God bless you girl and hopefully one day we can all break bread and dance together in our own backyards on this soil called the USA. I’m AA and number 3 definitely reminded me of being in church and seeing people who had felt the Holy Spirit start shouting. Notice that the black church is the only church where you will see people shouting just like the dances that the women are doing in the this video. Just goes to show you that no matter where we are scattered across the globe we are all connected spiritually.

Exactly! I’m glad I’m not the only one that sees the connection between black church shouting(especially Pentecostal) and dances from west Africa(specifically number 3 from Senegal).I’m a dude and you don’t usually see men shout in church but very seldom I do and I start dancing just like them in number 3 and my arms start doing the chicken wing thing🤷🏾‍♂️😂I swear there’s some things that really won’t leave our DNA. We really been dancing like this since we left west Africa 400 years ago and that’s really crazy🔥😂

I am apart of the African diaspora (specifically labeled African American, born in raised in Charleston,SC) and I can really feel a connection to many of these dances. The sound and movement lets me know that we (Africans) as a whole are SPIRITUAL people. I automatically feel a spiritual connection - rhythmically. I visited Nigeria in 2017 & I hope to make another trip to several more African countries next year 2021.

I am from Botswana, when I was a little girl I wanted to marry a Maasai warrior. They are so tall and magnetic to look at. I was obsessed with anything from Kenya :) I had a Masai Mara Tshirt, and when it got old and torn my father washed his car with it. I had a meltdown and never forgave him.

We tried for 300+ years to coexist peacefully with Caucasians in America, bro its a wrap and its time to go. Charge all we have done here to the game and let's get the hell out of here.

For the past week, I have been obsessed with traditional dances from all cultures and tribes. If any of my black American brothers and sisters are here, and you feel some type of way when hearing and watching these dances it is because of the beat of the drums. Yes, the words are beautiful but the beat of the drums is in our D.N.A, do you ever wonder why the dances like the Electric slide or any line dance makes us run to the dance floor? Dancing in rhythm/ in formation with a group is in our D.N.A.

This....these traditions and dances and the music....it's beautiful...soul calling. I know I'm of European descent, but that doesn't mean that the various traditions of Africa, the evolutionary birthplace of humankind isn't hauntingly beautiful... Watching and listening to this, as well as ancient traditions of other cultures, instills a sense of both longing and belonging at the same time. It makes one wonder how the world would be if we, those of us of European descent hadn't focused so hard on conquering the world but instead sought to learn about our fellow humans. It's....sad...to say the least...

The Sabar dance (#3 from Senegal/Gambia) is surely & truly animated & for the energetic people. Interesting video.
This video reminds me of our rich cultural values in Africa which we are busy trying to throw out & replace with western world traditions.
I am now looking forward to our own traditional ceremonies very soon here in Zambia. The Kuomoka & Nc'wala Ceremonies.
