  • Focused ultrasound is an incisionless treatment for patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. In this video, Ross Southers, the first person to have a focused ultrasound at VCU Health, shares his experience working with our neurosurgery team. Patients who come in for a focused ultrasound go home on the same day. The out-patient procedure happens over the course of several hours with a whole team of neurosurgeons and support staff. Ultrasound can fix any issues in the human body. It is more efficient at healing than our current(archaic) medical treatments.

No way your tremors are so bad to the point where you can’t hold a water bottle? There are other type of treatments before you would even get to surgery. Hopefully your tremor gets better! I’m in a similar boat, turned 30 recently and have a slight tremor that comes in waves. I believe mine is from heavy abuse to my body for so many years. But whatever the reason for you, it wouldn’t hurt to see someone about trying something that might alleviate some of the shakes. 😊

See a neurologist, and they will tell you what will help. The focused ultrasound may not be offered depending on the severity of it, but they should offer a medication that will hopefully help you enough to make a difference I know this because I have had tremors since I was 21 I am now 60 I have seen a few neurologist over the years and will be having focused ultrasound done soon because it has gotten so debilitating.
