You seem so happy with the switch up of content, even when it’s literally about potty training. I’m excited to see you play around and figure out what works for you. It’s amazing how much your world changes because of your kids, and how much they end up teaching you as the parent.
One thing we did for potty training was that once they were steadily sitting up (9-ish months), we’d sit them on the potty with a seat like yours for a couple minutes before bath time. Eventually they would randomly go potty and we would cheer for them. When they got more consistent, that was another sign for us that they were ready.
Different kids have different struggles, and as ours grew up, we got more information about their neurodiversity (our adhd kids had way more accidents than our other kids, and the autistic kids struggled with poop/constipation more because of that sensory experience.)
Thank you so much! I am excited to switch things up!
And wow! That's interesting!!
None of the "methods" worked for us. Each of our three kids was completely different. You're doing great Mamma! Potty training isn't for the faint of heart!
Just wi love that you made this from YOUR perspective and didn’t exploit your child ❤
My kids are 21, 19, 14 and 7. Yet I watched this whole video 😂 This was cool and you were still super informative and entertaining outside of your hair content. I am going to forward this to my niece, who is going to start potty training her son soon.
Courtney, thanks for sharing this! This is so great! I followed you before I was even married and now I'm a mother and this content is so applicable! Loving getting a glimpse into your mom life. Thanks for sharing! 🎉
Great to see you here, Courtney! So THIS is your “shift”! Many thanks for all the content you create! Love your T shirts too!
I feel like we get pressured into potty training our kids in such strict ways that just aren't necessary for all. My 2 got there when they were ready, no matter what I did. Pull-ups, underwear, diapers, didn't matter, when they got it and understood, it was done, not beforehand.
YAY! Truly an accomplishment :) Love seeing any of your videos, Courtney!
First: I’m a pediatric nurse (and hopefully mom one day!) so I love getting to watch other methods and successes (even fails! Because that’s how we learn). Loving all of your new content!
Great new content! Glad the method worked for her. I think she was really ready.
Congratulations you two🎉❤. I can’t believe she is a toddler already 🥹It just seems like she was born only a month ago. Your fur baby is so cute. I love when they do things they are proud of and you just have laugh❤
It's crazy how time gets away! And thank you!! They are funny like that when they get all proud of themselves!
I don't even have children but watched this video to see your shining face! 😁Congrats on potty training being a success. 👍
I'm loving this style of video! Your dog reminds me of my dog getting dirty from anything! Love the vlog showing your experience it really helps alot of people!
Aw, those dogs are always the ones to act up! You're dog is adorable!
Loved this video, the puppy was a bonus!
Wish there were more pointers when I was potty training my son 30 years ago. I’m sure this video is going to be helpful to many moms
My youngest is 24. I barely remember potty training except both of my kids would hide behind furniture to poop in their pullup.
My mom swore she potty trained us in one day. She fed us really salty foods all day so we kept drinking water and constantly needed to pee. For my kids I used rewards too. The first one loved stickers and did great. We gave her some old valentines and she stuck them on those. The second kid could not have cared less about stickers so we used m&ms. They made it easy though, because they were both dry at night before we started and I’ve heard it’s much harder if they’re still peeing at night because they’re not aware of it. You’re right, every kid is different but it sounds like she’s doing great! Good luck mama!!
That is so interesting how different things motivated your kiddos! I love that they each got something they liked!
Currently potty training my two year old, this was a lot of fun to watch and learn from!
Going through this currently with my almost 3 year old niece. She cries every time we even mention the potty.
Love the shift. I have a 2.5yr old son and he's showing signs of readiness to potty train. I just have to get my head around it. This video helped. Thank you.
Im going to keep this in my tool belt for when I have a child. Hopefully in the near future.
I had to stop in the middle of the video just because I have to say something 😁 (I'll be watching the rest of the video as well, for sure)..
It feels like your channel is totally made for me.. 😂 I found out I'm a wavy girl summer 2022, AND I'm a mom of 2 girls (3 and 9).. I follow your channel since 2022 and I was ready for your following content you will do from now on.. And your first video, after you announced you will increase the type of content, is about potty training.. 😂 Absolutely perfect, because we are "struggling" with our youngest as well with the potty training.. She did a great job the last months, but now she is being "lazy" about that - never tells us anymore when she has to go to the toilet (with peeing it was successful all the time, but pooping is and always was a problem, she never wants to go on the toilet for this) and she really never bothers when she has an accident.. So I'm here for you tips and tricks.. ❤ The stickers will be a cool thing for us.. 😁 Our 9 year old daughter was also "very late" with potty training, we never forced anything, just give her support and a guide and suddenly one day - it was done.. Never ever had an accident again. She was 3,5 years at this point. The youngest just turned 3 and I'm still hoping.. lol I'll wait until she is fully ready, but I'm concerned, that she isn't bothering about her wet and stinky clothes.. 😅 We will see..
Sorry for that huge sized comment, but I'm happy that you put all of my interests by accident in your channel.. 🤭🥰
Greetings from germany. ❤
This brought back a lot of memories! My kids are both in college 400 miles away from my husband and me now, but I remember potty training like it was yesterday. Enjoy their every little moment, Courtney. As a parent of grown kids I can attest to the fact that it will be over all too soon and you'll be taking them to college and then walking away smiling from ear to ear on the outside while your heart is breaking on the inside. The days are long but the years are short is 100 percent true. PS Wreck 'em ❤🖤👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
I tried potty training for a few days each with both my girls, due to pressure from other moms. After a few stressful days, I decided to leave it and let them decide when they were ready. For my first daughter, she eventually wanted to be like an older girl at preschool and she instantly decided no more nappies. And we never had wet pantries or bed wetting. My second daughter was adamant she did not want to be potty trained and again one day decided that she wanted to be like her big sister and wear pretty panties. Again, overnight she was out of nappies and never had any accidents or wet nights. I firmly believe children should lead the way indicating when they are ready.
My goodness, you were made to be a teacher, Miss Courtney! Love your new content. Your daughter is beautiful 😊
This video was such a pleasant surprise! We are about to start this process so this was definitely helpful! You are so full of joy - The Lord quite literally shines through you! I always feel so uplifted after watching your videos, whether it be hair or potty training. 😆
I taught Child Dev for lots of years (37 and I think I taught CD about every semester, 2 sections). We talked about signs of readiness, not age or other people’s opinions. Later is easier but more expensive because the child will be in diapers longer. First step was using a marker and index card to tally the number of times we checked for dry pants with success. Could show Daddy our index card with so many tally marks when he got home from work. I don’t remember a lot beyond that but it was a great starting place. I have been retired 11 yrs.+ the 37 I taught.
If it’s not working, don’t shame the child. It’s learning like any other learning. You wouldn’t punish your child if he/she didn’t get his/her colors correct. If it isn’t working STOP. The time isn’t right. Try again later, weeks/months. I enjoyed this topic with my high schoolers😀.
Thank you for sharing this!
My daughter is 2 years 3 months and we are about ready to give it a go. She was interested early and we had kind of gotten started but when I got pregnant I no longer had the energy to dedicate the time needed. Hoping that she will do alright starting again. With less on our schedule and hubby available while on paternity leave, it seems like a good time to give it another shot.
Yes mama!!! Love seeing this. This is exactly what worked for all 4 of my kids. They hated having accidents in their underwear so they caught on so quickly. And we only used pull ups at night till they stopped going at night. I've seen people try to potty train using pull ups all day because they don't want to deal with the messes but it always seems to take SO much longer. I'd rather clean up a few messes and then be done for good than to struggle for years trying to teach them to go in the potty chair.
The key is to wait until they are ready. My son wasn't ready until he was 3 and my daughter was about 18 months. I also used bribery.
I potty trained my daughter by taking her in the bathroom when I went and I walked into her room one day and told her flat out and said okay no more diapers ,I started getting her to were big girl pants during the day and training pants at night and it worked out so well and I was so proud of her for taking the adjustment so well very little day time accidents
Good luck! This method did work for us but I think we just hit the right method for us, also it was covid, we were going nowhere and he's an only child. Also cute puppy!
Wait...HOW is she two and a half?! Oh my gosh where has the time gone? 🥹 She did such a great job - heck, you *both* did a great job! 👏🏻 And the adorable, muddy puppy was just the icing on the cake. 🐾 Thanks for sharing. ❤
Also in the beginning it helps to have the potty in the room where they are .and when they are better ar
T it keep it the bathroom
My son is mildly autistic and didn't train until he was 4. But boy, once he started, it only took a week.
We had a little song to cheer our kids on when they went to the bathroom
side note,I just, started watching this after my first comment and noticed that your training the exact same way as I trained my daughter Samantha and she was fully traing not to far after her second birthday .I didn't know there was a book on this and only taught her the best way I knew how
Two things, they don't like the sensation of wet pants and wet down their legs, and they won't go potty when you are watching. Good Luck! We used only cotton panties--even at nap time or bed time. It sped the potty training. My daughter took about 8 weeks until potty trained day and night. My son, sigh, took about a year.
I hear that boys take longer. That was definitely my experience too!
Congrats! It takes time, and your doing wonderful. It's a whole new thing connecting the full bladder with having to use the toilet. I hear girls are easier than boys. I had 2 boys. They trained later but it only took a few days and they were done. youngest had one accident with poo, and hated it, had to take a bath, hated pulling his new big boy pants down, so literally never had an accident after that.
It really is a whole new thing! And that is really quick! Good way to learn too!
I had three kids by the time I was 26 and another at 35. My first three were girls and my last a boy. I could not afford diapers for two kids so I had my oldest potty trained by 1 1/2 years old because I was pregnant with #2 child. I had a stand alone potty chair and a book about pottying. She loved books. I left the door open when I did pee and encouraged interest in the potty chair. I would put her on the chair and read her the book. She understood the picture of yellow potty in the chair and I would ask her if she could do it too? She then pottied and I told her how good she was and then put her Little Mermaid or Pocahontas big girl underwear on. She liked it so much that it was really very easy. I also used pull-ups at night and naps but it's amazing what you can do when ya can't afford diapers and really need to train them. All my kids were less than two years apart except my son. I had one starting kindergarten and another starting college at one point haha Good luck! Sounds like ya know what you're doing.
That sounds like a great method! And diapers are just crazy expensive! It's insane. It does make them difficult to afford. Sad! But thank you!!
Our grandchildren are twins. They used this method as well. And it worked!!!!!! Can you imagine 2 at one time??????!!!!!!!
We used a similar method...training undies, a portable princess toilet that played music when you "flushed" (I'm a girl mom!) and a tarp over the carpet for the inevitable accidents. 😉 It worked well for all 3 in just a couple days!
My 3 yr old son resisted all efforts to toilet train! Finally the summer before he would have turned 4 in Oct. , I was pretty frustrated and told him he was spending the afternoon in his bathing suit ( we had no pool) and if he wet himself I would rinse him off with the hose. He asked me “will the water be cold?” , I said “oh yes “! That changed his mind and he decided to start sitting on the potty! After all it was only the beginning of summer and I was prepared to be on “hose duty” all summer!
How did you stop giving the gummies? Sounds like your LO really enjoyed them so did she not notice they were gone one day? Or ask for them?
So she quit asking for them! We used them up and about that time she finished the jar she didn’t have an interest anymore. I think I got really lucky. 🤷🏼♀️🤗
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney thanks for the reply!! I hope we get that lucky when the day comes! (Still at least a year away from training).
Ps - love the new content!
I love the fact that you block her face. I train my triplet grand babies. The middle child was easy. The boy was hard. The oldest of the triplets always wanted to pee in a musical potty chair. Getting her off of that was hard.
First one? Stopped peeing at night at one, stopped peeing during the day, pointed at the party, sat down, and within a week we took of her diaper. Never had one accident. Not one. My second? Oh boy. Jokes on me. Would happily poop himself forever. I'm cleaning it for him anyway, right? Zero intention of changing that, ever.
Just keep in mind, there are no adults walking around in diapers (unless its Depends, but thats a whole other subject). Relax, when she is ready, she will be ready. 🩷

This is the safe and tasteful way to do family content, as another commenter said it's filmed more from your perspective, and we love to see it! You are a treasure, Courtney and I'm so happy to see you having fun and making the content you want to make 😊
