- Hey!
Sorry about the delay in getting this video to you, unfortunately our internet here in Cork can be sometimes questionable... but we are back!
Today I wanted to show you how I am keeping as sharp as I can whilst we are all in this lockdown. I recently got this SIM set up in January of this year. I was pretty late to the party but since owning one, I can really see the benefit for drivers. I will be bringing you more walkthroughs like this very soon!
Thank you to the guys at Digital Motorsports and Fanatec for the set up. Make sure you check out their selection and let them know if you came from this video for a quote.

See you guys next week!

"AHHHHH I know how that feels in real life." This line got me.
"smell of fart leaving that too" 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the positive feedback with these videos, I’ve been enjoying showing you all more from behind the scenes. Hit that subscribe button to support and I’ll keep these videos rolling in the coming weeks, cheers! 🙌
excellent stuff man. Absolutely class channel
Class driving as always James, would you recommend a motion simulator to get used the movement of being in the car?
Hi Deane. A VR or less FOV (Field of View) will improve your sense of speed.
Awesome to see you driving, I hope to see you in the Virtual Drift Championship.
Adriel vc por aqui, que bom
Aí sim adriel, vamo ver James Deane Vs Adriel Kkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Aí sim Adriel kkkkk.
This is the crossover we'd love to see. Make this happen, James!!! We beg you!!!
Vim só pra procurar o Adriel por aqui, o Joguinho de carrinho tá crescendo em? kkkkk,
what would be the best fov ?
You need to get a VR James... It’s changing the whole experience.
yep it changes completly
@@brunogames3978 just gotta man up endure 2 weeks of sickness but once adjusted yeah life changing
It's even cheaper than triple monitors.
Sense of speed is easily achieved with a VR
dont go deep with going drifting right away with your first experiance in VR..just set it up with a mx5 around a easy track (red bull ring?) and get your sea legs from there. But yes VR and drifting is a good investment.
James, you mentioned your perception of speed is a bit off - you should be using a FOV calculator to adjust your in game view. This is a measurement between the distance to your eyes and your screen size. This will significantly improve your perception of speed and your seating position will feel natural. The best way to overcome this fully though, is to get a VR headset :)
LowkeyGuyo yea
True, but when he'll adjust that with just one screen, he will lose his vision on the sides of the car, which in normal racing is bearable, but with drifting, not so much. VR or triple setup.
@@mateuszkrupa1024 Losing some vision for a way better perception of speed and positional judgement is a worthy trade off IMO. Don't think it'll be too bad with an UltraWide Curved monitor. Another way to overcome that is to use RealHeadMotion or the Neck FX from Content Manager (which he doesn't seem to have just yet)
@@GuyLowkey he does appear to have some kind of head motion, you can see it in the roundabout in the middle of Mondello.
Although with an ultra wide you can run a lower FOV due to how much you can see either side.
dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/
@@mateuszkrupa1024 he has a super ultrawide...
You need to use a FOV (field of view) calculator. It will improve the sense of speed.
i love that paint scheme ... falken Drift Team is just amazing. more Powers to your Chanel Sir. that driving Sim is a good way to still be in shape while the world is in quarantine 👌👌👌
James you need a motion rig you get the Gforce you can adjust it and also VR it makes it a whole lot better than real head motion
Love to see the Pro2/1 guys switching over to Sim. Feel free to reach out if you need assistance setting up screen recording / streaming
Came to the comments to tell about wrap around or vr as a solution for speed perception. Looks like you guys got this
Great video once again! Hope the sim drifting keeps you going until Formula Drift starts back up soon, hopefully see you in Sonoma Raceway this year!
This is a video I ve been waiting for ! Thanks for sharing
I might just be too much of a noob and have not found the right information yet, but I would love it if you could go through some setup basics for drift cars. Overall alignment, gearing, damping, roll bar, and braking bias setups would help me out a lot. I understand you probably wouldn’t want to give away competitive secrets but if you could do a video on like a basic or grassroots level car that would be much appreciated. Either way congratulations on being a 3x FD champ in 3 years that is insane. Huge inspiration for my love of drifting and cars in general since I first laid eyes on the beautiful SR20 RX7.
"The caer looks awesome" 7:52. Love it! Nice drifting
Just casually tandem drifting with my ghost car back in da day.... love it man you even hooked up the sim with some carbon just a full seat, not much XD
Hi, James! I admire your driving, both in life and in games. I am from Russia and have been driving Assetto Corsa for several years, but unfortunately, I use an xbox gamepad. I hope I will soon be able to buy a gaming steering wheel, and ride as cool as you =) You are the best!
this is what my dream sim setup looks like. you actually have the same taste as me. thats nice!
Your face is so innocent but you drifting is so mean lol I love it. U inspired me a lot
Do you have a hard time going back and forth between your real cars and the sim? It seems like you are very comfortable in both virtual versions of your vehicles, but do the G-forces really throw you off or does it still feel pretty similar?
I'm sure it's been said but if you set up a realistic FOV, you'll lose peripheral vision but it should greatly assist with getting an accurate sense of speed. It's crazy how much of a difference FOV can make.
Really nice setup, you should join the Virtual Drift Championship!! And maybe do a meet up in a online server on AC and have fun with yours fan's!!
1. You need to setup the field of view (fov) correctly, you will have a true one to one feel of speed and you will get rid of the fish eye view
2. You should also choose the dash board view, you don't need to see two steering wheels
3. Very nice set-up by the way
Re: point 2, he can still use the cockpit view but just disable the virtual steering wheel from the settings. After setting up the appropriate FOV, that would feel/look pretty much the same as having the dash view, but without losing the g-force/shaking effects. That would be entirely up to him though if he wants to retain those effects.
JD plays Assetto Corsa!! And uses the DCGP E92 "James Deane" drift car. Holy crap, I love this car in game. This made my day mate. haha
There’s the edc (electronic drift championship) last time I watched it (in French comment) they was speaking about you and the fact that’s you can arrive like that (the subject was about the entry and the driver with a real life license can enter the pro grid right away) I’d love to see you and Piotr in it ! As you both got assetto corsa... :)
From south of France tcheers !
Thanks for doing this review James, I would always loved to have tryed drifting but I think a simulator is as close as I’ll get, hopefully in the coming months I can sort myself with one, glad to see your keeping safe and well, love from mitchelstown, co cork☘️☘️☘️
I was the same with my ghost car in GT3 as well. My memory cards are still at my parents old house in my old bedroom with all my replays and tunes, 😁 I hope to get them after this situation is over. Cheers
Exactly how I learned about racing and drifting GT3 A-Spec
Awesome setup but like a few others have said you have got get a VR setup as well. It changes everything, first time I used it my heart was actually pounding because the tandem felt so real.
Loving the uploads. Been a big fan of yours for years so it's deadly seeing more personal content. Be awesome if you could do a mini series on going to drift days around Ireland. Get a cheap skidder and have a go on tracks and ovals that lads like me drift on in a few hundred quid cars
i think we want to see more videos like this! also turn it on the chaser camera in patch settings cm, it will look much better from outside on replay you will see more tires spining and side of the car little bit, keep it up you are the best!
Absolute quality as goodas ever James serious set up phenomenal work keep it up Champ you're the best 💚🇮🇪
5:00 look how Calm he is with the steering
"Smell a fart after the crash" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 @8:30
Getting the right perception of speed come through getting the FOV right.
I got pretty much an identical setup as yours, same monitor and so on, and i can't for my life get the 49" monitor to feel right, a triple monitor setup would be a better bet if you have the place for it.
Or.. Get VR, not only does VR bring a whole new level of immersion, but it also has the right amount of FOV and sense of speed is way more natural. And, cheaper than a triple monitor setup. ;)
I remember that crash in person was soaked to the bone but when they announced you were champion again was worth it lol
If you fancy having a go competing we would love to see you in the Virtual Drift Championship! We pride ourselves with a polished and well run series, if you need any more info give Connor Shanahan or Alan Hynes a shout :)
Sweet!! Always delighted to see a new upload. Love this channel 🤟
Fantastic, so detailed and honest. Keep up the great work and thank you for the content.
Love the content James, thanks man
This makes my Logitech G920 with Xbox one s look poor 😫😂
Yeah but the jd130 set up costs just under 8000e I'm happy with my shitty g29 and a decent play seat for now 😊
Right? Lol
@@davidalexx___ love my g29 man very good for what it is, I would like to upgrade very soon tho. Possibly trustmaster give that a go.
Same
@@mikeymechanic i had both i honestly like my g29 much better especially the shifter i hated the thurstmaster shifter
Love the content bro! Cool to see the sim racing scene getting big again
Once again another amazing video keep up the incredible work and i hope to see u out there shredding tires and rubbing walls soon!:)
You really need to get the "VR", anyways I hope more videos to come James, I'ts fun to watch you playing in sim
Setting your FoV correctly will help with perception of speed. The on-screen wheel looks a lot smaller than your Fanatec wheel. Ideally, you'll want those to line up 1-1.
i really recommend neck fx, its part of shader patch suplied a 3rd party ac launcher called content manager.
what it does is basicly turning ur fov left and right acording to the track, gforces and steering input.
hf sliding :D
ohh ur using it, lol its so unnoticable with that far back view. tip for view cam, if ur setup already represents ur ingame car, then set the view in 3rd person so the x align( also seatpositon) and then just set the fov to fit real life.
Hi from GRINYA!
Best lah..#savereemar akoaowo santuy ae lah
So good to see you get into the sim game👌🏼🙏🏼
Great Vlog James Your Simulator Is Awesome Keep Up The Great Work On The Vlogs!
I would like to proudly say.. I was the first person you seen after you got out of the ambulance at Mondello 😂😂😂
Is the mod the dcgp one? Love that car, if it's different can we get a link?
Also you gotta use the graphics mod to make the game look better
seemed to be VDC :)
Its defs the dcgp e92. They came out with a new pack today i believe
@@Crav3nHD I know but Ok? ua-cam.com/video/cn9YFaZwWE4/v-deo.html The door marks say VDC L.Jarcki ? or t.Jarcki
It's vdc not dcgp :D
@@Crav3nHD is there a helpful link you can provide for this? I cannot seem to find it.
What hand brake do you use James?
Nice drifting james
love u deane! camera shake x3 helps a lil with speed perception. glad too see ur monitor has no input lag like mine lmao i cant stand input lag, n i see it errwhere
Sic! Just getting my first sim setup at home and waiting for the packages to turn up!
I beg you, please do a run of them steering wheels on your shop ❤
Mondeo with everyone parked on track so well fun in 2019 and the level of driving for how wet it was you lot really know how to chuck a car about hahahah
Great video and insight to sim. Looks cool and would love to but that's quite a big budget you have, would need to be slightly cheaper if I was to get one. Again great videos look forward to your next one. 👍
Love the screen it's full flat no cuts nice bro I'm proud 👌👍
the thing is... this one can actually do whats hes doing in the sim in real life if not even better xD
YOU NEED VR JAMES FOR MORE EXPERIENCE
Get a buttkicker. Set it up for track vibrations and speed/slip. Will help with another feedback element without the cost of full motion.
Really wish I had this setup at home. I’m making do with Forza Motorsport 7 and the standard controller. Still good fun 👌🏻 could we possible get a video on the red 335 in the coming weeks?
Dude, You should get an motion set-up. That would give you a got kick to feel those g's my man.
Ai ai👊😎🤙
Que grande que eres James, es muy parecido el drift del simulador a el drift en la vida real? un abrazo James y a seguir driftendo en ese rico simulador
see drift and think cool, but try it in LIVEFORSPEED , graphically it's not the best but for physics it's much better than a.c or pcars ect
you need a good VR headset and your perception of speed will be back! It should be really easy for you to get them to sponsor you too. Vive would 100% provide you one
I've just tried his car mod on Assetto Corsa and it's made really well🤠
you need to download realheadmotion which will turn the camera angle depending on where youre turning will make the experience a little more immersive
James is there much difference between sim racing with steering, throttle and breaking compared to real life drifting. Loving the content too keep it up
If you want to feel the speed in a simulator I would recommend getting a Vr headset to play with
download custom shaders patch and content manager if you haven't already, but the best part of sim drifting, imo is the tandems! So get online and come shred with us!
Ah man only learnt about you recently I’m from Ireland to man respect for what you do
With that screen, please adjust your FOV settings. You'll get a much more realistic experience
awesome man!
Would you share your wheel base settings? :)
Best regards Martin Frejd
Nice simulator ^,^ really nice)
Great job on the videos. Keep them coming.. with all your followers you can surely find someone to make Kartworld on assetto
that was sick. you should post more vids of sim drifting
Nice Driving! Hey I have a question, maybe you are interested in making a video game? :)
I hope find you online and make some tandems. I like how you drift very closed to someone, that you could open their doors with your hand if you want hahahaha.
عداك العيب ياصديق
Nice setup James love the vids mate I’m from cork myself
Just got the same setup, keen to know what settings you’re using as the standard settings are nuts
WOW amazing man , the mod its public ? i wanna play with this beast... hahaha
Опять таки привет из России✌️✌️

You need a footcam :)
it's not him that need a footcam..but "we" need a footcam..
I wish I could learn sim drifting but I'm the type of learner that learns better with people so I only ever played dirt rally and stopped after that.
Give VR a go. It will blow your mind.
JAMES YOU NEED A MOTION RIG and VR.
Wooo so nice
Pura crema!
Hi James I'm looking to order one of the 130 hoodies but I'm just wondering is there any size guide.
VR or a proper calculated FOV will help with the sense of speed problem
Wow nice
you should've looked into motion rig to help with the perception of speed and braking.
Can you do a footcam next time you do a sim video?? Your driving is insane in real life and sim haha!
You shall get VR
you should get a full motion sim
Bro I admire you and your skills. I ve been playing assetto for a while. Also becoming a profi drifter is my dream.
Wish we could do some lines togheter in this great game if you can give me your steam name in pm or smth.
P.S. still on controller tho. can't wait to get a wheel and dominate the lobbies
Also assetto has a lot of visual effects and mods which make this game look amazing. Also a few nice servers with great communities like Assetto Corsa Pursuit. but my pc can't run it at the moment.
Hi James! Thanks for the awesome vid!!! Would you mind sharing your settings for the S15? I’m still tinkering with it, and it shows that you’ve really got it dialed in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! 💪
Do you have the right car?
