  • In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we bring on special guest Josh Bowmar, who needs no introduction as one of the biggest hunting personalities out there. Josh is an absolute killer when it comes to mature deer as he's harvested six bucks over 200-inches. Not only is he a whitetail freak, but he's hunted some of the craziest animals from crocodiles to wild hippos. While he has been arguably one of the most successful hunters, that comes with a lot of criticism too. Josh opens up about the Nebraska scandal, Under Armor, and the attention he received after his truck caught fire during a burn project. Between Bowmar Archery & Bowmar Nutrition, Josh has quite the following as a social media influencer. He opens up about what life is like behind the scenes of being a hot target in the outdoor space, and how he overcomes adversity to continue to be one of the most successful hunting personalities on the web. With that being said, this episode is filled with great conversation as we talk the pursuit of mature bucks, the secret to 200's, the evolution of hunting content, bow setups, and more. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Its a good one...

I can’t believe you got him on and explain his side. I think this is going to be a big win for josh and Sarah. This was a great podcast and was in the edge of my seat waiting for the question to come up and he did a great job of explaining his side.

Josh was awesome sometimes you just have to talk them through. We never plan a podcast so a lot of the back and forth makes it a smoother discussion not spotlighting him on something specific

Excellent as per usual, first time I’ve ever heard of the cell cam releasing a frequency that deer can detect theory . Right off the bat I’m going to say if you hang a camera 7 foot off the ground and put it on a tree bigger than the camera you’ll almost never have deer look at it, so I’m not sold yet that it is a cell cam frequency thing spooking them but I’m not saying it couldn’t be proven to be true some day I just don’t know yet. Awesome pod and nothings better then after a workout getting on UA-cam at 6PM ever Tuesday to see the new guest/topics!

This was just the time he caught. I’m sure it took a lot of knowledge to get by this far. Without getting caught. save it with “ ohh he paid his debts to society and took responsibility” …. remember nobodddddy is gonna do for you in the same situation that podcast like these are doing for him. You don’t get to have a positive light shed on you, and for you, when you break the law. Don’t be naive. I apologize if you take personal offense to what I said. Not my intention. I take my broadheads very serious. And have tried allot of them. I have got very frustrated with my current heads and started watching broadhead videos. I came across lusk archery doing a test on bowmar broadheads. I'm going to say this. I've seen him test them all. And they're are only 2 heads that impressed me out of all of them. I've shot sevr since 2019 and with 30+ whitetail kills I've never had an animal go over 70 yards but I have had cpl not pass thru so I bought dozen the new 1.75 to try an help with that I also shoot the Levi 4mm broadhead kit on my other bow and excited to try em out since there solid glue in without dealing with an insert so might be switching over to them depending on how they do but really don't like the $90 3pk price and $30 for field points so gonna test both these two this season and go from there

I'm 100% in the speed bow camp too. Have done the research as well and have spent lots of hours with the bow. It's devastating on whitetails. I shoot vortex mechanicals and take them out of the package and put the work in to get them razor sharp. I get 320 fps average on the crono.

As messed up as our state is, NY did pretty good with the crossbow season, we get Oct 1st until November 1st then you can hunt with crossbow during archery for two weeks before gun opens.

Jared, when you say corn piles, you're not talking about the guy that puts out 50 pounds. It sounds like I missed the boat on corn piles! , but you guys are putting out hundreds if not thousands of pounds at one time?

The data proves 2 holes in a deer die 71% of the time vs 1 hole is like 30% according to deer trackers data. I agree tuning us the most important aspect of anything fixed.

That's simply only telling a small portion of the story though isn't it. Like only on the situations that have needed dogs, or the person couldn't find the deer in the first place. That's not a percentage for every time. I know this example is also anecdotal but all the deer I've killed where I've only had 1 hole have died in sight. The dog percentage is easy to tell the problem, because most of the time when you have only 1 hole and you can't find it and end up needing a dog is because you never got through the front shoulder so that deer most likely never dies. However if that arrow gets through that front shoulder the deer is dead in seconds and very easy to find without a dog. Same thing if you lodge it in the back shoulder on a quartering away. The 2 hole situation where you need a dog is usually guts where that deer will die but it will be harder to find without a dog especially if you kicked it up. While we agree penetration is awesome, the dog tracker situation doesn't really tell the story. Because with the right setup a 1 hole situation is very deadly, but if you can't punch through bone 1 hole really isn't a hole at all, it's a flesh wound.

I cut myself off at 50 yards generally. In a 100 percent perfect scenario I could shoot 60 yards. But I prefer 40 yards and in. I've grown up out west and it's not that hard to get close. It just takes time and patience. The hardest part is getting to full draw.
