Foley had 4 alter egos. The wild & dangerous outlaw, Cactus Jack. The insane, deranged, self depreciating, self mutilating, violent, broken, & misunderstood, Mankind. The secretly malevolent & contradiction, Dude Love. And the relentless & fearless hardcore legend that he gave his actual name to. Which is who he was when he had rivalries with Edge, & a number of other wrestlers that escape my mind rn. But I know that he was the Mick Foley, character in TNA.
Can't forget "The Legend" Frank Foley... The college virgin that couldn't seal the deal... (anyone who read his first book knows what I'm talking about)

Video title - Break the walls doooooooooown.. A backstage perspective of how a show works.. We've had docs like Beyond the Mat.. but it would be good if you could be a video showing how it all gets broken down from the bookers, writers and so on and how they get to the end product of a wrestling match. Superb content as usual Sir.
You left out a few. The Giant Machine: In 1986, shortly after Wrestlemania 2, Andre The Giant's gigantism had caused him so much chronic pain that he needed time off for corrective surgery. So he was kayfabe suspended for not attending booked matches and appearances, and used this time to have back surgery, as well as to film the movie The Princess Bride. After recovering from the surgery Andre needed to be able to test his body's ability to continue to wrestle, so he and The Masked Superstar (Bill Edes, aka Demolition Ax) teamed up wearing identical masks and tights and called themselves The Super Machine and The Giant Machine. I think Andre eventually needed additional surgeries or something, so they brought in Blackjack Mulligan as their third member The Big Machine. Eventually The Giant Machine was phased out of the team, and when Andre's kayfabe suspension was lifted and Andre turned heel and joined The Heenan Family, he continued to wrestle in the same outfit he wore as The Giant Machine, minus the mask (I think it was to hide the custom back brace he had to wear in order to continue wrestling). The Midnight Rider: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes used this gimmick a number of times throughout his career. I first saw it in Jim Crocket Promotions in the mid 1980's. I forget exactly why he had to put on the mask. He was feuding with The Four Horsemen and he either went overboard fighting them, attacking them with a weapon, or he lost a "Loser Leaves Wrestling" match against Ric Flair. In any case, after his suspension/forced retirement a "mysterious masked cowboy" arrived in JCP and took up the fight against The Horsemen on Dusty's behalf. I used to have a wrestling magazine (Pro Wrestling Illustrated I think) that had an "interview" between Dusty Rhodes and The Midnight Rider to "prove" that they weren't the same person. Yellow Dog: I think this one happened in the Von Erichs' World Class Championship Wrestling, although it has been used in World Championship Wrestling and a few other promotions as well. Cowboy Ron Bass was feuding with Barry Windham's younger brother Kendal Windham. This was in the very early 1980's, and Kendal was still very new to the business. He had a series of matches with Ron Bass in which he was constantly being beaten. They eventually fought in a "Loser Quits Wrestling" match, which Ron Bass won. A few weeks later there's this new masked babyface in a full body yellow leotard and a yellow wrestling mask calling himself Yellow Dog and taking up the fight with Ron Bass where Kendal Windham left off. IIRC, their feud ended with a dog collar match which Ron Bass won. (Brian Pillman later brought back this gimmick in WCW in the early 1990's in a very similar storyline)
I totally remember the night Abyss returned to fight Aces and Eights. Taz was nearly fearing for the life of both himself and the Aces and Eights. Taz: A...a... Abyss!!! Oh, no! Mike Tenay: *THERE'S A MONSTER IN THE HOUSE!!!*
Mickie James first run in WWE is legendary her Feud with Trish stratus is iconic and Abyss was awesome in TNA his match with sabu especially the Barbed wire massacre match @ TNA Turning point 2005 was an amazing match.
Bray needs to come back as the cult leader. It was the best gimmick and entrance ever and i miss it so much. He could still be the Fiend on occassions like Demon Balor.
@@alonzocole2663 Taker was magical of course, absolutely everything about it. I think the big difference is, you watched Taker come in, but you kinda came in with Wyatt through the fireflies. At least that was the feeling if you know what i mean. Foley was brilliant, no doubt, but his entrances are not on my top list. Demon is also amazing, absolutely loving it and Cody at WM was awesome!
You're right about one thing. Bray Wyatt should bring back all three alter egos: cult leader, leader of Firefly Fun House, and the Fiend. It would work for me. Not sure who the bad uncle is supposed to be but it's becoming confusing.
Mr America cracks me up so hard...His mask fails to cover his long blond mustache, like his most defining feature... It's like when Wolverine decided that the perfect disguise was an Eyepatch
You have to go back to the early 80s Jim Crockett Promotions for this one. The "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant lost a loser leave town match and was immediately back on TV as "Charlie Brown from Out of Town" and there was also Dusty Rhodes and his alter egos as well.
Mick foleys alter egos were the best by far....one of the best promos you will ever see is the return of cactus jack.....that titontron video is iconic for me the 3 alter egos all talking lol this is a moment/promo that isnt mentioned enough
Honorable Mentions: *Shane Helms as The Hurricane *John Cena as Dr. of Thugganomics *One Man Gang as Akeem the African Dream *Terry Taylor as Red Rooster *Kerry von Erich as Texas Tornado *Tugboat as Typhoon *Papa Shango as The Godfather
Its only a handful here and basicallythe one's who appeared in the last 15 -18 years. There's been great alter ego's throughout time. The characters - Machines (not alter egos but everyone knew the Masked Superstar and Andre). In NWA the James Gang and Midnight Rider and Yellow Dog characters.
Me and you saw Ezekiel on raw and all you can say is why vince mcmahon but you have to thank him because he made one of the more entertaining storylines and it was alot better than mr anerica to be honest and it's like he said kevin owens that made the thing work
I'm glad Mr. America didn't get crapped on. It's actually a pretty funny premise as Hogan is one of the most instantly recognizable men in the world. A similar thing was done years earlier with Dusty Rhodes masked as "The Midnight Rider".
Forgot about the masked wrestling stable, The Machines, in the ‘80’s. Giant Machine (Andre), Super Machine (Ax), Big Machine (Windhsm), and you can probably figure out who Hogan Machine and Piper Machine were. Lolz
What about Dusty as The Midnight Rider ? Or Bruiser Brody as Red River Jack ? Also Windham AND Pillman at different times becoming The Yellow Dog ! Heh
Correction: Samoa Joe beat the Demon King in a stell cage match on NXT Takeover: Dallas. He previously took the NXT title away from Balor on a house show
Mr America was awful, no effort to make the character different, just Hulk in a mask. Mick Foley is the best for alter egos, Kane's switch from Politician to hell's fave demon is good, but, yea, that's about it. Dustin Rodes has it working good.
Mystery MEN, and a mystery woman... La Luchadora is female. 3 women wore the mask.....Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and the 3rd person was never revealed ;)
As famous as Mick’s Cactus Jack character usually is, the one thing that people often forget is that the character started with a more controversial name: “Cactus” Jack Manson. And I say “controversial”, because Jack was often considered as a relative to Charles Manson, the white supremacist behind the Tate-LaBianca Murders in Los Angeles, where they murdered a number of Caucasian folk and attempted to start a race war between African-Americans and Caucasians by framing the Black Panther Party. Mick has denied any relation to Charles Manson and has since dropped the surname.
4:00 you're actually wrong The Demon Finn Balor has been beaten before once by Samoa Joe in a steel cage match on NXT so Roman Reigns wasn't the first person to beat him
Mr. America is the biggest mystery out of them all.
I always wondered who mr america truly was. I guess we will never know.
I say its Superstar Billy Graham
🤣🤣🤣🤣
No mystery just another racist hiding under a mask
Lifes biggest mystery

Out of the 3 faces of Foley, Mankind was my favourite. He was both menacing and sympathetic when he was a heel.
FACTS.
Mankind is the first face I think of when someone says Mick Foley's name
4:31 it wasn’t Roman who was first to defeat Demon Balor, Samoa Joe did it first in a steel cage match at NXT
Yeah but we all know NXT isn't canon for the main roster.

Samoa joe had beat the demon before roman did
I was sure somebody else remembered it.
Exactly wtf? How can one forget that
Have not watched wrestling in years but always wondered what abyss looked like
The Fiend, The Demon and Dr. of Thuganomics will always be my favorite gimmicks.
I met Mick Foley at a stand up comedy this year. I asked him if he could do the Dude Love dance and he asked "with these knees?". Class act!
Mickie James, still smoking hot
The fact that Mick Foley got over three characters and some good wrestler can’t even get over one is a testament to Foley’s incredible talent.
Had no idea Titus o Neil had an alter ego
Bray needs to come back as the cult leader. It was the best gimmick and entrance ever and i miss it so much. He could still be the Fiend on occassions like Demon Balor.
It was a pretty bad ass entrance
I respect it. But I have to disagree. Taker and foley had the best gimmicks hands down. And Demon is my favorite entrance apart from Cody’s WM return

Broken/woken Matt was amazing.
If Bray returns, I would love to see a babyface version of the fiend, called 'the foe'!
He has returned but no alter ego yet. Still waiting for that to occur. I'm looking forward to seeing that sometime soon.

I agree with that Rey sets such a high standard about wearing a mask that. Also having Dominic turning on Rey and Edge was awesome b
The storyline with Ezekiel was so much fun, silly wrestling is great.
The Elias Ezekiel thing is Ezekiel is the younger brother of Elias
Need Elrod to debut
I also liked the joker sting gimmick
