For anyone curious, here are the frequency bands it supports (as sold in Vietnam, at least). Keep in mind, VoLTE isn't guaranteed, even if it supports the bands for your carrier. 4G (LTE) bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20, 28, 40 3G (UMTS A.K.A. WCDMA) bands: 1 (2100 mhz) & 8 (900 mhz) 2G (GSM) bands: 3 (1800 mhz) & 8 (900 mhz)
Cloud apps have a more modern browser underneath. The URL shortcut will open in the outdated opera mini. With cloud apps, it’s like having a better web engine to run the service on the cloud.
I tried with US Mobile AT&T SIM and it worked for 2G, but no VoLTE so far. I'll keep testing in a wider range next week. Currently testing another interesting device ;)
@@JoseBriones2G on AT&T? AT&T shut down their 2G many years ago. I assume you mean 2G on a T-Mobile SIM? It would make sense that VoLTE wouldn't work on T-Mobile due to bands.
@@JoseBrionesOr, I guess the other possibility is that you live in an area with one of those small "rural" 2G providers still operating; however, I didn't think US Mobile roamed.

very interesting approach. I would really love if HMD got this so whatsapp could work on their phones again
I am hoping that WhatsApp comes to cloud apps soon. it would be very helpful for the brand and for it to be used as a communication tool
Yes it is an essential app. It should be available in the near future.
Finally a decent review. Thank you! I'm actually wanting to get this mainly because of the Wifi hotspot feature.
So cloud apps are like browser shortcuts, but they have their own designated 'browser'?
Interesting phone lad. Great little critique. Thanks man.
Wow hotspot too? I hope the HMD phones get that too especially if it’s in one of their smaller devices like the 105 or 110!
What is the difference between Cloud Apps and a regular URL Bookmark/Shortcut ?
Cloud apps have a more modern browser underneath. The URL shortcut will open in the outdated opera mini. With cloud apps, it’s like having a better web engine to run the service on the cloud.
How do you order it though? The link you gave only gives Pakistan as a Shipping option when you checkout......
Can you add new cloud apps, or are those only pre-installee?
They are preinstalled as of now. No way to add them so far.
@JoseBriones thank you!
Jose, does this get data and/or VoLTE with an AT&T MVNO in your area? From what I've found it may support LTE band 5 on some versions.

@@JoseBrionesAlso looking forward to this new, interesting device 😯.

I don't expect it to work reliably, since no networks in Vietnam is using LTE band 5.
The carriers are using bands 1, 3, 8 and 41
After using the plum phone I prefer ThreadX over KaiOS.

No

Mono audio
Did it only go into one earbud? That's odd. It should have been stereo for sure.

Just retested. It exported wrong. My bad.
How are Cloud Apps different then a URL/Bookmark shortcut?
