I would think twice on the Durango. My wife had one , had a split AC unit on it that never worked right had it at the dealer under warranty 4 times they could never get it to cool correctly, went threw several crankshaft sensors, transmission cooler busted on the inside of the radiator destroyed the transmission. The intake is that hard plastic it cracked they said due to heat none to be had in the united states so I had to get one at the junk yard , then after that the dang thing blew a head gasket fixed that and sold the dang thing. Can't say I liked them. Also the water pump on them runs backward to the way most are and the thermostat is on the bottom radiator hose. I liked the looks of them and had good pulling power but I feel that I worked on it way to much.
If they end up with the ZF 8 speed transmission, I think it would be a home run. My 2 previous vehicles had the ZF and they were by far the best transmission I’ve used. Makes my 68RFE feel like a complete turd. Hopefully the heavier duty version is the same quality.
@VBELTandSON what do you think about the 8 speed transmission. With the long stroke and the 2 pound coffee can pistons the 8 speed should be perfect. Dodge has always been backwards speed diesel 6 speed gas then 8 speed gas and 6 speed diesel. Gas has a higher rev limits. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
