- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- We continue our tour of Europe WW2 sites, visiting the southern Bavarian town of Berchtesgaden and the Eagles Nest, or Kehlsteinhaus.
The Eagles nest of was one of the last places liberated by the allies in World War Two, marking the end of World War 2 in Europe.
The HBO Series Band of Brothers made an episode about this part of the war, and as Kelly's dad is a huge BOB fan and WW2 history buff, We had to go and check it out.
Be sure to check out the rest of our videos from our World War 2 road trip

God willing we'll be up in Berchtesgaden and Austria next September, 2024 for Oktoberfest. Cannot WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Us too!
I just loved this series! My late father fought in WWII and I would love to do a similar trip. Thanks for sharing your experience!
You are so welcome. Hopefully you can make a trip like this happen some day
I will visit next week
Going to Kehlsteinhaus, Eagles Nest is spectacular and it has wonderful vibes and so does the ruins of the Berghoff. It’s history and one can’t hate all Germans because of the war. The view from up there on a sunny day is spectacular. 😊
It's definitely spectacular and we love Germany and Germans! But we also can't forget the evil that some of the past men perpetuated and we were just getting done of those vibes. But still amazing!
Have you ever seen The Greatest Story Never Told? Watch it. Gives you a real glimpse into the realities of WW2.
The Eagles Nest is so beautiful. God bless these lands !!
We haven't, we will have to check that out!
@@TheAwkwardTourists seems to be an anti-semitic documentary...
@ how so? It's a documentary about historical facts.
@ Its no secret that the jews were in certain positions prior to ww2 and just because that gets mentioned there, doesnt mean its antisemitic.
Thank you for this nice video. The food looked really good and the views from the mountain were amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a great trip. Being able to see all of those sights and eat great German food. I like the brats also. It was also great to help your dad cross off something on his bucket list
Yeah, He had been talking about doing this for years
What a wonderful trip for your Dad, really enjoyed this series of videos ☺️
Thanks so much! 😊
very helpful video.. we are prepping for Salzburng area late March 2023. We expect cool/cold weather but will try to make it to Eagles's nest.
Awesome! Have a great time!
Been there in 2016. We did a road trip with our classic cars along ww2 sites. Went to Berlin after this.
Been there back in 1994. It was amazing
I was there about 25 years ago, the rest.was not there, I took a tour from Austria, the view from outside were gorgeous..
Cool video.
How did you get permission to fly the drone?
That fog rolling in on Eagles Nest looked evil.
Super Ominous. We had to high tail it out of there
That wasn't fog, it waa a cloud.
Nice couple and enjoy germany , I will be their next week .im from the uk . i will be riding my motorcycle there !! .
Great Motorcycle roads down that way!
The beauty of the nature in this video captivates my attention and interest. What a great place.😀👍👍
great shots :) and great series all over - greetings
Thanks!
Great video as always... I was in Germany in the beginning of this summer.. And the German word that got me was "Ausfahrt" which you see everywhere, and I believe means exit.. but all I could see was "Ass Fart" Lol..
Haha, yeah we had a good laugh over that one too
Good Gracious ! Eagles nest was way up there in the mountains 😮
Yeah, It's up there for sure
Thanks for this video! I enjoy all of your videos! What month did you go here?
This was in Late May of last year
@@TheAwkwardTourists Thanks so much!
Well said Kelly. It's still creepy when one visits these places.
Definitely some weird vibes
Thank you guys for this whole trip. Love the personalfahrt 😂
Haha, Glad you liked that one. We had a great road trip
@@TheAwkwardTourists It`s all about the small fahrts that`s makes a good day.
Some people do not have the thinking on your feet kinda humour.......
what time did you reach the dokumentation center and how long was the queue to buy tickets for the shuttle bus up to the Eagle's Nest
Best trip ever!
Hi, i have a question, is it okay to fly drone over eagle nest? I will be there in september and hesitating to get my drone with me.
I'm sad your European WWII is over! Love the personalfahrt 😂
Kevin couldn't contain himself....haha
I've been there!!
How much it costed, combined for all 3 for whole WW2 Roadtrip?
People will get a rough idea of expenses.
in which month you visited this place ?
Nice. Would have liked to see the lift though. Also, Hitler hated the Eagle's Nest. He hardly ever used it because he said that the thin air affected him. He preferred to stay below at the Berghof.
in fact he was afraid of heights
It looked absolutely void of tourists. Is it always like that? I would have thought it was a crowded very touristy place?
I think we caught it at the end of the day, on a day forecasted for rain, so that may have played into the lack of people
جميل جدا تسلم أفكارك
They built castles on mountain tops hundreds of years ago.
Please can you tell
Me what time off year you was in Berchtesgaden ?
This was in late may
@@TheAwkwardTourists thank you
Is allowed to fly a drone?
From the research that we did, it was ok to fly, as long as you follow some basic rules
Beautiful area in Germany
How they built all these? German engineering
POWs were the labor
Infantrymen from the 3rd infantry were the first u.s.troops to actually reach the top.
Martin bormann, had it built as a birthday present to hitler.
It was closed due to being too busy when we went, the locals and staff are so rude and ignorant I would never return or recommend to anyone
scared of Fog,? I live in the northwest. It is foggy and rainy all the time.
We were running down to beat the storm that was rolling in, The rain and wind got pretty intense up there quickly
I dont think is evil ,, is just historical depemd how you see it
When, I got there, I jumped out of the van and landed In a pile of human shit...
What an honor to experience that place, and yes you are 100% correct, there was an enormous amount of PURE EVIL that was there at one time. Nazis love to hide in places that most don't have access too. Thank you for sharing this! God Bless you and yours! ❤🙏
I guess Hitler didn’t have a fear of heights
Guess not, although I heard he actually didn't spend that much time there....
Those face masks are pointless you know...
Well they had a point in that they wouldn't let us on the bus without them, so yeah
@@TheAwkwardTourists Yeah. Stupid rules...
Why would you even care if someone wants to wear a mask? You know the famous words, “mind your own business”😷
@@robertrosano1964 Fine. Then why are you answering me in the first place?! 🤔🤔🤔
