    Mykelti needs to put glasses on as Robin is a hoarder. She doesn't clean, cook, or take care of her kids as she has a nanny, so what does Robin do all day as we all know that she has never had a job. I would say that the viewers know what she does all day as her daughter confirmed that her mother and Kody spend their time in the bedroom that is locked.

    Look into the 5 stages of hoarding. IMO, Robyn & Kody are in between stage 2 & 3, meaning either one or both are at risk in later years of becoming a stage 5 hoarder.

      I'm a former OT and have not only grown up with hoarding in family of origin and see it as a spectrum or progressive condition, but on a home assessment 20 years ago walk into a house that was as later was featured on the show that brought the harder word to the public.
      Along the way I'd learn theories of genetic predisposition, and at the end of my career was specializing in people with complex, chronic illness. (Insert image of Robyn and symptoms evident with her of thyroid disorders and be ready to peel the onion on genetics + environmental load ).
      In 2007 I was organically putting pieces together via my patients or others coming to an education group for complex chronic pain and fatigue.
      In my best brief explanation of things, if you're not detoxing right (which is genetics and load) , a domino effect can occur. Endocrine / hormones effected, look into APH axis as a step that takes you to moon face with goiter.
      In 2015-17, after leaving mainstream, I was to help a person soon to be diagnosed with a condition under environmental illness umbrella, whose house was very much like Robyn's in layout and size.
      It took 2 years to get it culled and organized enough the person could bring I the next steps professionals to repair and restore the home for selling.
      I could see the high functioning evident, organization, etc. a decade before .... before the loads of things pushed the genetic buttons, so to speak.
      Functionally more difficult things are bypassed and avoided by doing easier things. Buying is easier than getting rid of.
      Then you can have disordered thoughts previously masked that are now unmasked. Sometimes it seems to be worry of landfill space being a resource of concern.
      I shared a minimalist M.O. with my mother as a child at a time they were scraping by so my sib keeping everything they ever owned did not seem problematic. She died as a young retiree. We had been 4, 2 and 2 balanced simple and minimal, and opposite. Now it was me vs 2.
      Fast forward 50 years and when I'd go for an overnight stay, in the bathroom there was not space on the counter to put a small makeup bag or an oral care bag or my cup for rinsing. So I made room by throwing out the same Bactine I'd used as a child and a few things and mostly reorganized things to make space for me to keep a few things there with last parents end of life coming.
      I had underestimated the distorted thoughts and rehearsed mental plans for how things were going to be. With the end if life I was offered to take anything I wanted but they had 1 small coffee table of things going to thrift so I selected only from that, to be polite. I'd have liked to have many items special from my family but by then had realized the repercussions any little thing could bring.
      I suspect mold, Lyme and company, heavy metals / not detoxing properly and underlying genetics plus triggers which can be physical or emotional in person or previous generation/s are at play.
      I'm glad more people know more about it all the time.

      I remember also being intrigued with the theory / info about families that fracture with end of life of parents tending to have more females than males. I forget the name of the book.
      In 2008 I took a gal needing to buy things relocating to a moving sale of a woman I knew as a prim proper clerk in retirement and quickly realized she was a hoarder. Her dtr lived in a mansion. Not like Robyn's house, an actual Has been in Architectural.Digest mansion. She was who first educated ne of the genetics part. She had managed it, worked at it .... then not long after my family member got into treatment.

      @@skokian1ableThey might be neat. My mom struggled with hoarding tendencies when I was growing up. Not full blown hoarder, but she kept all kinds of stuff she should have let go. Then she remarried and the guy she married REFUSED to throw ANYTHING away. Our house was clean (thanks mom!) but ridiculously cluttered. Especially when I was a teen. My room was not cluttered. Every year, twice a year, usually once in the spring & once in the fall, I would go through ALL of my stuff and get rid of everything I no longer used & had no attachment to. I refused to live in a cluttered mess. I still do that, just not twice a year anymore. Since my mom divorced, I've been able to help her learn to declutter and not have as many hoarding tendencies. She had literally nothing for so much of her life and I think that triggered the desire to keep everything just in case.

    Agree that Robyn LOVES shopping. Back in the old days when you had to order from catalogs and couldn't order online... I used to fill out orders and just never mail them in. I found it was more fun to technically shop than to spend actual money and get more stuff. It's too easy now to spend your money. I spent almost 2 years paying off credit card debt before I retired, and I'm not going back into debt. Lesson finally learned. Robyn had too many enablers, but maybe that ended when Meri left.

    I think Robyn is a hoarder but she just hasn't gotten to the severe hoarder stage yet. Mykelti's explanation of moving from a smaller to a larger to fill space is ridiculous. Robyn's shopping addiction is the reason and her inability to get rid of what she doesn't use. I have moved several times and based on the size and layout of the new place if all of my stuff wouldn't fit I would donate or sell what wouldn't fit. I think Kody is part of the problem too because he has said that whatever he has in one house he had in the other 3 houses too. I remember Christine's garage being full of his boxes that she packed up for him. Probably some of those boxes in the basement are his stuff still packed up and forgotten about.

    Excellent video! I had so many thoughts running through my head on this one, my mind began to feel like Robyn's walls! So I'm going to purge them by vomiting some of them out. For starters, I loved your little circle earrings at first sight, but then Meri's voice began to echo in my head, "Circles are stupid!" so now I'm second guessing my own judgement😉LOL! Now, on to the real issue. Robyn. I agree 100% that a person's home is a reflection of their state of mind. A person can be a shopaholic and not hoard. They can freely give away and share with others what they are tired of and don't want anymore. But hoarders are always hanging on and refusing to share because they want EVERYTHING for themselves. They are unwilling to let others have what they deem is their "stuff". And with Robyn, it extends beyond just things. Did she not hoard her first three kids away from their father and keep them all to herself? So she can't share kids. Did she not hoard Kody away from his other wives and kids? So she can't share Kody. Is she not systematically hoarding all of the land and money away from all the other wives with the "legal wife" usurpation that she pulled on Meri under false pretenses? Let's face it. Robyn is one of those rare people in life whose entire philosophy is, "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine too."

    • @becky9103
      @becky9103 5 місяців тому +6

      And I will comment on my own comment. Kody always seemed irritated by disorder in the other wives homes, yet he is fine with it at Robyn's. But I remember an episode where all the wives were cooking in the kitchen together and Kody made the comment that Robyn was so beautiful, she didn't need to cook. Well.. I think he carried that same philosophy over to housekeeping as well.

      @heidikickhouse- 5 місяців тому

      Wow! That was a lot of judgment! I especially liked the part where you say hoarders "refuse to share because they want EVERYTHING for themselves". Equally funny was the comparison to people who "freely give away... what they are tired of and don't want anymore" - hysterical! I know you called that "sharing" - but that's not actually having true generosity of spirit. By definition, if you don't want it anymore, it's less of a hand-me-down and more of a make-this-go-away dump. Neither one can be compared to coping with a very tough, very tenacious mental disorder. Although it is technically part of the compulsive spectrum disorder family, most clinicians (other than the unprincipled ones on the hoardy show), address underlying mental issues, both cognitive and emotional, if they expect to see truly long-term maintenance. One of the four kinds of cognitive difficulties that researchers have found hoarders to have has to do with information processing deficits which are actual and measurable and lamentable, affect all areas of their lives - and are not selfish. The emotional/mood are anxiety and anxiety-avoidant. None of them are personality disorders, or character flaws which the unwillingness to "share" that you accuse them of (which, again, is still not passing on to others your unwanted trash, as you described) would suggest. The rationale and anxiety behind parting with objects has to be made manageable. The anxiety is real. It is overwhelming. It is painful. Someone else picking up a stained broken useless object and moving it to the garbage can cause a panic attack. That is not selfishness. That is not a refusal to 'share' with the trash bucket. Think about a mother's fierce evolutionary instinctive hardwired love and protectiveness for her children and how few things can supercede that: drug/alcohol addiction, thrall to an abuser, and mental illness, specifically here, the unsafe environment that can come with hoarding. The anxiety is just that all consuming, you can lose your kids or be in the great pain of watching them suffer and the anxiety still wins. It gets expressed in many different ways, but just to address your post, often it takes the form of "but what if somebody I know is going to need it later?" I guess you could think of that as selfish too if you want, that the hoarder just wants the credit for the gift, but usually that person has had the helper role in their family and is worried about not being able to provide what everybody else needs. Another gross thing the hoarding show does is use shame and degrading, which I have no moral objection to, but it's just not effective long-term (although it is good for ratings) but I mention it because they are missing something that actually is very effective. That is, assuming that for some worst practices reason, you are starting treatment bass ackwards with the trash removal trucks and not the mental therapy. All you have to do is tell any hoarder regarding any object about someone who needs it and they will happily give it away. It's called dispositioning. It's totally manipulative and it totally works. Got a stand up basketball hoop you're saving for your grandchildren 20 years from now? I know someone with two kids who would love it - boom, it's gone. Got a second refrigerator unplugged in the basement you're not using? I know a family leaving a shelter who needs one - boom, it's gone. Got a broken down rusting car in the front yard bring down the neighbor's property values? I know a shop teacher who'd love a car his students can work on, and off it goes too. For these big objects, the item's destination needs to be specific, not generic donation or thrift store, but just knowing that it is 'needed' and will be used and the hoarder is thrilled to be rid of it. Obviously you can't dispose of a whole hoardy house like that, I'm just mentioning this one particular tactic to show that in general, this mental disease is not about being selfish and un-sharing.
      As to Robyn, I personally certainly am not qualified to determine if she has compulsive hoarding disorder or not. Is she self aware, do her objects bring her pleasure or anxiety? There's a bunch of criteria to be met that lay people can quickly identify in those extreme examples shown in the first few minutes of a hoardy episode. I understand why Mykelti chose the question, it's a titillating topic, maybe next Mykelti will ponder if Robyn and Kodi are behind that locked door being furries. But I think before Mykelti or anyone lays a diagnosis on Robyn, we all might want to have a better understanding about the mental illness they are discussing before we diagnose.
      I do not disagree however that Robin is probably one of the most selfish and fake, duplicitous women on television. I have no idea what any man sees in her, but if she were my neighbor, and looked twice at my husband, I'd move.

    Notice how in the kitchen, in the middle of the freaking floor is a $200+ Christmas carousel from the village! Why? For the past two years I've wanted a Christmas carousel for my Christmas village, but the small ones are like $50 and I can't justify spending that much on a single decoration that we use for 5 weeks out of the year, it's not logical. But there's Robyn, never brings in money but spends as much as she can, buys a Christmas village that is $200-$400 per piece, gets an expensive carousel to go with it and leaves it on the kitchen floor, why not! 🤦‍♀
    Also, Robyn literally had a Christmas jewelry set that had hideous snowmen, dangle, earrings with a "matching" necklace, but the necklace was a silver block that just said "jolly" ....what women wants to wear a necklace that says jolly?! Or when they made that diamond shaped necklace with "SW" straight up copying Scooby-Doo's collar! And on IG or maybe it was a "jewelry collection" but either way, she called something "love gives you wings" and made coordinating jewelry to match the slogan. That is the slogan for Maxi-pads or close to it! Maybe it had something to do with Ko-Ro's "love song" which Kody quoted the lyrics to on the show. Of course, my nosey-self had to look up these quoted lyrics to find their "love song" lol. It's Phoenix Rising by Annihilator, a horrible early 90's hair ballad but the lyrics are quite interesting to Ko-Ro's "story." They have a weird thing with "love" and flying creatures, but you can totally picture Ko-Ro making out to this song in the lil Kodester Roadster.
    I just heard Kody unfollows Robs on Instagram. Trouble in paradise?

    12:22 since I am 66 and have a lot of life behind me, I’ve lived many different sorts of lives. I know that sounds strange but I will explain. When I was a child my room looked like a hoarders room. We had papers all over the floor but the beds were clear so we had places to sleep and I really don’t know why the room was such a mess. I was six and sharing a room with an older sister. I had to sleep on the bottom because I kept falling out of bed and in a bunk bed that would’ve been disastrous. Got a little older we moved to a bigger house I still had to share a room but that room was much cleaner and we tended to use that the footboard of the bed as the closet the closet was way too small for two people. And there was a time when we were the same size even though my sister and I were five years apart. My sister would just outgrow something and it would come directly to me because I was not small for my size like she was. This house downstairs was very clean and my father always had the self deprecating thing where he would apologize to visitors for the house looking a mess. My mom worked full-time he was disabled and there were four children. We tended to put things on the dining room table because we didn’t really use the dining room table. We had a small kitchen table which I wish I still had because I had a beautiful porcelain top but we didn’t really eat together in the dining room unless it was a holiday or the rare occasion we had someone over. We used TV trays in the living room because my father was disabled. But there was no bags and boxes and clutter and we didn’t even really have tchotchkes. And a lot of the pictures on the wall were things that my father had painted. Then my parents finally bought a home and we lived in it for nine months before it was hit by a flood. We lost everything that wasn’t on the closet shelf. And that house was never really a mess. My mom would stack up newspapers but the kitchen was always very clean and we didn’t have money to buy a bunch of tchotchkes. I eventually moved out and got married and we used lawn furniture in our living room for the first and even though we didn’t have stuff to make messes with my husband would still complain if the magazines on the coffee table were crooked. I like them found out he did not. I didn’t even on a dresser so I kept my underwear in a box. Then the children came along and we bought a house children come with toys and high chairs and swings and bassinet and little Carry things. The living room was only 12 x 14 and had five doors, which made it next to impossible to keep from being cluttered when you have four children and all of the accompanying stuff. I have been known to collect crafting materials but I didn’t have any separate place to put them so they went next to the couch. But I was called a hoarder and I was called messy and I was called sloppy and never ever measured up to his expectations. I found out much later that it really wasn’t me and he would’ve treated anyone that way. So this video is actually triggering for me and I’m surprised I’ve gotten halfway through without clicking off. This comment is actually cathartic so you know you don’t have to read it. I truly don’t know what Robbins issue is but most of the time people that continue to buy even though they don’t have the money in cash or don’t have the money to pay off the credit card bills that they’re creating, is usually someone trying to satisfy their emotional needs with things. That dickens village which we know she probably bought new is very expensive and I don’t know why when you have that many children in the house you would forgo your island which is probably where they have most of their meals. I don’t think there’s any rational or logical thought process for her spending except in her own mind. I think she’s a see it and wants it mentality and it probably gives her an adrenaline rush to buy something. But that also tells me that she is not emotionally fulfilled and being a mother or and being Cody’s wife. And the only way that she’s going to stop this behavior is if she goes to very lengthy counseling and is upfront with the counselor. I do not see that happening because right now this is working for her why should she change it?

    Ohhh Mykelti. Ever the fence straddler. I’m curious to find out whenever the show actually ends and contracts are done with TLC if we will hear what she REALLY thinks of Robyn and Kody. And of all the others as well. Bc my gut instinct is that she is giving heavily filtered responses to her patrons’ questions so as not to upset anyone OR TLC. I absolutely cannot stand the “yes and no” answer, unless you have a REALLY good explanation for it. Robyn shops and shops and is clearly a hoarder. Not to the degree that we see on the show Hoarders, but she is a hoarder. It is a mental health issue. I believe Robyn has a lot of unresolved and untreated mental health issues. I am sensitive to THAT aspect of her life bc I deal with it myself. I believe she has a shopping addiction (pretty well documented) and she has a chaotic and cluttered mind, which translates to a chaotic and cluttered environment, like you mentioned. I dealt with the same thing. At work, everything was neat as a pin and in place, at home things were cluttered and I couldn’t seem to get it together without help. I believe she feels “paralyzed” and doesn’t even know where to start. I also agree she would be better off hiring a maid or organizational specialist rather than a nanny to help. I am ONLY sympathetic towards Robyn on this issue of the cluttered house and her mental health bc I’ve been there. It’s an awful feeling and not a good place to be at all 😕 I take medication to help with my bipolar and other mental health issues but I don’t think she does. Their religion doesn’t believe in it right? I still very much dislike her for everything else she’s done to this family 😒 As for My Sister Wives Closet🙄 I don’t even know where to start. This was allll Robyn like you said. The other wives got dragged into it basically against their will and bc Kody backed anything Robyn wanted he pushed them all into it. Like you said, he even called it a hobby at first. She didn’t want to do any work. Except design. Ugly ass designs 😣 way overpriced and even if it was cheaper it was still so ugly! Mykelti was right when she said it was too expensive for what it was. Robyn wanted the other wives to do all the work while she just spent the $. But a twist in the plot! No one bought the ugliness that was her designs so no $ coming in. And that guy they got the 250K from will never see any $ back. I’m sure Kody is shitting his pants and Robyn is having one panic attack after another right about now bc even Stevie Wonder can see that this may be the last season of sister wives. The fans are screaming that they’re sick of watching Kody and Robyn. We want to see more of the OG3 and the OG13 kids and their lives. NOT kody and Robyn. But we will see. It will be interesting to see what those two actually do for jobs when the $$ runs out. Have a great weekend Jenny! Hugs 💖

In addition they have storage units for things like the family food storage, Which is 3/4 fridge freezers plus dry goods. Then they have all the actual "art" and seasonal decorations. I remember Kendra saying that she was an enployee and how she payed the taxes or something to get done (for sister wives closet) and Robyn didn't want to pay her. In fact, she wanted for Kendra to commit fraud and that's when their friendship ended. So bwcause Kendra wouldn't commit fraud, she never got paid. I wanna say it was at least 2,000$.

    Is it possible she met with Kendra to start a clothing line for larger women as she wanted and told Janelle to start a clothing line for larger women multiple times during the very short lived my sister closet ( where all their secrets are kept) maybe that’s where the name came from bah bah bah Robyn meeting Kendra was just another one of a thousand manipulative things Robyn did behind the OG3’s backs

    Don’t forget she has all the unsold inventory from the closet. And for all their assertions about quality jewelry is not cheap and you’ve got a pay a little bit more for it I still think they over priced everything. And from reviews the quality was not there. They probably got it made in China which will tell you with Sterling when it’s not, they were even selling children’s pajamas that were not flame retardant. And a lot of their stuff is full of lead, there’s a whole Lotta laws that they’re breaking when exporting to the US. That being said all those boxes of product have to go somewhere. And we know Cody stuff wasn’t at robins because it was at Christine‘s. Because he threw a hissy fit when she told him to get his stuff out of her garage and there’s a little problem of having a 10 room house but you have no room for truly to come and spend the night.

    • @SeniorPerspective-123
      @SeniorPerspective-123  5 місяців тому

      that's probably why he fought Christine so much about moving to Utah. Remember when he was ok with her "leaving him" but couldn't understand why she would take 'ALL HIS KIDS' away from him (translation: one kid...all the rest had moved out already). He needed her in town to store all his stuff!

    Not uncommon when you are brought up poor. People tend to want to buy and spend to make them feel good and to show the world they made it! For example, why would Kody buy sports cars? Make sense? Just IMO.

    Realtors can go inside a house with a drone and can take pictures of all the rooms and outside to get pictures of the house and surrounding property. I also wonder how the older kids that go to college avoid any stories about their real dad.

    Robyn appears to have a lot of mental health issues going back to her childhood. It seems like she uses "retail therapy" to try to fill the emptiness she experiences - trying to buy herself happiness. Obviously, it doesn't work, but she keeps buying and looking more and more miserable. We've also seen how Kody revels in his "possessions" - houses, cars, jewelry, etc. He considers even his children and wives possessions. Robyn's buying so many things just feeds his need to appear successful in the amount of his possessions.
