This has been know a long time obviously. But I love absolutely LOVE that if you want to know how to build ANYTHING, someone has done it on UA-cam lol Great video, I'm going to get one and build it. Also I want to acknowledge the time it takes to first do this, then to film it and do that WELL to! It's a lot of work, good job.
Looks to be a very well thought out CNC kit that goes together very easily. I think your tip about building on a non-glueable surface should be stressed a bit more . You don't want people having to fly the work bench :) I use cling film usually but Oracover backing works, too. Rather than threading the servo lead through the ribs before covering it's better to make a paper tube so that the servo leads can be removed and replaced if a servo needs to be replaced - eg if the gears strip on a belly landing. I'm certainly tempted it looks great.
Always build on wax paper directly over the plans so everything is perfectly aligned to the plans to prevent warps and out of true components. Wax paper prevents the glued parts from sticking to the plans and the build surface.Another thing use a large piece of insulation foam and T-Pins to pin the parts to the plans to keep everything aligned. I think you would’ve found it easier to build had you done a little more research on how to build RC balsa airplanes instead of just assuming as you obviously did. Building balsa models is pretty much a dead hobby these days but back in the 1980s and early 1990’s I built a lot of large scale rc kits. Good luck and I hope balsa kits come back.
Interesting I build one 60 years ago also from balsa wood, I had to wind up the propeller which was driven by elastic. Never attempted to fly it. Too scared to damage it.
I built the Guillows kit in the 1970's...balsa and silkspan covering with Testers fuel-proof dope paint. Made it as a control liner with an 049 Cox engine. Crashed it to bits first try (my friend didn't give it a decent hand launch!).
I think 40cc might be a bit big! Even a .40 cu inch would be too. I would think the structure is a bit light to withstand the vibration inherent with glow engines.
The detail pack is now included as standard and includes the radiator, oil scoop, exhausts etc. You might be able to figure out a way to add landing gear as it's super customisable!
Love building this plane and this video is great. However, I would like to ask that you take a little more time to explain how to install the motor please. I am a beginner and have been trying to scour the web for the installation of the motor but in this video that wasn’t really explained.
Awesome model btw...i have 3 different ft motors and would like to recycle. I also have a motor from an aeroscout and not sure if that could also work. Any help would be great!
Hey James, I have one complaint! The Website does not say what kind of servos, ESC, and Motor is included. I am thinking about getting some sort of model from the VMC since I sold one of my Vintage gliders for a good price.
Wonderful design. Extreamly expensive. All flat stock laser cut no special balsa shapes or prefab parts. What gives? Does it fly better? I can't get my head around the the cost. there are plenty of chioces out there, this wont be on the list. Good Video on a non-do-able product. beyond reason.
Ребята! Вы не моделисты! Вы даже в терминологии путаетесь. Вы- "хоббисты"! Чтобы называться моделистами, прочитайте книги Сироткина, Тарадеева, Гаевского, Жидкова и до.
These planes look great and simple 👍
Nice to see someone actually "building" - the old skills are not lost yet!! Great video!! 😊👍
I really like the way these models slot together!

6:03 cover fits well. Nice to see that.
Good job
such a precision well made kit. love the video
Nice planes, ilike.
Is it possible build with glow engine?
Nicely done Tom
This video is fantastic! Very very helpful seeing it all as it goes together. Thank you.
a text overlay with the current parts would have been amazing
Helpful video thank you. Can I ask when the set up video or instructions are going to be available please ?

Are you able to do the Guillows Super Cub too? I have the Super Cub

What kit was this and can you still get it
Hey James well done. Can you recommend what size glow motor you would put in this as electric is too quiet for me.
An 061 to 09 would be good for this. A strong 049 might just about pull it as well, if you build the plane lightly.
Definitely need a 40
Good model and video!
I don't see an option to buy here in the US.
Where can the laser files be found?
$164.21 That is $16 a board and a bit of hardware. And your Ok with this?
Also is there going to be a f4u corsair kit like this?
Looks suspiciously like a balsa version of the David Windestal FT spitfire! 🤣 👍
Hey guys are your kits combination balsa and ply?
Can a 2-stroke 40cc engine be used instead of the electric motor?
I think 40cc might be a bit big! Even a .40 cu inch would be too. I would think the structure is a bit light to withstand the vibration inherent with glow engines.
great model but a little bit boxy compared to the original spitfire, would love to see a more realistic model, for the more advanced modellers
Just sand the turtle deck and engine cowling round and sheet with thin balsa sheet then cover with your choice of iron on covering or paper and dope.
@@keithwhisman Have you heard of or seen anyone who's done this with this model? I'm a beginner and I'd like to see
@@issraali7715 no but I’ve done it with other models to make them more scale but I also made them radio control.
Love your models. All the best!
Is there a place to download an SVG and cut this myself?
WHOA THERE, PODNUH! Where's the instructions for covering the airframe? Whole aspect of this missing!
Who makes this kit?
Shout out to Balsa Model Flight Simulator on Steam Early Access!
Nice ❤
Great Tutorial. Keep up the good work!
I need fixed landing gear. Is there a landing gear option?
What is included in the extra detail pack?

Man aren't you the guy from project air?
Great model James, well done! Is a lancaster using these same methods going to be on the build board soon? 🤣
Maybe!
@@vintagemodelco7936 very much hope so.
where can we get the additional extras?
Do you need sum remote kontrol ?
I tried to follow the guide, I found it a bit too fast paced.
Be nice if I could hear the sound, Volume too low and not on my end.
do you have the plans
This model is currently only available as a kit. 👍
I just want the plans for the build

Hi Vivek, the motor instillation is show at 7.19 - It's quite simple and done with the hardware included in the kit - hope that helps!
Which flitetest motor would you recommend?
Awesome model btw...i have 3 different ft motors and would like to recycle. I also have a motor from an aeroscout and not sure if that could also work. Any help would be great!

Hey Nik, just updated the info on the site. Thanks! ☺️

It is now included as standard on this kit!
Awesome thank you
Could you send me plans for a Rc Spitfire nitro engine in a O.S.46 i do so enjoy watching your videos P.S I am thanking of buying a
Balsa thickness?
Where is the old skill of using a scalpel to cut envy thing out, that wasn’t building just assmbley.
quedo espectacular .
Your audio levels are very low...
audio seems to be an issue on all their vids. Its unfortunate because everything else is great in the vids.
Levels are one thing, but the noise gate is horrible here. The attack is waaay too slow. Almost makes this unwatchable.
I couldn’t finish watching it as I couldn’t here it
Hi
H is pronounced aitch not haitch!

Где б чертежи найти такие для лазерной резки
Awsome
I can see myself spending 40+hrs building the plane and 40sec to be in pieces after takeoff.
Waaaay to many commercials fo 20 minutes video, hard pass.
Your video is a bit fast paced …slow down a bit
