Pixy is probabbly one of the best characters if not the best of AC series, and the most human one, he was your wingman, seeking glory and a name as a mercenary, saw the horrors of the war, he wanted to change the world by believing what he did was right, and he survived, living regretting about what he fought for. "It may be true that the world has no need of borders, but would getting rid of them really change anything? The world won't change for the better unless we trust people. Trust is vital in a peaceful world. But that'll never happen..." That's not only a critic about how are things in Strangereal... but also in our world, and how we are as humans... damn...
@@shaftoe195 I think that's something you can see everyday. Is not only on war, it happens everytime. People lying, people killing themselves. Always like that.
Ace Combat, at its core, has a lot of really profound messages about war and conflict buried in it, all told through the lens of the most batshit insane franchise known to man. "I should've died that day, but I didn't. I dragged my wounded body and reached Ground Zero of the nuclear detonations... A barren, empty land... It may be true that the world has no need of borders, but would getting rid of them really change anything? The world won't change for the better unless we trust people. Trust is vital in a peaceful world. But that'll never happen... I'm still on the front line, and right now I'm near a border. I want to see for myself what borders really mean, and what their volition really is. I may not find what I'm looking for, but I still want to try. 31:10 The Demon Lord of the Round Table, a warrior who soared through the Belkan War, inspiring both fear and admiration. His presence filled the skies for but a few short months before he disappeared. Apart from that, nothing is known about him. I was never able to find out what kind of a person he really was. But whenever they talked about him, they always had a slight smile on their faces. That, perhaps, may be my answer.
I've always thought that the reason Mobius one was so skilled, why they appeared seemingly from nothing and for seemingly no reason fought with ISAF a few short years later, was that they were Cypher. That following the battle at Avalon Dam, the words of his buddy stuck with him. So when the ISAF came to him, desperate for something, anything, to stop Erusia? He sighed and realized that he did have a reason to involve himself. That's why the ISAF trusted him to go on his own, and why he never wanted a squadron or wing-man. No one who went through what Cypher did would want to be hurt, by treachery or them dying on him again. The only people who might have told the ISAF where Cypher was were the reporter or Larry himself. I like to think that our buddy looked at the war and decided to send them to Cypher, because whatever Cypher's answer, it'd tell him if his buddy had found something worth fighting for. It explains why ISAF had faith in him, and why every detail about Mobius 1 is so well concealed. They knew to respect his privacy after all he had done. It would explain why Mobius one came back TWICE to stop Free Erusia, and could actually pull it off both times. It would also mean there were two times in his life that Cypher received meaningful letters (in a sense) once from a boy who wanted him to know the man he shot down didn't begrudge him that victory or want him to feel guilty, and once from his old buddy, who wanted the same. Someone with so many kills on their record would need that resolution.
It's kind of sad when you think about Mobius One fighting all those fights alone not because that's what he was best at, but because the only two pilots he'd ever have as his wingmen were gone.
I think it's what makes that image so compelling to me. It ties things together neatly and gives Mobius one something to him other than 'bestist evar' as I've heard it termed. Plus I can't help but smile at the image of Cypher putting the tape of Larry's letter via reporter to him into a box, then opening it up and watching it again when the kid's letters arrive. Putting them together. Imagine finding a box in your grandfather's attic with a VHS tape and some letters in it, and that's what's inside.
I can imagine pixy looking up and sees cyphers plane and looks at Avalon and thinks “guess he did find out what he’s fighting for after all” and then looks back at his plane “and I guess I didn’t know” and cypher looks down in a badly damaged f15c at pixy crash site thinking “why did it come to this buddy” and looks forward “he’s right about one thing though I don’t see any borders up here just snow, death, and mountains and all for what resources, territory, or dominance damnit this all could’ve been avoided guess there’s no point in dwelling on it now. It’s finished and that’s what matters but I feel like I’m the monster of the story maybe I am maybe I’m jsut a lowlife a mercenary who done this for money or maybe I’m a soldier fighting for my county or maybe just maybe I’m a hero who’s doing right and justice but can’t see that.Time will tell and whatever the truth is Il accept no matter the story’s say other wise” hears radio “Galm1 your clear to land welcome home and you did us all proud” cypher opens landing gear “or maybe just maybe I’m just fighting for what I want to believe” lands “I don’t know if that’s truth or false it doesn’t matter what matters is millions will sleep peaceful and will continue to and if I’m gone I knwo some one out there will keep doing what I started”
This is what I imagine Cipher's monologue to be after the duel against Pixy... Maybe he's hoping for someone to continue his legacy(Mobius 1, in AC04 does something similar, as an ISAF soldier). Pixy fighting for ISAF in Delarus seems probable as the timing somewhat matches(maybe a month or 2 off) the events of AC4...
