Very helpful. Confirmed what a lot of other Mini SE reviewers get. I'd keep it in Mid range (or Sport) for the most part but this shows that if I was in a pinch the car has farther range just by driving in Green mode, high gen, & little lower speeds. Wonder what Green+ mode would have rendered under the same circumstances? Inquiring minds want to know.
So as a city car, at city speeds, the mini has more than enough range. Who"d a thunk it :) Seriously though, that is very efficient around town. 15km more than the most lenient wltp range. Makes EPA look a little flat. I do understand that as the speed incrreases, the efficiency decreases in evs, but for around town that should be more than enough for almost anyone. Guess BMW got it right after all. Well done, and thanks for this video. Keep it up.
I think that if you keep it around 40 to 60km/h, you’ll get a really good range out of it. When you go above that, I think that it either creates more drag or the engine just requires a lot more exponential power to maintain that speed.
@@PrimorisOrdo Totally agree, the power require to overcome drag is proportional to speed cubed, so that doubling the speed means 8 times more power. At slow speeds, drag is minimal, and the low weight of the mini means that less power is required for any given acceleration. Keeping up with the traffic doesn't use anywhere near the maximum acceleration/power, so power used is inversely proportional to weight - double the weight, double the power needed to accelerate at the same rate. A city car should be small (low frontal area for low drag), and light (less power to accelerate). The mini ticks both boxes :)
This isn't real life driving though. This is only focusing on using as little energy as possible for as long as possible, nobody drives like that. It shows what can be achieved and is certainly a lesson in how we could all improve our driving by slowing down.
Most of the motoring journalists in 🇬🇧 drive the press cars like complete twats, I never seen a single one of them match the mileage which consumers manage to get from their own cars, I’ve a vw golf gte plug in and regularly achieve mid 90’s mpg petrol equivalent, over 100 is achievable. Every journalist review i’ve seen claims the best combined for the gte⚡️⛽️ is in the mid 50’s or maybe mid 60’s mpg.
Sorry but this doesn't show anything. Even my 75 yr old father drives more fluently then you did. You were practically holding up all traffic (just looking at all the cars that passed you by). This must have been the dullest ride you have ever done. If you use the car as the fun car it's meant to be, even in and around town, you won't get much more then about 180kms out of that battery. That's what I had after a slower, but still fun, ride around town.
Especially for you I counted number of cars I pass or they passed me. Every, EVERY from 61 cars faster than me overtook me when I had 55-60 on limit 50 or ~65 on 60 limit. I overtook around 12 cars during first 3 and half minutes of this movie. So tell my: why should I drive much faster than speed limits and why should I show it on the movie?
That has got to be the worst comment I’ve ever seen this guy was showing people the mileage on an average drive on an average day I think you must be looking for what this mini can do around the Nurburgring and that’s not what it was built for it’s for the average city driver so go and give your head a wobble
1001cars He is probably an American thinking that he can do 90 inside a city. But this looks like a European city and it is literally impossible to go any faster than this anyway. You would probably have to kill a few people to go any faster than that. Unless you’re in an extreme hurry, this was a pretty standard drive.
Keep it up ! Very informative as always !
Thank you for just a helpful video. I’m glad you’ve made it to the charging point.

Brilliant thanks my partner just ordered one
Love this, thank you
thank you, perfect video :)
Wow. Great test. Great car.
11:35 nice

What driving mode and regen mode were you in?
Green (it is visible on the movie...) and higher regeneration mode (usually)
1001cars Just wanted to confirm. Thanks!

Tell me: why should I drive MUCH faster than speed limits? You didn't watch this movie

No wonder world 🌍 is fighting right now
