    Do you rather use this or have an adapter for the BMW plug?

    • @andrewc7451

      so I cant just buy an adapter for the built in plug? have not found anything online about it. I would rather use the plug in the "tank cover", yes .

      +Angus Steven yes you can buy an adapter, but it's kind of bulky

    Gervais I correct. I am speaking from experience. Couldn't figure out why my batter was dead after sitting for several days. then I traced it back to the USB plug. I now just plug it into the little plug you showed in the video when I want to charge something. I unplug it when it sits in the garage.

    I agree that a switch is mandatory.
    another small remark, I would advise to remove the ground then hook up the plus and lastly hook back the ground as if you leave the ground attached the plus may close a circuit with any other metal and create a short circuit.
    as always, very nicely done.

      +Nadav Haim I guess I need to make a video about adding a switch to it. 😁

    Personally prefer not to use any charging accessories connected directly to the battery. Firstly, it may unexpectedly drain your battery, secondly, jumps of power during engine starts may damage your phone or anything you may charge. I prefer to charge a power bank with 20000 mah and use it during the day independently of motorcycle's power. If you travel simply charge your power bank every night during your stops in hotels. I would use shown system in emergency cases only.

    Hey Albe, love the videos... but any USB converters draw power even if nothing is plugged into it. This will drain your battery just for sitting there. You may want to either add a switch or add a relay and connect the control side to accessory power (like the GPS power connector you have under the "tank" cover). I'd hate for you to get stranded because of a dead battery. Since you already have an SAE, you can use this - a.co/eO2LYSF - and disconnect it when not in use.

      +Gervais Albert right now I ride daily, so not enough time to drain the battery, but next week I'll leave the bike parked and check how long will it take to drain the battery and if it's worth to add a switch to it.

      Check the Amazon reviews of the kit you bought and one person mentions that his battery was drained in 3 days. There was no mention of which bike it was, so battery capacity is not known, but just something you'll want to keep an eye on.

      +Gervais Albert will do thanks for the tip, I would hate to get stranded somewhere.

    Albe, can you tell us what happen after several rainy days? It still remains waterproof or you can see oxidized things inside the USB plug?
    Thank you!!!

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  7 років тому

      +KIM Marcelo so far so good, no oxidation yet, we had a few rainy days here in California and I sprayed with a hose to make sure it wasn't leaking right after installation

    What rissers for the handlebars are you using? Maybe a link from where you bought them?
    Thanks!!

      Hi Agustin, it's not risers, it's the bracket that came with the Scotts steering damper

    id still add a fuse and would have cut off all that excess.

      @AlbesADV  7 років тому +1

      +sctpc the fuse is already built in on it.

    Hi, thanks for the video. I have installed similar USB charger directly to the battery. But when I use it to charge iPhone with navigation app in use, it charges with insufficient current and the iPhone battery still dies (although more slowly). Have any of you have similar problem? Is it the issue of insufficient power of generator?
    Thanks again

      My iPhone was able to actually charge while using various apps, but that was an iPhone se, now my galaxy s8 just maintains the charge, neither charges or discharges, but if I’m not using any apps and with the screen off it charges very slowly.

    Hi, Albe. I have just bought an F800GS 2016, and started watching your youtube channel. Very good with tips. However, I can not find the power cable at the handlebar as seen in the video at 0.54 min. Do you know if it's available on a 2016?

    • @AlbesADV
      @AlbesADV  7 років тому

      +Börje Johansson I'm not sure if it's a dealer installed option, all the bikes I've seen here in California have it. If not, it's a pretty cheap and easy mod to add.

      Ok. I will ask at my local BMW dealer. Thanks for your time.

    Albe Delivers again. I almost bought one of those awkward Din to USB things but it sticks up out of the bike. Ordering this kit today. I am thinking a horn upgrade is a good idea if your trying to wake up somebody who is texting or get someones attention if your stuck on a trail. This horn is pretty interesting because it has regular and take a crap level sound. Also it causes the high beam to flicker rapidly so when someone looks to see what the noise is then they see the light also and maybe will get out of the way. There are some other choices like the Fiam's and Stebel's. Check this one out. screaming-banshee.com/products/banshee-horn
