I think Amazon should focus on giving it a personality. Yes it’s got the practical aspect of surveillance, but as there doesn’t really seem to any other practical things it can do they’d be better off focusing on making it a companion bot, which would be a lot more doable. It’s great that it can follow you around & they’ve given it cute little sounds & expressions, now they need to develop some subtle ways for it to interact with their owner - like for example knowing their owners routine & waiting at the front door to greet them when they return home.
Yeah, it's not going to be able to do much, task wise, so they should focus on the things it can do, like being a good companion/pet. Maybe marry it with some of that motivational software like finch.
Thanks for the initial review. I have a couple of questions about self-navigation. 1. Can you ask Astro to go to a specific pre-programmed spot such as the stove or do you need to remotely drive Astro there? 2. When Astro is stationary, will it "retreat" if someone is walking towards it? I'm thinking of the case where an elderly person might trip over it like a pet in an unexpected location on the floor? 3. Can Astro go to the last know location of a person or search the home looking for a person?
I love consumer robots …I have a robot lawn mower (5 years now). It is absolutely superb - uses about $30Per year in electricity.and the lawn is always perfect. Like a bowling green . Furthermore it mulches the lawn and returns all the nutrients back into the soil to feed the lawn. The lawn has never been healthier and it’s completely organic no chemicals no pesticides no herbicides and looks amazing. The electric motor It’s so quiet compared to a petrol (gas) and it is almost silent so it doesn’t annoy the neighbours. Also there are no poisonous fumes. And there is no labour involved. And no running around to mow the lawn before visitors arrive. I’m amazed more people don’t get them If you have a lawn and you are currently paying someone to mow for you , you will save yourself thousands of dollars if you buy one of these machines.
Husqvarna made or used to make robot lawn mowers. Other companies have tried it too. They're very expensive for what they're able to do. Did you have to stake down barrier wires to keep it from killing plants you want to live? Or from mowing the driveway? Or from potentially mowing the dog's pen/yard? I believe these aren't that bright. More like a Roomba with a string mower attachment. The biggest problem with these is they're prone to being stolen.
@@ChatGPT1111 Sounds weird though, volunteers paying. Weirder still, it's invite only. What’s the point of it? Does it vacuum your floors? If it’s just to bring you drinks someone still has to get up, walk to the kitchen and put the drink in the robot. Or is this a prototype to replace waiters?

Yes, Astro, take us to the kitchen because we don't know where it is! My Robot vacuum cleaner knows the house from day one and it even cleans it up. This thing is just too high maintenance for the service it offers. Thank you for showing us how bad it is.
