- Underrated track from the best PJ album, used some images of the soundcheck, and the official audio released from the band.
Dave A. carries this song and was the driving force behind their immaculate sound in this era. Anything that they played sounded tight and amazing bc of Dave's drumming. He was such a gifted composer of drum parts. He always knew the energy and character of a song.
so true
he stole this groove from matt's jesus christ pose... just slower and with snare wire off
@@husinalbasrimansor3331 That's a stretch man. Not taking anything away from JCP, but Dave's groove in WMA has more tom work and swings completely differently. Funny thing is Matt currently play Dave's grooves in PJ at breakneck speeds
Today I got to watch Dave Abbruzzese play drums on WMA. Today is a great day.
Yesss waiting for that time for so long !!!!!
His drums were the heart in my opinion.
@@westleighsealy8559 Not sped up like Matt Cameron. Cameron should not be allowed to play WMA...
The significance of this whole thing is not lost at all in the moment. A song about police brutality, 30 years ago. Performed in Atlanta, GA, with the lead singer from King's X, an African-American singer whose band came from Texas. On the Eve of Easter. As Eddie said, "tomorrow morning, look in your history books and figure out why it's an important day to remember." This is a powerful moment on many levels. Most of which is the message isn't always the last truth, it's the blueprint for better life.
I know this band is not religious, but the message was as close as it gets to here lies the hypocrisy. Do better unto each other. Persists that struggle 30 years later
April 4th was the day MLK was assassinated.
Nothing to do with Easter. Read a history book.
THE BEST PJ DRUMMER
We won the lottery with this version
All these years I could not understand how that song was possible with only one drummer. Now I know….
The drums in this song are perfect. I often wonder how different PJ would be if Dave hadn’t been sacked. :(
Not trying to hate on Matt, in fact I really kie his drumming on SG, but I really think they would be a better band!
@@adrianoa.j.5788 My thoughts as well…. I also love his drumming in SG; the first SG song I ever heard (besides Black Hole Sun) was Jesus Christ Pose
It’s funny, I’ve never been much a fan of Abbruzzese (ii prefer Irons and Krusen as drummers, Irons in PJ and Krusen in Hovercraft) and I was always incredibly impressed by Matt Cameron’s drumming and technical and artistic chops in Soundgarden, but Abbruzzese is just better suited to PJ than Cameron.
Matt had the SG sound in Pearl Jam. Dave took the Pearl Jam sound with him. It was never the same.
@@julioruiz3826 took it with him. Very well put.
Eddies voice was so unique and raw back then
The best version of WMA ever. Also the best version of Release ever opened this show. The legendary Atlanta '94. Best PJ show ever. Period.
Yep. Raw, real, reckless abandon they say. Their best albums, their best playing, their best setlist, the best show and it’s not close. Eddie did the dj set after which was icing on the cake
#2. Tivoli 92 #1.
Hell yeah 🤘 Only Pearl Jam show I ever caught. Still a top five show for me 30 years later. Might just have to catch them again on the next tour.
I was at this show. Broadcast Live by 99X in Atlanta. Unreal show!
99x is back on 100.5...
Actually, it was broadcast live worldwide by the band themselves.
SEEING THIS WITH MY EYES IS SURREAL.
Dave A. featuring Pearl Jam
TOTALLY AWESOME SONG!! LOVE MY PEARL JAM #1 IN MY BOOK! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO 😊 🩷 🤟 ✌️
Badass combo . I love kings X
EDDIE IN HIS PRIME
DAVE THE PEARL JAM DRUMMER.
What gets me every time I hear W.M.A., is “ Jesus greets me, looks just like me..” . ..And I use to think actually or metaphorically as in unwieldy in their positions of their mentalities so much so that Death, could greet them and if they didn’t want to they wouldn’t and couldn’t be moved , bent or swayed to agree come Hell or high waters.. Now I think I have no doubts that when he says “ Jesus, greets me, looks just like me..” that it is a truth .
I always thought it was alluding to Jesus being pictured as white when in reality he would’ve been a brown skinned middle eastern jew. The hypocrisy and racism programmed into society.
Totally awesome video!! Incredible performance of WMA!! Thank you for sharing this awesome video 😊💓🤘✌️
Cobain died two days after this..
My thought exactly….
C’mon this is SICK!!!!
Dave A added so much to early on sound 🩷
The invisible crowd make a lot of noise.
People really love Pearl Jam, even ghosts do.
Looks like footage from rehearsals to the famed Atlanta broadcast.
@@markmclawhorn9592 exactly right 👍
W i c k e d. ♥️
Some say DA only added a brief footnote to Pearl Jam history. I disagree. No one can argue that Pearl Jam sounder better with Jack or Matt...This performance is testament to that statement...
Freaking awesome!
This is an incredible look back in time. Great work matching the different audio.
You rarely see VHS matched up with sound board audio. Real mind fuck for us
old timers LOL. For me Vitalogy was their peak. But VS vs Vitalogy is a toss up.
Both incredible albums. And credit where due. Sure not every studio album from
them was a masterpiece. But theres far better stuff than crap. I put PJ up there
with Rush in terms of long term success. Same for The Stones. VERY few do it.
Thanks for the nice words! VS is a grunge masterpiece for me, but Vitalogy is as good as it can get, and yeah it's really to see them 30 years later still going strong.
@@adrianoa.j.5788 I hear you. As tech of all sorts I really do give you props on the syncing and editing you did to make this video. People who dont do such work have no idea how hard it can be. These days everything is digital with embedded time coding. In terms of the 90s grunge scene I have to give props to Alice In Chains. Not sure anyone can top that sound. Plus their Unplugged album was a masterpiece as well. So many great unplugged sessions. Probably the best thing MTV did for music. I still have no idea why they haven't issued the SRV session? Another band I feel was king in the 90s was Sound Garden. IMO SuperUnknown was a perfect album. I know I view the 90s rock scene with my own rose colored glasses. But I firmly believe it was a re-birthing of the rock music scene. But time moves on and new rock sounds are born. Look at Queens of the Stone Age and Songs for the Deaf. A new rock sound thats awesome as well. I could go on LOL
@@daveme3582 it was a really job synching all that footage, and actually, my favorite rock band of all time is Soundgarden!
@@adrianoa.j.5788 Soundgarden was fucking incredible. Same goes for Audio Slave. What a power group. Was completely shocked when Cornell took his life. He seemed to have a life completely together. Just looked at your page. So happy to see your a fellow Blind Melon fan. Their self titled Debut album is another perfect album. Possibly one of best debut rock albums to come out of the 90s. So crazy how No Rain was the hit off it. And imo the weakest track on the album. It reminds me how Dire Straits most popular mainstream album is Brothers in Arms and imo its their worst album. I also see your a Primus fan. Simply amazing band. You and me are also fans of Dillinger Escape Plan. Very not mainstream band LOL. Ire Works is a fav of mine. Im guessing your not here in the states by your videos. These days I listen to damn near everything. Jazz, Blues, Classical, vintage Country. After graduating high school I bought a copy of Bill Evans Waltz for Debby and went down the rabbit hole of all music. Im crazy LOL
@@daveme3582 Yeah man! Primus, Dillinger, Blind Melon are awesome bands!! Salling The Seas of Cheese, Soup, and the self-titled, Miss Machine are bangers! and I live in Brazil btw, I've been to the U.S.A. only once back in 2017, it was awesome!
Apr 3, 1994 - Kurt Cobain Apr 5, 1994
Love the Fox
WOW! This is the best!
2 days before kurt will took his own life 😢
I'm not really a pearl jam fan but King's X makes this more enjoyable.
Awesome who’s the other singer joining Ed for this?
He's in a band called "King's X"
His name is Doug Pinnick ua-cam.com/users/douglaspinnick
Wow, Eddie can't sing like this anymore!
I don't think I've ever wanted to strangle a camera man more...
DAVE A
The theater looks empty?
Video is from the soundcheck
@@adrianoa.j.5788 oh that’s a relief. I was getting frog and toad flashback.
Why did they fire Dave A
He didn’t get along with Ed. Dave liked being a rock star.
@sklegg they were all rock stars!!! Eddie was on stage with Beyonce. That's the most sellout rock star thing you could do!!!
@@MatthewWilliams-h7m the band had rules (no groupies, no drugs, etc). Dave didn't follow the rules to whatever extent and got kicked out. It's a shame. I would say that he got a bit arrogant about his talent and thought the rules didn't apply to him, but that's my own speculation
i am sorry but you need to retitle this video with sound check cuse at the moment pearl jam is the only people with the video footage of this live show and brodcast video wise but the full soundcheck is up in video form just not the whole show it will confuse people well it did me so
if you could that would be awsome
I wasn't confused one bit
Dave > Matt, any day of the week
dave stole the groove from matt... its basically jesus christ pose but played slower
And no one to blame Dave for speeding the song and ruining "the groove/vibe"
Hypocrites
This is reason why he was ousted. Too big for band(Dave)Too bad, pj would have created better material with him.
Dave Abbruzzese! Nuff said!
Yup
fantastic drum sound!
Good God Ed's voice 😮
Best show they did
King's X está de más. Cero aporte.
