Dude every diorama you make is incredible. This one if off the charts. The details are insane, the colors fit the Turtles perfectly, the posters and pizza menus and every really pop. I absolutely love the chipping concrete on the inside, especially how the light hits it and leaves a little bit of a shadow. And yea man, every time I see you build one of these I always wonder what it would cost as a commission from you. Forget the materials, man, the time is what I imagine would be the cost! These look like they take forever, and you get what you pay for, man. A Captain McKay dio is a top dollar dio. Killer stuff, man.
Thanks dog! These things are always so much fun to create, I rarely sell dioramas because I’m selfish and only make the ones I wanna keep haha. You’re right - the time is where the budget goes. Some of the brick work, painting, waiting around for things to dry...all that takes forever.
Your sewer set is so good. it inspired me to work on my own. similar vibe but doing different stuff since it is my first. bigger bricks. yada yada. thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, I am taken back to my childhood just looking at this. Great work man, you deserve a lot of praise for this. Seems like you put a lot of time and effort and it absolutely shows. Bravo.
This is really an incredible piece of art. A slice straight from the cartoon. I’d like to see what you could do with a bunch of under gravel fish filters for an AL(|)ENS diorama.
Love the Terminator poster on the wall. :D This is pure perfection! I need this in my collection! I have some of the collector edition figures (got them from Books A Million), but only of the turtles. I don't have the others - never found them lol :D This is incredible! The weapon rack is awesome!
Great vid & dio Captain! Your sewer dios always look good. Even though its meant for the cartoon versions, the colors you used make it easy to use the other figures as well. I think the alley & sewer are teeth cutting projects for dio-builders, lol. Definitely what I'll probably start out with. Keep up the awesome work!
My only critique is that you have a water or gas line running into the electrical meter! It’s all good though, looks cool! lol I’d paint the turn knob blue green or red though just for some contrast.
I guess I’ll just have to say that’s some kind of a water pressure gauge or something haha. Good eye, that’s definitely not a detail I would have even thought about. I’ll keep that in mind for future dioramas!
@@emilflognoid1532 many thanks! I have a video showing a custom Party Wagon I made as well, if you wanna check my channel out. I do believe I’ve heard NECA is making an official one too, but that may be LONG down the road from now. Best of luck with your diorama!
Thanks! I’ve thought about grabbing a small doll house couch I can use with this. It’ll be something I can fit into the space better if I take that corner piece out. Definitely on my radar though!
hello, great diorama by the way, i like the ambient and color that you use in the sewer, fantastic. and i am wondering, what tmnt do you have in this video? thanks
Thank you! I think this would work with SHFs, they’re similar in size to the NECA versions. I don’t have those though, otherwise I would have showed them!
Pretty awesome stuff there, cap. I really like the aesthetics of the dio, which you're right, do work better for the cartoon turtles. Loved the posters in there, not only because there was a Ghidorah poster but it's just great attention to detail. Although my favorite detail was the big box tv. I grew up with one and every once and a while I think I hear the ringing sound it makes when it's turned on. One question, how did you get the circle doors so smooth? I get straight edges but something curved like that must be difficult. Awesome stuff, man
Thanks man, I knew you’d like that Ghidrah poster (I still love that translations differ between “Ghidrah” and “Ghidorah,” haha). Those circular doorwars are traced with a take-out container and cut out with an xacto knife. Indeed, it takes a long time haha.
Thank you! That gray concrete stuff is just thin sheets of foam from an arts and craft store, probably like 3mm wide. You can get like 8 x 12” sheets in many different colors.
I believe I started with a black base coat, then went to red, then dry brushed an orange layer over top. I’m not 100% sure - I wish I remembered because I want to expand it and I’m hoping to match the color
Awesome, thank you, I am currently working on making my version of the turtles bedrooms, making one dio that I can change around for each turtle and for master splinter.
Sage Forsaken I use magnets to support the structure. It’s easier for me to have the option for breakdown and storage. Sadly there is still occasionally gaps in the corners as a result
@@CaptainMcKayRandom That's cool. Idea then. Get small neodymium magnets embed in the corner and a small real metal corner/L shape paint it up to match maybe glue some bolt heads to it the 🧲 could hold it in place
Can you tell me where you get the thinner foam? I have some thicker stuff for walls and floors and stuff but I want to do some stuff like finer details like your box and I have no idea where to look.
Sure, you can find it in arts and crafts stores. It comes in lots of colors but I just get black and paint it whatever color. It’s like 3-4mm thick, about like 8x12” sheets.
@@CaptainMcKayRandom Thank you Cap, sorry, must have missed that, looking forward to giving it a try! Great video, I subscribed after seeing it! Thanks again!
It’s been a long time but I believe it was a black base coat, a brick red layer on top, and then an orange/red mix on top of that. I don’t recall the exact colors sadly.
The brand is Apple Barrel but any cheap acrylic from Walmart or someplace like that would work. It’s like a dollar for a little bottle. I don’t remember which colors specifically since there are a ton of them out there
may i know the size of the diorama? its looks like 24 inched a width? 15 inches height.. i like the size of it. it fit the turtles size i hope neca 1999 turtle also fit in this size. thanks
Appreciate that! I’m just one guy so I doubt I’d be able to make it worthwhile as a business haha, but I wouldn’t mind selling some dioramas to people who could use them for photos or whatever.

Awesome diorama. You really bring the cartoon show justice.
Thank you! I had a great time with this one.
the detail is just so good

This Diorama is Fascinating..😎 the Fun factor is off the Chart this could also be for that new Punisher with the bike his hideout.. well done!
Thank you! Yeah this has a lot of possible uses now that you mention it
Great job. That sparring mat can also be a meditation area
Great idea! Thanks for watching.
Yeah, this is easily one of the best sewer dioramas I've seen, so awesome.
Thank you! Glad you like it!
I had that Art Addams X-Men poster. Great looking diorama.
Nice! As a kid it was in my friend’s room, I always liked it a lot and now I finally have a little version I can admire

Hell yeah! Thanks man.
Dude can u do a tutorial of making it because I want a lair for my ninja turtles plzzz
I would gladly pay to have this built, at the same time the more I see dios like this the more I wanna try it myself. Excellent job 👏 👏👏
Your continued creativity is increasingly impressive, Cap! Great diorama, makes me wanna watch the show.

Thank you! Usually I trace something big and round, like a pot lid. Then I cut it out carefully with an x-acto knife.

I’ve made city buildings before, they take some time for sure. I’d be curious to try something like the Technodrome though!
Awesome.

Just cheap Apple Barrel acrylics from WalMart. Black base coat, then red, then orange in dry brush layers.
