Is This Morocco’s MOST DANGEROUS Road? Driving the Epic Atlas Mountains
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лют 2023
- Welcome back to another episode of our vanlife Morocco adventures! This time we’re leaving the Atlantic coast and heading inland over the Atlas Mountains on our way to Marrakesh.
First up we stop by the pretty town of Tafraoute. Nestled in a secluded oasis amongst the Anti Atlas Mountains, this was our first taste of what was to become an eye feast of unbelievable Moroccan scenery.
Also during this section of our Morocco road trip itinerary we stop by the famous blue painted rocks in Ait Mansour Valley. Venturing into this surreal landscape felt like we’d simply landed on another planet. It’s such a cool place!
Next we worked our way along the winding roads and into the beautiful red walled city of Taroudant. After checking out the sights and exploring the medinas, the snow capped Atlas Mountains in the distance were calling.
And so we set off to climb up to the Tizi-n-Test pass, some 2,093 metres above sea level in the hopes of spending the night up there. Completely unexpectedly though (although maybe it shouldn't have been given that it is winter in Morocco), it starts to snow!
So tune in to see if we make it through the hair pin bends and snowy roads to our destination!
Catch you in the comments,
Sarah, James & Ady
P.s. Please leave us your best recommendations for what to do in Marrakech!

You are perfectly blending in in Morocco 🇲🇦👌. I love seeing your vlogs.
Thank you so much 😀
I have been really enjoying your vlogs and take on this trip to Morocco , going to the Atlas Tafraout Asni and Taroudant is such a great idea to capture the essence and diversity of Morocco !
Might be biased because i'm originally Amazigh but i love the shoes , i get a pair whenever i'm there :p
Have a great time !
Thank you very much, really appreciate that lovely feedback ☺️ We absolutely loved the coast but we really want to try and experience as much of Morocco’s diverse landscapes as possible whilst we’re here and these seemed obvious places to start. We love those shoes too! Full disclosure, we’ve all got more than one pair of them actually 😅 they’re so comfortable and we think they look awesome too so not surprised you pick up a pair each time you visit! Thanks for watching ❤️
Breathtaking views. What a trip and the memories you're making, beautiful.
The views were incredible! This leg of our trip was just amazing, some of the driving was a little nervy but the roads were in great condition. But Morocco just keeps on giving ☺️
يالله يالله يالله يالله يالله مناظر طبيعية جمييييي🇲🇦😍يييييلة
The landscapes were truly amazing ☺️
Thank you guys for showing me more stuffs about my country, and again you are very welcome to your second country

no desert experience yet ? Agafay desert 80 km from Marrakech is really really beautiful exprience and such a special peacuful place
We are 100% planning to get into the desert at some point, we really can’t wait. We’ll definitely research Agafay, thanks for the suggestion ❤️👍
Make sure to visit the majorelle gardens, Qsar Lbadii and Qsar Lbahia. Enjoy your ride.
Amazing thanks for these suggestions! ❤️
You might claim your husband is becoming more Moroccan by the day, but girl the way you poor the tea is evidence you are not far behind.
You guys are awesome!!
Haha thank you ☺️❤️🙌
You guys made my day❤God bless you .
A hug from a Moroccan in Texas ❤
Ah thank you ☺️❤️
It's so refreshing everytime I see your videos cuz you spread a positive aura wherever you go and the result all the people you meet love you and are friendly.
And you know ? it's very informative and full of lessons for you to experience what we call "The deep Morocco" where people live in extreme conditions with less means and difficult access to basic facilities. and yet you can see the joy of living in the faces wherever you go. personally I go to mountains every 2 months just to feel grateful and realize how lucky I am living comfortably in Casablanca and to chat with these wise people.
I recommand you to go to Ouarzazat and then Merzouga desert where you can pass by Kalaat Magouna the land of Roses ! and then see the mindblowing Oasis there and taste all kind of dates ! Believe me guys it's worth the drive !
Cheers guys and have a very safe trip !
It has been amazing visiting these types of places and just proven to us just how diverse this country is. The people we have met all over have been incredibly welcoming and friendly, it’s humbling. That’s amazing that you make that trip so regularly. Ok, we’ve noted down your suggestions so thanks for those, hopefully we will be able to fit them in to our trip 😀❤️🙌
What a beautiful vlog♥️♥️♥️

Thank you ☺️ The drive was so much fun and most of the road was in perfect condition so definitely not as dangerous as it might have looked. That restaurant was an amazing find and so kind of them to let us park - great food and a great sleep, just what we needed 😀👌 Glad you enjoyed the vid ❤️

One of my dreams is to spend a morning on the beach , the afternoon doing some snowboarding or skating and watch the sunset at the desert at the evening , all in one day in Morocco
Having just driven this route, it’s definitely possible to do that! In fact it wouldn’t even be too difficult. We hope you get to fulfil that dream ❤️🙌
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing thx bro, you’re a very lovely family ❤️
Such a wonderful familly .. welcome to your second country 🇲🇦✌🏻
Thank you ☺️❤️
So I think you officially saw more than majority of Moroccan people. Enjoy it and keep sharing so overwhelming pictures.
Thank you ☺️
Guys driving that road 😱 I understand your sense of adventure but please be careful 🙏🏿 Morocco looks fantastic 👌🏿
It definitely looked more dangerous than it actually was, the road surface was great in most places and there were very few other cars. I also drive very very slowly 😂😂 Honestly we’ve completely fallen in love with morocco, such a diverse landscape. Hope you’re well ❤️🙌
I’m so pleased you have got there. I’ve been looking forward to this video. It will bring back memories.
The meal we had up in the mountains, was the best meal we had there. Enjoy and hope you enjoy it as h as I did.
Ah great to hear ☺️ Yeah we really enjoyed the food at the top, really delicious. And such an incredible setting too. Wonderful experience 😀❤️
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing

Absolutely stunning.!!
It really is!
You got me cracked when you said "thats gonna feed us for three days hhhh" 😅🥰
It pretty much did too! So much tasty food!! 🙌
Thanks for all I'm Moroccan
WOOOW !!
AMAZING
5:03 The yellow slippers you were trying and bought are male shoes in that region. They are called "Edoukan" in the Tashleheit language, which is spoken by the locals there. The women wear red ones or multi-color. Tizi n'test is definitely a beautiful winding road connecting sous valley and Marakech. But, as you've seen, it could be dangerous for the uninitiated. I enjoyed your video, especially the excitement of your daughter, when she saw the goat outside the vehicle in Tafraout. Her excitement was precious. It put a smile on my face. I enjoyed your vlog, and I am looking forward to the next one.
I hope you're having a great time in Morocco, and I wish you guys the best!
Thanks for the info on the shoes, we didn’t know that. We loved driving Tizni n Test, so much fun. We just took it really slowly and had no problems ☺️ Those moments like when Ady saw the goat are why we do it, she’s just having the best time here and experiencing some amazing things. So glad you enjoyed the vid ☺️❤️
Tafraout is my hometown, im glad you had fun there 😊
Thank you. We LOVED it 😍
Tafraout … my parents home town …. Big thanks from Dubai
Enjoying sharing your experience with you....Very calming
Nice vidéo , Thanks..
Thank you ☺️
Hari OM
....😮that was gobsmackingly gorgeous! Well done on getting truly adventurous. I LOVE the shoe choices! I would favour yellow shoes, too, James... and Ady clearly has a fabulous sense of fashion! Huggies from this auld aunty frae her wee Scottish hutch, YAM xx
Thank you, we really loved that part of the trip, it was so exciting and such beautiful views. Hopefully more like that to come too. The yellow shoes are very popular here so I’ve been wanting a pair for a while. And since she learnt to put her own shoes on Ady has been obsessed with them 😅 Hugs back, hope you’re well ❤️
Wow guys, what pictures-tic drive, enjoy the rest of your trip.
many tourists have visited Morocco for just few days, they ended staying up there for the rest of there lifes, Morocco is the land of peace and tolerance
That is not a surprise at all, it’s really amazing 🤩❤️
Great Vlog. Can’t wait to go back to Morocco again.
You’ll love Marrakesh.
Visits to Jardin Majorelle and Jamaâ el Fna are a must. X
Welcome ❤️🇲🇦 beautiful family
Best couples ever ❤️ 🇲🇦
Ah thank you ☺️❤️🇲🇦
Hola Sarah & James, Taforaout is a beautifull city, in the past with water it was very beautifull and more palms ouasis, but due to drought and fires, the city is impatcted more and more.
Drive safe and enjoy your stay in Morocco, you could go to Tata, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Dades, Zagora...and then go to the north south in Dakhla to enjoy surf and fish.
Ah we didn’t realise that about the droughts and fires that’s really sad. It’s still incredibly beautiful though. Thanks for all of those suggestions, some places there we’ve not heard about before so we’ll definitely look into those 🤩❤️🇲🇦
Really enjoyed this lovely journey ! Welcome to Morocco, you're nice people.
Am Moroccan from uk it’s amazing have good trip you and your family

I have driven from Fez to Al Hoceima, and the drive was beautiful through Atlas.
Last 1 hour in dark which made it a bit scary , The Road you are taking is even more scary :)
Bienvenue au Maroc 🇲🇦👍🇲🇦❤️
You guys are amazing i love your positive energy good luck
Tafraout is an amazing berber village in Ameln valley❤👍
I need to travel, because my general understanding was that Morocco, Egypt are deserts. Impressed.
Egypt is surely a desert surrounding the fertile land near the nil, but morocco is defnitely a diverse country with very diverse nature
Oww Myy Godd
you have the perseverance, you have it. and.....the music you have put at minute 1.30, oh my goodness, where did you get that one! makes feel like BBC series...and the high pitch intonation of your misses voice at one of her questions...you guys are hilariously and astoundedly making history. THANK YOU
Ah thank you, such nice feedback we’re so glad you enjoyed the video ❤️☺️
