- I can't believe it took this long to solve my anchor line twisting issue. I thought just buying a SpinRX Swivel Pulley would do it, but I was completely and totally wrong. It solved one issue, but created another one. I hope this helps anyone that has this issue. Here's a link to the SpinRX Swivel Pulley and other things I used:
SpinRx Swivel Pulley - This is the best one on the market:

Thank you I thought I'd wasted $80 bucks. I'm going to fix mine tomorrow.
Me too! Good luck 👍
Thanks so much for posting this. Yesterday was my first time using a new SpinRX and a brand new, longer anchor rope. I use my drift boat on rivers and lakes, yesterday I was on a lake, and after dropping the anchor only 3-4 times in up to 12' of water the system became completely unusable due to rope twist. Today I added a close variant of your system. Less than $10 and 15 minutes of time. Thanks again.
That’s all it took the first time for me too. 4 drops and it never dropped again haha. Glad it helped, good luck out there 👍.
This is exactly the system that I set up on my boat when I bought it. Works flawlessly every time.
You are the man!!! You fixed the problem I've had for many years on my raft. Thank you
I thought I was a genius when I made an anchor with a swivel eye instead of a fixed eye. I'm going to shackle a swivel to my hold end. I'm on Vancouver Island, where we have some great marine hardware suppliers. Thanks Bro. :)
Thank you so much for this - I was getting so sick of line twist with one swivel at the anchor (not fully understanding what was happening to the line) and just went to a single line drop. I use my drift boat in stillwater quite a bit (shallow lakes), and I drop anchor to stay in place when the wind comes up. The issue in the lakes is the anchor works its way into the mud on the bottom, and you have to be the Hulk to pull it up out of the mud sometimes (I have a 30lb anchor). I am going to try this!
This will definitely solve your issue. Good luck 👍
Instead of calling it a double line (it’s a single line) system, use the proper name which is the “two to one” system. For every two feet you pull, you only move the anchor one foot. But you gain mechanical advantage which reduces the tension on the free moving portion of line by half. The other half of the tension is on the terminal line. Your solution to use a swivel sounds good. I think the ultimate solution is to use a different type of line like a core-less fully braided line.
Nick, Excellent explaination,...even better solution! Thanks
Nice job Nick, way to use the old grey matter!
I tried your fixes, Still didnt help my issue. My raft is set up a bit different. Decided to go with a single pull setup.
Had same boat .. same color scheme..
And same anchor system
Sold for jet sled...wish still had it
Yeah I love it. Lot of used ones out there. 👍
good idea ! question for you. were have you get the poly rig for the anchor ? this is nice and look solid brand name if possible also is this a aluminum boat ?
Link for everything is in the description. It’s a fiberglass boat. Hyde XL Low Profile.
Nick, do you think the 2nd swivel would work with the more acute angle? My Clacka anchor drop has a built in loop, that would be a perfect attachment point, for the upper swivel. I think it is by design, for that purpose. But, it's VERY close to the line drop. Thus a very acute rope angle. Thanks!!
Hey Layne, I think I’d need to see a picture first. Think you could link me to one? I’m also on Instagram Alternate1985.
Must be the rope material, I use a black rope no 360 swivel just a ez-pulley with zero twist
Best way is just not to run it a good solid anchor system doesn’t need this “double line system it it twice the work then a good solid single pull
Nah it’s so much easier with a double line.
@ may as well buy a winch
So you’re saying a double line is as good as a winch, and why not just get a winch. Glad we agree a double line is easier 👍
