.

well, other than the fact that an Exclusion zone only applies to neutral parties meaning the belgrano was a legitimate sinking, and verified by the captain of the belgrano himself as legitimate.

To make the falklands/malvinas problem easier to understand:
-Spain had a claim over the islands due to some treaties that were recognized as valid by many countries including UK.
-UK had a claim over the LEFT island even when they recognized boths as spanish property.
-france reached and colonized the RIGHT side of the islands one year before UK came claiming the left side.
-spain kicked out from the islands boths the french and the british from the islands but the british secretly swore to take them back in the future.
-argentina inherits boths the LEFT & RIGHT islands from spain when it became independant.
-argentina wrote laws for the islands and put in charge a governor, things that the UK never opposed nor protested against but british people in their history books never talks about nor even want to admit that there was an argentine governor there.
-the authorities of the islands arrest some american seal hunters for illegally hunting in the islands.
-U.S attacks the islands due to the argentine government not releasing the arrested american mens and leaves the islands unprotected and without means to fight back in case of invasion.
    - U.K upon seeing argentina in middle of civil wars, wars against indigenous tribes and wars against british invasions seizes the opportunity to invade the islands not only taking the LEFT side but also they take the RIGHT side of the island to which they never had any claim before nor valid excuse to take it.
    - U.K kicks out the argentine authorities and people from the islands the same way they did to the chagos islanders or in the 50s against the argentines and chileans in antarctica which almost ends up in a war.
    - argentina makes claims to get the islands back since the year the invasion took place until 1982 due to a law of the U.N where if you are in control of a piece of land for 150 years uninterrupted you legally became the legal owner and in 1983 it would have been 150 years exactly, argentina being cornered and seeing u.k not wanting to give the islands back peacefully is forced to invade the islands.
-argentina loses the war but managed to be in control of the islands for 5 months reseting the clock and ruining any chances for u.k to legally have full control of the islands.

There are some things to explain about our history:
    - Yes, we had a lot of civil wars, that's because the first ones the main problem was the discussion of the autonomy of the provinces (like states in the US) from the national government (even now is an issue due the economic and political power of Buenos Aires), but the last ones were for political power or for political rights (for example the right for universal and secret vote, yes we had no secret vote until 1916)
    - The Malvinas War (or Falklands War for other people) even if both sides have "reasons", it was a movement Made by the dictatorial government (The Military Junta) because they wanted to hide from the news the social impopularity and the economic crisis (in effort to mantain the power), ando obviusly, when we lost the social unrest was so powerful the dictatorship called for democratic elections.
    - the incident with the pirates from Indonesia was because a man called Hipólito Bouchard was crazy enough to go through the pacific ocean (with the authorization of the government) to explore and help the uprisings and independece movements in other spanish colonies (even he capture the Fort of Los Angeles from Spain for a little time)
    - The reason for being Neutral in second world War is because the government (before 1943) was pro British but the people was pro German, the UK had many investments in Argentina but we made mistakes and the british take advantages from us (if you wan to know read Roca-Runciman Pact) for that kind of things the people support the German, even in Cold War the Peronism adopt a Third Position because wey know wey can take more advantages if USA, USSR (now Russia) and recently China compete for our support un regional and global matters of their interest

One of the Royal Navy vessels had its nuclear weapons transferred by helicopter to Asencion Island in order to not violate a treaty the UK signed with several South American nations.
Also until Ukraine sank the Moskva, The Belgrano was the only flagship sunk since WWII. The UK did it with a submarine.

Fact: People don't realize how big the Aztec Empire REALLY WAS! The Aztecs would eat people.) So when the Spanish Empire came around, the other tribes around the Aztecs decided to fight with the Spanish Empire because they wanted the Aztecs gone. (I might've not explained it well)

the canibalism thing wasn't that common, it was just a ritual thing between priests and high classes. However their constants conquests, flower wars and human sacrifices of prisoners to the gods were enough to other tribes to say "we're done with those bitches, let's support this strangers so we can get rid of the aztecs"

This does not change the fact that there are 50 million kangaroos in Australia, and in Australia there is only 25 million people each person will have to win a 1v2 but let’s face it the children will all lose guaranteed so the Australians are down at least 5.5 million people and each person left will have to fight a third kangaroo. However the Australians are not known for winning wars against animals if the kangaroos start enlisting the Emus then the Australians will surely fall, their country will fall to animals.

the animation does not show what happened in 1833, when the british invaded the malvinas islands, only when spain recovers them and they appear again in 1982 when argentina invaded them. The criollos were expelled but argentina was going through a crisis and could not recover the islands in due time, so they lost them and decades went by, now it is inhabited by the english but they still belong to argentina.
