    Nice Video! Is this Drop C Tuning? If yes, did you replace the default strings and did you have to file the nut or change something else?

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you! This is drop C tuning. Good catch. I bought the guitar through Evertune’s online store, and I actually paid a little extra to have them set the guitar up in drop C with 11-52 strings, so unfortunately I’m not sure if they had to file the nut. I would assume they did since these guitars come stock with 9-42, but I don’t really know for sure. I do know that I was able to keep the bridge stock to achieve drop C with that 11-52 string gauge, so I didn’t have to pay for their high/low tension saddles.

    Hi! Great Vid, got a question for you, I have the LTD EC-1000vb without evertune, I tune my guitar in drop A and have some issues getting the correct tune, it sounds fine but not perfect, the note tends to oscillate, did you try a low tuning? Does the evertune works fine for that?

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much!
      I haven’t personally tuned this guitar to anything aside from drop C, BUT I do think the evertune would be useful for your situation. If you have the necessary string gauge/tension for a particular tuning (you can confirm this on Evertune’s website), you can actually set the strings so they don’t go out of tune no matter how hard you pick, but the trade off is you cannot easily bend the string to change the pitch I’ve seen people use Evertune to tune a standard 25.5 scale guitar to drop F and they are able to do it with no pitch problems because of this ability to “dial in” the amount of pitch variation you want.
      I hope that helps, and thank you so much for watching!

      @SethSilvaMusic  2 роки тому +1

      Just noticed your comment here answered the question I asked you on my other video. Thanks for the comments and watching the videos btw. I really appreciate it.
      I actually haven’t changed string gauges on this guitar. When I ordered it from Evertune, I had them set it up with 11-52 strings in drop C, and I haven’t changed it from that. From my own previous research though, I would think if you changed gauge/tuning, you might have to adjust the setup a hair to compensate. At minimum, you’d need to adjust the saddles for the new string tension, then likely also adjust the intonation.
      I hope that helps. Sorry its not necessarily coming from a place of direct experience, as this is my first/only experience with the Evertune and I haven’t really had to mess with it all that much.

    Eclipse BB is one of my dream guitar from ESP. When I get one, I will change the pickup to passive one. Because I already have guitar with 81 85. Thing is brushed aluminum cover on those EMG fit really well with the aesthetic of the guitar. Yet, I'll be using passive pickup with black bobbin. If my choice of pickups are correct, I'll be having guitar with nice sound but less beautiful than the original.

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much. I guess the answer to your question would largely depend on what type of guitars you like the look/feel of. Given how much I’ve enjoyed this guitar, I feel like LTD’s 2021 1000 series would be a safe bet since you get some cool spec for less than $1500. Never tried the Fishman Moderns/Classics, but the other guitars in this series seem to use those and by all accounts they are a bit more versatile than the EMGs used in this guitar. I’ve had pretty decent experiences with Schecter in the past as well, but its been a few years since I’ve tried one under $1500. If you don’t care about stainless steel frets or aftermarket pickups, the PRS SE line are also pretty solid as well, but you may decide to upgrade electronics, the nut, and/or the tuners down the line. Sorry if all this seems broad/general for the moment. I hesitate to get more specific without knowing exactly what sort of things you’re into as I don’t want to give a bad recommendation.

      @@SethSilvaMusic Thanks for the detailed reply. I've decided to sell one of my basses so my budget now extends up to $3k or so. I'm mainly into 90s alt rock (Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, AIC) bit of hard rock (QOTSA, Zeppelin etc.) though I also dig Blues, jazz and metal every once in awhile (Opeth, Lamb of God, Mastodon mainly). So I guess the guitar has to be pretty versatile. Any advice appreciated thanks!

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 роки тому +1

      If you like this LTD, or single cuts in general, and are looking to spend more, i think you could get what your wanting out of one of the E-II eclipses, so long as you get one without the EMG 81/60. Haven’t played one myself, but if its a better quality version of this, then that’d be a sweet guitar.
      I’m a big fan of Music Man guitars, and with that budget, you could afford quite a bit of their offerings. The Stingray is a guitar I’ve seen used in a lot of genres, and the pickups have a sound that works well for plenty of styles, even though its a pretty straightforward guitar.
      Similarly, you might want to check out a PRS CE24. The bolt on gives it a bit more snap like something in the Fender camp, but the short scale and dual humbuckers give you some thickness to the sound.
      More on the budget side, since you mentioned Smashing Pumpkins, the Reverend Billy Corgan is a pretty cool guitar that isn’t too expensive if you can find one. The electronics in that guitar make it versatile enough to do clean and more aggressive stuff.
      Hope any of that helps. Obviously, if you can try any of these out, it would help figure out if they’re right for you/your needs. Or just buy a guitar somewhere with a generous return policy.

      I’ve been wanting a Jackson Bulb since their announcement, so that’s awesome. What color/pickups are in yours? At this point, I’m a stainless steel diehard, so a guitar has to be particularly special for me to get it without stainless steel frets. I don’t think i fret to terribly hard, but I have had some guitars that required fretwork much sooner than I would’ve liked, and i’m not comfortable enough to do that work myself. Hence, stainless steel stops the problem before it happens. Or its a darn good placebo. Either way, i’m in too deep.

I definitely still prefer them over the 81/60 by a lot, but they still have enough of the “EMG” feel to where I really only like the way they play with certain tones. You can somewhat tweak the amount of tension depending on what zone you are in with the Evertune, but I still don’t feel like this is a crazy high tension bridge. Feel wise it’s more similar to something like a Floyd, but bear in mind this guitar is a 24.75 inch scale so it’s inherently a little slinkier than 25.5. I’ve never played the Phoenix myself, but looking at specs the Phoenix has a few more tonal options than the BB since it comes with the Fishman Fluence pickups. I personally prefer the shorter scale of the EC-1000, but the Phoenix seems to give you a little bit more flexibility for the money. It really boils down to personal preference. @SethSilvaMusic  Рік тому

      Evertune is a tension based system so there are some limitations in what you can tune to with the stock saddle with any particular string gauge. They have a tension calculator on their website where you can plug in a string gauge and the note you want to tune to to double check, but really, if you are going for a tuning that is VERY difficult, it is a good idea to swap string gauges anyway.

This tune was mostly heavily inspired by bands/songs from the 2000’s/2010’s just because when I was writing metalcore music, those were my biggest influences. The new stuff takes heavy cues from modern progressive metal, and I love some of that too, I’m just not the best at writing songs like that myself.

    I would prefer the 57TW on the bridge but still a magnificent guitar.

      I actually have another video on my channel where I did put the 57/66TW set in this guitar. It was definitely an improvement. Thanks for watching and for your comment! It really helps

    I like the silver black more than the black gold ec 1000. Canada doesn’t have much options for guitars man.

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  2 роки тому

      I agree with your preference. Black/Gold looks good on the LP Customs, but with this EC-1000 The silver helps distinguish it from those.
      Sorry you're missing out on options in Canada. Did you guys not get the full lineup of the 2021 1000 series? I always thought Canada and the USA were similar in guitar offerings since they're on the same continent.

    This ec 1k vs. Gibson tribute??

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  2 роки тому

      I haven’t played a Gibson Tribute in a long time, but the EC-1000 is definitely more feature-packed so I’d probably go with it. That said, if you need something more classic sounding, the Tribute would be better.
