That has to be one of the easiest method with a perfect final result. Worths a try.
Gosh, that's genuinely impressive. Thanks for showing us.
I like the way the handle keeps it from bending. Some UA-camrs actually bend the scraper as they push it to make it cut better, but that can make the board concave. I will try it!
Years ago I gave away a set of 15” straight knife planer blades when I upgraded to helical. Looking back😢 those blades could have made excellent scraping tools.
I like the way you made it rigid, i think that's another reason you get such good shavings.
Thanks for the idea.
A great job, thank you very much !❤
I made one of these after the original video and was impressed with how well it worked. Now I'm more impressed with how easy it is to maintain 👍
Maleny - What did you use for a blade?
I'm interested in making this tool after seeing the results.
Thank you.
@@skippylippy547 I used a regular utility knife cartridge.
Very impressive.
Always looking forward to your videos.
Great video with no wasted time advertising.
Impressed by the simplicity of the idea!!! All the best to the master!
Thank you for that. An interesting, informative, entertaining video again.
I had always used these blades as scrapers, without a base, changing them when needed. Will try sharpening!
Very cool. I want to try this.
Oh elegant solution
Thank you. I will try this myself
Just shared this with three Furniture Making teachers who admired this tool in the previous vid, FYI. Beautiful stuff! Thank you.
Wow! thats great.
Great video thanks for sharing
Thats beautiful
That's the best I've seen 40 years a carpenter wish I had it years ago have used many nice to sharpen 👍
Excelente muy útil. Buen trabajo te felicito amigo 👏👏😉
perfect idea!
Thanks
Really good on veneers.
Bravo!!!
Wel done. Easy and very simple but with superb results. And vey safe and healthy?
Yes, thanks for asking
Wow! 😮
Fantastic, Gregory! Do you have a video showing how you made the holder? I don't remember it!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yes, I have that video, here is it:

Thanks for watching 👍
@@GRINwood Sweet, thank you! 😊
@@MCsCreationsRealy!
You realy need a video for that ?
I made this a few days ago and it;s already working a treat for things that would have been awkward otherwise - I don't know if you did this but I made a small recess for the blade to sit in, 1/2 the bald thickness depth so it was really held firmly and stopped at one end so it cant really slide, though TBH it's really held tight.
🔥👍 nice
Super! Why not to use trapezoidal blade?
Cool
the best of the best scraper ever - a piece of window glass
You can buy pro scraper tazors 4inch 5 inch
Gracias! Abrazo!
Germán.
Hello, I use 18mm snap off blades. Thanks
@@GRINwood Gracias!
What angle do you hold this type of scaper at when scraping the wood? Is it 90 degrees?
mind blown! now show me how to make the tool
Not exactly rocket science, me thinks...
Did it tell what type, name brand & perhaps where to purchase this perfect scraper?!
This is awesome, but for the life of me I cannot get a shaving as nice as yours are. Granted, I use a 1000/6000 combination of stone, but that should not be that much difference, maybe I'm applying a wrong angle when sharpening, do you have any idea what might be the cause?
I recognised the diamond stone as a generic "Made In China" available from Aliexpress/Banggood etc; but did the waterstones come from there as well? I'd be grateful for a link if possible.
Yes, I purchased them on Aliexpress, but I don't remember where exactly, sorry.
👍🔥
It's interesting, but I made exactly same thing few years ago)
👍
Kind of hard to argue with results like that.
I noticed you don’t seem to care which edge faces forward down the board you’re scraping? So there is no burr on the blade with this method? Or if there is, it doesn’t matter which edge to scrape with? 😊
Did you not watch the video to the end?
Yes, I show it in the video. Remember to sharpen the same side every time. And try to keep the same angle
@@GRINwood My mistake. I actually ended the video before the end! I will go back and watch. Love your stuff. Thanks.
Yes, about 2:20 left in the vid….burr info! Figures. I had just left the vid a moment before. I should have known your thoroughness would not leave out such a detail. 😊
That looks awesome, I must try to make one.
What is used to clean stones?
400 grit diamond stone
Is that a box cutter blade
Yes it is
Hello!
Hi
A link to the scraper video itself would've been nice.

Será que da de cortar o dedo ? 😂😂
wow goated as fuck
🤔👌✋
Those blades are so cheap I would not waste my time sharpening them. Just going to buy some more. Sorry.
Did you miss the point that the sharpening method applies a tiny burr on one side? If you just put in a new blade each time you're not getting that burr and the blade just works as a reverse-rake cutter and may not produce as fine a finish.
In any case though I suspect replacing the blade may take longer than the 4-6 touch-up strokes per stone as shown in the video.
@@ChiefTiff, I agree completely.
